so i was browsing on ebay.. and i see halloween and texas chainsaw massacre made in 2013 on atari... for 40$ well i bid 41 but don't win....but i get a second offer saying,do you still want this?...well it's a reproduction of the two games which i'd still like to have but, does not have the rarity of the original... but i do know from being on ebay for years that most of the time when second chances come off immediently after item ends, the guy was shill bidding(telling a friend to bid it up). i don't know if its worth 50$ for both, im a cheap guy and hate the point of paying that for 2 games.if it was the originals id pay that all day..would you guys pay 50$ for halloween and texas chainsaw massacre on atari it being a reproduction? just want yalls opinoin.. im not looking for "do want you want" im kinda new at collecting and i dont wanna pay this then later on see 100s of these games remade and selling for 5$ and also kinda wondering everyones opinoin on reproductions games in general.i know it sucks in a way but i think it would be kool to have just for the i have played that... thanks

I wouldn't pay a dime for a repro of a commercially released game. You're basically paying for a bootleg. *shrugs*

Jeez man, fix your spelling and grammar. I can hardly pick out anything you said. All I can do is agree with foxhack.

I wouldn't pay for a repro of a released game either. If you want to experience the games, you can always come back with a counter offer. The worst that can happen is that they will say no. Th fact is he is selling them for a lot and doing it outside a channel to avoid seller fees and such. This is fine, but the cost seems insane to me. I know little about atari collecting though.
No difference between a repro and playing the rom with an atri joystick or playing through something like a cuttle cart.
Bottom line, I would not pay a dime either.

To put it bluntly. No.
-
Im on the other side. I dont mind reproductions of any game ... If you were willing to pay $40, I dont see the issue.
-
If you want it and it's worth $40 to you, buy it. If you're looking to add it as a collector's piece, pass.

I would pass.

This is a much better deal and is exactly what you are paying for in a repro cart anyways.

I would (and have) if it's something that's been translated into (and never saw a release in) a language I can understand. Also, if it's a homebrew/hack that sounds interesting.

Same. I bought a repro/translation of Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart. And it was worth it to be able to play the game w/o and need for a translation guide. I was also tempted to buy a repro of Kid Dracula on NES, but decided against it after I found out the guy was using foxhack's translation patch in his carts.
I doubt I'd ever buy a repro of a commercially available game from my own region though.

I would ... depending on the game. There are certain titles that I simply would like to play (I dont do emulation on a PC cause my PC is always occupied by someone) and I dont want to pay the premium the thing seems to be selling for. Magic Knight Rayearth and Crusader of Centy are 2 that come to mind right now. If I could just find someone to make me a copy of the game for the price of a normal game, Id get it. I dont collect for value and really am not concerned with all the issues that a lot of higher end collectors are bothered by. I collect cause I love gaming and if it takes a repro of a game to get something I want, Im cool with it.

That's different.
Also, buy a flash cart. It's cheaper in the long run.
