Just got a couple things at the local reseller.

Breath of Fire 2, F-Zero GX and Mystical Ninja (on N64). Basically, pure awesomeness all-around :P
Paid a bit high for BoF2, but less than the Ebay price so I'm fine with that.

Not like the amazing garage sale finds from not long ago...but...not too bad, either.

Stopped at my local 'Retro'-Game Store and bought:

(1).  Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire (PSX/NA),
(2).  Vagrant Story (PSX/NA) *Double*, and
(3).  Koudelka (PSX/NA) *Double*.

The discs are all flawless, and they're all C.I.B, too :)

The games had various price-tags on them, I offered them $25 for all 3, and they took it  8)

I wasn't really in the market for doubling-up on some games, but, for $25, I figured that these 3 PSX games could certainly (and hopefully), easily be re-sold down the road for more than that...
 ;)

Picked up The Sims 3: Pets for the PS3 brand new for $5 and Strider for the NES, loose, but it was only $5 so I'm happy.

I haven't been around, I left on Friday morning for Indio, California, to visit an aunt along with my sister and mother. While there, we visited the Maclin's Indio Open Air Flea Market and found some stuff.

PS2 Gameshark - $3
PS1 Gameshark - $3
PS1 Game Enhancer 9 - $4
Medievil CIB, mint - $5
Dukes of Hazzard II, mint - $5
Incredible Crisis, mint - $5 :D

I also found a bunch of other games, but the sellers were mostly freakin' unreasonable. And no PC games. :(

It's a cheat device. It plugs into the parallel port on the back of early-model PS1 systems.

These devices let you do lots of stuff, like play imports / backups, view RAM contents, play back streamed music or sound effects, and videos.

I also forgot to mention this little tidbit. The reseller, in addition to his usual overpriced stuff, had, for the first time I've ever seen it and probably the only time I'll ever see it, the Star Fox Super Weekend cartridge for SNES.
Sadly I wasn't carrying around a random 600$ so I didn't get it, but it was pretty cool to see.

Dishonored just came out on Steam, so I pre-loaded it earlier and played a bit. Seems really well made and fun from the 30 minutes or so that I played. Can't wait to try it out some more tomorrow/today after work.

I'm aware of those two methods, I'm asking if there's a way to use this particular one. Which there doesn't seem to be. :|

This one seller at the flea market had six or seven copies of a shareware thing called "SuperCharged Xpansion Pack". It had 500 levels for Doom, Doom II and Hexen. All were new - a CD in a cardboard sleeve. He wanted three bucks and well, I had to pay it. I wanted to buy the whole set to resell but I just kept one for the "weird" pile.

I finally found a Power Glove! I hit an estate sale yesterday that was advertising 'video games' and after winding my way around I came across a dusty box of video game stuff, where inside I found a Power Glove with the hookups and about 8-10 common NES games (Super Off Road, Pac Man, Bayou Billy, Dragon Warrior, World Cup, World Class Track Meet, Paperboy, etc).  It also came with an old passwords and codes book, a turbo controller and a Mario Paint mousepad.

They also had an original Magnavox Odyssey system, CIB and for some reason I was so excited about the Power Glove (not to mention out of cash) I passed on it.  I looked it up later and found one with bids selling for over $100 on eBay  :-\ Doh!  I'm going to be kicking myself for passing on that thing for years.

Doot doot.

There's that CD I bought the other day.

Today's finds include Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Fighters Edge variant), Spin Jam, Bust-A-Groove, and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter in a Street Fighter Alpha 2 case with manual and back cover for $1 each. :D

Oh and I also got this for the cost of shipping. The seller said she bought the dance pad bundle just for the dance pad and had no use for this, so she was giving it away. I asked for it, and there we go. The disc inside is Greatest Hits though, which is weird.

And I -may- be getting a new... well, used TV tomorrow if all goes well. :D

Criagslist was good to me this weekend.  I found a dude downsizing his SNES collection and worked a deal with him.

Super Castlevania IV (loose)
Jim Power (loose)
X-Men: The Mutant Apocolyps (loose)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (boxed but missing the book)
Contra III (CIB and in amazing shape)
and... Demon's Crest (loose)

All for 50 bones.  Not too shabby

Those systems are pretty old and break easily. They're only worth that much if they're complete in box and functioning.

Only picked-up the Pokemon Soul-Silver one, because I usually see it going for $20+ (used, w/o manual, etc) at Gamestop -and- I found it new/sealed & in a boxed-set w/ some thing called a "Poke-walker" (or something like that) for the same price at Target...figured it looked like a decent price to buy it at...

I don't have a smartphone, so I just had to go with my gut on that one.  I've never seen one; it doesn't even come up on pricecharting.com, so I had to look to ebay to find it's value.

I was able to contact him and he still has it and told me he wants $150 for it.  Considering I'm not sure if it works or not and that's a lot of cash for something I'll never play, I"ll probably pass on it.  Not to mention with the holidays coming and we're refinancing our house, that cash would serve me better elsewhere.

Received my sealed copy of Devil Survivor: Overclocked in today's mail, *BUT*, so far, I'm still being "good" about not opening/using my new 3DS-XL until (at least) my B-Day on 10-25 :P

This is actually the 1st (and only) game that I've gotten so far for the system; although, I have also pre-ordered the follow-up to 999.

Only thing that's still pending/'outstanding' for me now are the Mugen Souls LE's that I pre-ordered from NISA...but, I'm expecting them to arrive tomorrow or Saturday :)

Just got Torneko: The Last Hope for PS1! I believe I just got super lucky. Soera had pointed me to it on Amazon and said he had an extra case and manual for it. So I ordered the cheapest one they had, but it had no description, but was listed as "good". I figured it was disc only, but when I opened up the envelope just now, it had this baby inside! The case and art look amazing, the disc has a few light marks on it, but nothing major. So happy at the moment.

I had two cents credit, too. Total was $14.90.

Aaaaaaaand I ended up buying all of these at GOG's Interplay sale for $14.83. I now own the entire Interplay catalog on GOG.

And I got a gift code with Messiah, Descent 3 + Expansion, Freespace + Expansion, Giants: Citizen Kabuto and ... Earthworm Jim 3D. I almost want to throw this away because I would be inflicting Earthworm Jim 3D on someone. :|

Did it come w/ a box of "tarot cards"?

Just wondering if those cards were standard, part of an LE, a GS-exclusive, or what...because a friend of mine that works at my local GS hooked me up w/ one of them :P

Finally got myself a copy of Mushihime-sama Futari. It arrived in the mail this afternoon, making today an even better day for games! According to tracking, DoDonPachi Ressurection should be here tomorrow too! AND, I just got this Neo Geo cab for free! It needs a monitor and guts. But it has all of the controls and the coin door. I may install a PC and MAME into it and make is a Neo Geo only cab. It all depends on how much the guts will cost, but either way, that project isn't going to happen for a long, long, long long long, long time.

I was wondering... is Mushihime-sama Futari region-free? I found it for a good price once but gave up on it because I wasn't sure if I could play it on my 360.

Also, FINALLY got something that I pledged for on kickstarter (I pledge on over 20 things since April and it's the first time I get anything in return!), with Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams coming out on Steam.

Ya this is Mushihime-sama Futari Version 1.5, which is region free. DoDonPachi Resurrection is also, as long as you get the PAL version. Another one is Espgaluda II Black Label and Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets. Muchi Muchi is really expensive though and I think it was a really limited printing.

Alright, thanks for the info. I might have to hunt some of these down eventually.

...

I still find it crazy that the 360 is such a treasure trove for scrolling shooters when you'd think most of the audience for those games would be on PS3.

Edit: Also, apparently all version of the 360 release are region free.

Just be a bit careful - all versions of Mushihimesama Futari are region free, but ESPgaluda 2 doesn't work that way as the limited edition (but not the standard or re-release) is region locked. Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets is region free. The Japanese versions of Akai Katana, Mushihimesama (1), and DoDonPachi (all versions) are region locked. The PAL versions of Akai Katana and DDP work on PAL and US 360s, but not Japanese ones.

o.O

In any case I've recently bought a couple of little things -

Devil Summoner Soul Hackers (Jp Saturn)
Virus (Jp Saturn)

Yep!

Very nice PS2 haul, indeed :)

Speaking of burning-through some B-Day cash - I just came home with:

1).  The Last Story (Wii/NA) sealed, box-set,
2).  Phantasy Star Portable (PSP/NA) "Gamestop-New", and
3).  Harvest Moon 3D: A Tale of 2 Towns (3DS/NA) "Gamestop-New"

(3.5).  As I was leaving, I jokingly told my friend working at GS that today was my B-Day -and- did he have any cool (and *Free*) swag to hook a friend up with...

...Also left w/ a pretty cool "Pre-order Only, Assassin's Creed 3" poster  ;)

-never hurts to try  8)

Nice!  I always hate to bug the GS employees about that stuff, but it's good that you try.  You never know.  Otherwise, who knows how much I would've paid for the Xenoblade artbook had I not gone around to different stores and asked.

I just stopped by GS today to check on whether they got their shipment of the Harvest Moon game yet (released early).  I recieved the one with the giant 12" cow from Natsume the other day and picked up Hotel Dusk (black label) today for under $5.  If you haven't played it yet, that's a good price from Gamestop!  It's $15 new and only $5 used after a price drop.  I already have a copy but the one in the store was in good condition and a friend of mine doesn't own it yet.

Yeah - Chris (the guy that was working today), is the only one there that I'm that friendly with/would even ask about that kind of stuff.

(In return, though -to be fair- I make it a point to order *ALL* of my pre-orders via him (and *only* him)...since (iirc), the amount of hours that they get to work is (at least somewhat) based on their # of pre-orders & I always fill-out the "Customer-Experience" Surveys for him w/ all "10's".

Interestingly enough, he told me while I was browsing, that Best Buy is currently the better place to shop for some new games, as they're doing a B1G1 free on their new games :)

He also told me that he just found out that 'his' store is currently "ranked" at # 44 (out of *ALL* of the American) GS stores...I'm not sure how many there are...but I think that it's safe to assume that being at # 44 would have to be pretty, damned good!
- Never really would have thought that they'd be that far up there...

*Loving* the Costume Quest avatar...did ya' finish/like it?!

Considering that 90% of GS employees treat their customers like it's such a hardship wait on them. Or straight up despise most of their customers/ have a ill-placed superiority complex and think they know more about gaming because they work at a GS. I'm not surprised.  I only go to GameStop on the rare occasion that I need to, or they have a pre-order offer that is too good to pass up. But I hate being hounded about pre-ordering crap and I hate getting shit for cancelling if the need to arises.

Hell, go into a GS and as about Akai Katana or some non mainstream game. I went into the one by my house and asked about Deathsmiles, Otomedus Excellent and Akai Katana around the time each were released and they looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. Unless it's branded Madden, Halo, CoD, God of War, etc. They don't know wtf you're talking about.

I must have lucked up because my local GS is nothing like that (I even got a free art book to go with my copy of Atelier Meruru!) although I have experienced that at other GS stores so I understand where you're coming from. Do all the GS stores in your area suck?

The GS the next town over used to be great and I ended up becoming friends with a lot of the dudes that worked there (Matt included). But, I rarely go there anymore, since most of the guys I know that did work there have moved on. The one by my house is a hole in the wall little shop with barely enough room for people to walk around and the selection is usually pretty terrible. I got tired of going there because I was constantly getting bothered about pre-orders/subs. There are 2 more nearby, but I've never been in the one and the other one is a decent size store, but again I've rarely found anything worth driving there for.

I'm pretty much over GS. Especially when you go there to buy a New game and it's been cracked open and gutted. The last straw for me was buying a new copy of Knights in the Nightmare and realizing when I got home that the manual was missing. If it had been sealed, that wouldn't have been an issue at all.

I have not played it before, and I'm *definitely* looking forward to playing it on the XL's (90% bigger) screens!

I'm not sure. I played the game to death on the N64 and loved every minute of it. I also have it on my 3DS and thought it was great. I think the main reason they are saying it's "the" version to play has more to do with the update graphics than anything.

Also, how well/poorly is the 3D used in the game?
Title: Re: October 2012 - Recently Added To Collection/Recently Purchased

Well they added the Master Quest version of the game as a bonus. But they took out the Stone of Agony, because the rumble feature isn't available and put in a replacement item that is supposed to do the same idea. As far as I could tell the dungeon layouts and everything are the same and the quests, etc are the same which I like. Basically the 3DS version, as far as I can tell, is just a graphically overhauled update of the original. Of course, that's what I like about it, because they didn't dick around with the layouts/gameplay. Of course, they did make it so you can aim your slingshot/bow/hookshot and 1st Person view by moving the 3DS around (but I still just normal aim, cause I'm not a fan of gyro controls).

As for the 3D, it is very well done. I can play that game in 3D for hours on end and rarely switch it off.

Maniac Mansion (NES)

All were decently priced.  Not a bad little haul.  :)

That reminds me that I need to get that again. I traded it off years ago.

Today I got Castlevania: Legends, the box has some wear on it but the rest of it looks good and it has all the paper work with it. So now I only need Belmont's Revenge and I'll have CIB copies of every US release other than Kid Dracula (unless you want to count oddball PC ports of Castlevania 1).

and another copy of Guilty Gear X2 #Reload (Xbox)

That reminds me that I need to get that again. I traded it off years ago.

Today I got Castlevania: Legends, the box has some wear on it but the rest of it looks good and it has all the paper work with it. So now I only need Belmont's Revenge and I'll have CIB copies of every US release other than Kid Dracula (unless you want to count oddball PC ports of Castlevania 1).

Glad that one turned out good!

I personally like the graded game ... looks good. From the pic though, I would assume it was greater than 85 however.

I have been wanting to get one of these since I first played Samba De Amigo with a normal controller on the Dreamcast. I got it locally for a good price so I don't really care that it's third party. I did have to do a bit of rewiring to get it to work again but it is as fun as I always imagined it would be :D

YES!  I used to have those maracas, but sold them at one point.  They have some absolutely hilarious Engrish on the box.  Could you do me a favor and take a pic of or transcribe the Engrish?  I haven't seen it in years and would like to know if it's as funny as I remember it.

Assassin's Creed III arrived today at my house! I was totally not expecting it to ship yet and for some reason I thought it was still a way's out. I haven't picked it up yet and I still need to finish Revelations before I can sit down with this one.

Also, my friend that's getting this mame cab gave me 2 more games today. God of War and God of War II. Basically, we were talking about games and he mentioned GoW and I said I never played any of them. To which he pulled them out of his shelving unit and told me to fix that problem. ha.

Amazon delivered my Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward preorders yesterday a day early, but I'll have to wait 'till tonight before I can play it.

Both the Vita and the 3DS version bundled with the watch - wonder if this preorder watch will hit $200 again like the one from the first volume...?

Got a jewel the other day.  My wife was intending on giving me this for Christmas, but didn't have a good place to hide it.  So, she just gave it to me.
I am the proud owner of a Nintendo Virtual Boy in the Blockbuster rental case.  Also, I have 6 games.

Wario Land
Teleroboxer
Galactic Pinball
Mario's Tennis
Mario Clash
Golf

I'm pretty pumped about it, since this is the only Nintendo system I've never owned.
I don't know why peole say this thing is so bad.  I've only played a little, but it was fun.  It takes a little getting used to, but it's still a good time.

I don't think it's really a bad console, it was just too gimmicky at the time. It didn't travel well, you really had to sit still to play it (unless you strapped it to your head), etc. I've had one for some time now and I've never had a headache or eye strain from playing it.

I also haven't really found a game that I enjoy playing for an extended period of time - maybe that's why I've never experienced the ailments :)

I rented those Blockbuster cases with the Virtual Boy more times than I can count, and I think the only game I played was tennis.

I don't remember having any pain - I just set up some sort of makeshift desk so that the console could be at the right level to my face while I played.

Nice score!

I bought the Crystal White Vita Bundle on the 30th at midnight. Also bought a few games online, but haven't received them yet. Breath of Fire I and II for GBA, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Star Ocean: Til the End of Time.
