I think you guys are missing the point. There is no greater gaming nirvana than playing some Dragon Quest. If you disagree, you're wrong.

The only experiences that come close are playing through the Suikoden series (and rushing through 4) or as Scott said, Secret of Mana with 3 willing players.

I do agree on dragon quest tho. Played some 1 on NES a few months ago and enjoyed every minute.

Even when you turned left instead of right and died in one hit? lol

I have been replaying through the dragon quest series on my Nexus 7 (the SNES versions translated) and I'm loving it!  Turn on turbo for the grinding parts and REALLY enjoying it again.

The only one I have ever played is the first one.  I had a lot of fun playing through it and almost reached the level cap.  Personally though I think "There's no greater gaming nirvana than playing The Legend Of Zelda.  Especially Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, Adventure of Link, the original, and, well pretty much all of the other games..."

Agreed, a play through of OoT not only brings back great childhood memories but its art and music and game play come together to create awesomeness

I completely agree :) The Legend Of Zelda's are my favorite games, to the point that I usually end up buying a new system so I can play the next Zelda game. lol

I just finished playing the main story line in Dragon Quest IX, And I have to say that it is my absolute favorite non zelda game! to the point that every game I've tried to get into playing today, just doesn't seem as good in comparison. I really loved being able to customize the look of my whole party. :)

While I liked that aspect too. I was kinda bummed that they didn't have any preset party members in the game. I like having my party members being involved in the story, it helps me get into the game and feel like every character is important.

I'll just go and destroy this topic.

Donkey Kong Country. Any of them.
