Title: Game's Dependency
Post by: escalein on July 03, 2011, 10:06:04 am
Should we indicate a game's dependency, standalone or expansion?

An expansion pack for a game would be listed like.

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising

As for Standalone, what do you mean?

For example:

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3: Uprising is a Red Alert 3 expansion that can be played by itself without having the original Red Alert 3 installed.
Same for Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor.

So I'm just wondering should we indicate a game's dependency on a prior game?

I guess for the time being, you can put something like "Requires The Sims 2", for something like The Sims 2: Nightlife, in the description field. I suppose I've never put much thought into a difference between regular xpacs and standalone-able xpacs, ha

I agree. This is a perfect use for the highly debated description field.
