O hai, let's start this up.
I just traded for Mini Ninjas on Steam. I still can't believe the developer of Hitman and Kane & Lynch made this.
-
And here I thought I was going to get to make this month's :( Oh well :)
I went to a book sale at the library today. I was surprised by a couple of things: 1. how few people were there 2. how many games were there.
I think I did pretty well with each game and dvd being $2 and each book being $1

I got a mixture of stuff for me, my wife and son. Pretty good day overall :)
-
Kicking off the month by spending more than planned. So far:
- Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City [NDS]
- Fate/Extra - Limited Edition [PSP]
- Okami: Zekkeiban [PS3] - Asia version w/ English subs!
- Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward [PSV]
Pluuuus pre-orders in for Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan, Shin Megami Tensei: Soul Hackers, and Pandora's Tower. Luckily, none of those are out for a little while :)
-
Went to EBgames, somehow came out with Code of Princess.
-
And I just traded a bunch of keys I'll never use for Don't Starve on Steam.
-
I picked up Sigma Star Saga on the GBA and Saga Frontier on the PS1 today. Saga Frontier was free, so that's nice!

Did you get it with the plushie? I'm surprised that bundle isn't too expensive...
No, It wasn't the collectors edition, it was just the game/case/book. Thought about holding out for the plushie doll version but it was cheap and I wanted it in my collection so i picked it up. I'm only missing the 1st Devil Summoner now in my PS2 Shin Megami Tensei set. The hardest of the set to find ><;
-
Got lucky today at one of the local Vintage Stock stores. Found Dragon Fighter for $20. Had cart, box, manual, poster, and all the other miscellaneous inserts. Also picked up a Lunar Silver star story guide book for a $1. The only reason it was $1 was cause every page is removed from the cover. Ill find a use for it somehow. :)
-
And I just traded a bunch of keys I'll never use for Don't Starve on Steam.
Oo, let me know how Don't Stave is. It's on my wishlist!
It's... something else. It's fun, but so far, combat has been very, very "meh". Of course that's to be expected, I'm playing a scientist, not some badass explorer. It's definitely good, the art style is as awesome as all other Klei Entertainment games.
I've only been able to survive for five days tops. Those damn Teenbirds...

Got one of my copies of Fire Emblem and the artbook today... hopefully another one to come!

Freakin' Photobucket is adding garbage to my file names again... ugh. Anyway.
Story time. I was wandering through my local flea market on Saturday when I noticed a booth had a bunch of red looking things inside. I got close and noticed... they were... uh. Foxes.
They're from a game company called ChangYou. They make MMORPGs for the Chinese market and have a few that also work locally. The booth had hundreds of these and it looked like they didn't know what to do with 'em. I grabbed a pair for me and one of each for my nieces, and that was two bucks. I told a friend about these and he whined, saying I should've gotten one of the keychain ones for him since he likes to put stuff like that in his Derpy Hooves pack thing (I know, I know.) So on Monday I grabbed one for him and two more for the nieces. I intend to give each of them a pair on Saturday when they come visit. (They're 16 and 8 respectively. And yes, both love to play with their uncle Dave's games. :P)
And today's finds:
The PC game was fifty cents. The DDR game is brand new and cost me five bucks.
... shut up.
-
Are you implying that we would make fun of you for purchasing that game. :P

And don't use the "It's my daughter's game" excuse. :)

It's my Birthday, Fools!
My wife gave me a pretty sweet present this morning:
3DSxl Mario Kart Edition (I know, it's one of those digital only games.) and 4 games!
Star Fox 64
Super Mario 3D Land
New Super Mario Bros. 2
Resident Evil: Revelations
This thing is awesome. Now, do I add Mario Kart 7 to my collection, or not?

Heh, you can add the eShop version, I'd say :) I assume it's something that can always be transferred off to another 3DS if you ever needed to, right?
Congrats on the schwag and happy bday! Def envious of the XL
-
Happy birthday. :) Nice stuff ya got.
-
Battle Kid 2! Finally!
After them messing up the release and making me get it over a month later, I finally have it, complete in box (it was sealed, but screw leaving games sealed).
-
Finally got My copy of Fire Emblem Awakening yesterday and I ended up spending time at Gamestop talking JRPG's, localization and Retro games with one of the employees there.
By the way Happy Birthday Turf
-
Thank you sir
My brother had Fire Emblem preordered at GameStop. Well, they had more preorders than games in the store. He got the shaft. Target will help you out though.

Whoa, so many guides! And you scored two wizard editions! Very nice :)
-
So I bought 2, but one is for my cousin. I pre-ordered two guides, but they didn't show up for so long I picked up 2 more from Gamestop. My cousin and I decided to just thrash the 2 we opened (writing, folding etc) and keep the others sealed. It took so long for the Wizards editions to get here I picked up the steel case and a regular copy.
-
Awesome score. Hopefully you didnt pay any more than retail for them.

newp, I pre-ordered in August

For the first time in my life I got myself a "high-end" video card... Sort of. A Radeon HD 7870, which is the previous series of Radeon cards.
The cool thing is that it's part of the "Never Settle: Reloaded (http://sites.amd.com/us/promo/never-settle/Pages/nsreloaded.aspx)" promotion, so I'll be getting free download codes (probably Steam) for Bioshock Infinite (which I'm hyped for) and the much less exciting Tomb Raider, whenever those come out in March.
-
just got columns (genesis) complete with box and manual at a comic book store for $0.99
such an addictive game
-
And this video card thing just shows how little I know about computer hardware. I ended up having to go and buy a new power supply because the one I had was missing a single cable.

Uh...
Well, that's better anyway, but if you meant the secondary power, there are Molex adapters for that. ^^;

I actually researched that... and found this adapter that I would have needed: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/PCi-Express-6-Pin-To-2-X-4-Pin-Molex-Adapter-Power-Supply-Computer-PC-Converter-/160729127396?pt=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item256c33d9e4&_uhb=1
But I had nowhere in my computer to connect it to, my power supply had no Molex connectors :P
-
Dunno about anyone else, but I keep finding *really* good deals on used stuff this month.
- Sin and Punishment: Star Successor Wii [NA]
- Tenchu: Fatal Shadows PS2 [NA]
- Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll PS3 [NA]
-
From my money made off of selling Radiant Historia which is reaching crazy prices (and other than the cool battle system, was frankly boring); I got these games:
-Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (XBox)
-Final Fantasy Anthology (PS1)
-Final Fantasy VIII (PS1)
-Final Fantasy IX (PS1)
-Legaia 2: Duel Saga (PS2)
-Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (XBox 360)
-Twisted Metal 2 (PS1)
The 3 FF games came in lot for only $15!
-
Hit up GameStop looking for DS games and walked away with Brutal Legend, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and BlazBlue Calamity Trigger on 360 all for $5 each and CIB. :)
-
Found a weird score today. Apparently Turbo Grafx had a magazine (or 3 actually) that you could subscribe to. Found a bundle of them at a HPB for a few dollars. Has about 15 issues. The names are Turboplay, Turbo Force, and Duo something. They look like they havent ever even been opened. Im going to try to get some pics soon. :)

That's an awesome find!

I have pics but they are too big and I cant resize them. I hate pic restrictions. :(
-
My copy of Namco Museum 50th Anniversary for PS2 that I got last week wouldn't read. So I took it back and in return I was able to get Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex and Midway Arcade Treasures (vol. 1). (There really wasn't a lot to choose from that I didn't already have.)
-
Today I got Earth Defense Force 3 Portable, which makes no sense since I recently bought Earth Defense Force 2017 on Xbox 360 which is the same game.
It's the japanese Vita version, which... I mean, I could have bought the american version, but I'm not paying retail prices for a downloadable game.

Picked this guy up tonight:
I certainly don't need it. But you know how it is. I *needed* it.
Question now is do I play it on my original 3DS (that my boyfriend gave me) or switch everything to this sweet new thang?
Edit: I just noticed the lazy reflection effect on the box. *shakes head*

Yeah....

Did a run to Goodwill over the weekend to look for clothes for work, I struck out on that but I did find a few others things ;D
(http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb141/jcalder8/P2110002_zpsfc9a4385.jpg)
All the games are complete. Conker and Giants were $6 each and Pinball was 3, same with the Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 guide. The Pokemon guide was bought by my mother in law for my son.... so into the collection it goes hehehe
Lastly I picked this up:
I was rather surprised when I saw it since I've never seen one in person before. Does anyone know the make and model of it?
It's untested but for $20 I figured I'd take a gamble on it :D
-
I got G-Police: Weapons of Justice for the PS1 today. Complete and in mint shape. Cost me $2.

Game "Pre-Installed". Forgive me for my ignorance, because I don't own a 3DS. But you can install games like XBox 360 on 3DS? And does that mean you didn't get a physical copy of the game in that box?
Considering there's like no load times compared to discs, what's the point of installing games on 3DS?
-
It means there is no cart or other packaging for the game. So the game is loaded directly into memory, like if you bought a game on XBLA or Virtual Console.
-

Is there a physical version of the game you can buy? Or is this an exclusive to that version of 3DS?
-
Oh ya the game was released at retail last week. But Nintendo dropped the ball and didn't provide enough copies for demand. So now folks like me and insektmute have been (im)patiently waiting for our pre-orders to finally get filled.
These 3DS bundles just have a digital version of the game already loaded into them. So rather than having the cart shipped in the package, they are doing away with loose carts and going with "pre-installed" games in the system memory. Kinda lame if you ask me.
-
Yep, that's pretty weak.
-
My 3DS came with Mario Kart 7 installed. No phyical game. I'll buy one second hand one of these days.
-
Yep, that's pretty weak.
To be honest, I thought the preinstalled game was pretty sweet on the Master System 2. Come to think of it, I thought 3D was cool on the Master System.
Sega, always 25 years ahead of nintendo. We've got about 10 years before Nintendo handhelds come with a VMU.
But seriously, I kind of like preinstalled games. I especially like hunting retro systems not knowing if it has Alex Kidd or Sonic. And desperately hoping it has Sonic (even though the cart is ~$2). I think it would be neat down the road to find a 3DS with Fire Emblem, Mario Kart, etc. Adds to the hunt.
-
Well. Fire Emblem: Awakening came, no art book though which I pretty lame. Not sure when I'll get around to playing it though. Since I'm pretty invested in Etrian Odyssey at the moment.

Sucks! I'm sorry to hear that. I guess that's what I would be most afraid of with ordering stuff with the "limited supply" bonuses. If it's all launch copies, I'm down with online retailers. Otherwise, at least with GS, I can hassle the employees on launch day or hope to rely on the fact that they're familiar with me now.
I'll see if I can manage another booklet from them. If so, I'll send it your way.

The sad thing is that the Japanese bundle had the same console but *did* include a retail copy of the game in the box. Best of both worlds for those fans. Not sure if they got an artbook, but still.
I'm not sure if I'll play the pre-installed version of the game or the retail version (I have that, too). I get the impression that, to play the pre-installed version, I'll need to do it on the Fire Emblem system. I could probably transfer it, but it'd be a pain, and I'd feel guilty since my original 3DS was a gift. This is definitely the issue with pre-installed games. It wouldn't be an issue at all if it were a retail copy. I was kind of hoping that the bundle would include some sort of redeemable card/code for the game so that you could choose to download it to that system or to any other system that you prefer (under your account).

I meant it's weak that they had to wait on games that they pre-ordered. It completely defeats the purpose of pre-ordering if you can't get it on release day.
As for pre-installed games, yeah, that is cool if it's a freebie with the system. But if there is a physical version, I'd much rather get the physical version.

Two more for me, with Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana [PS2] and Magna Carta 2 [360] on the Way. Ooh, and Fire Emblem: Awakening finally shipped :)
-
Picked up Fifa Street for the 360 for $12 today, I hope that it is as good as street 2 since I didn't really like Street 3.
-
Pick up the Limited Edition of Record of the Agarest War Zero for the 360
Also found a small stack of old Windows 95 games in my basement today
-
Finally picked up the Kirby Dream Collection. Totally worth it, love the music in these games and though I still want a cart for Kirby's Dream Land 3, I'll take this for now.
-
Just bought the SFC versions of Legend of Heroes 1 and 2 as part of my epic playthrough project, and Eldorado Gate Vol. 1 and Sunrise Eiyuutan as part of operation "Let's get back into enjoying the Dreamcast" :)

Do you have a PS3/360?
AFAIK, that's the only way to play 'em...
-
I have both! The only formats I don't own are Wii U and Vita :)
-
Alrighty. So... today Etrian Odyssey [NA] came and I figured I'd take a picture of it alongside the couple other things I've snagged over the last week or so.
So here's EO, Kirby, Blazblue, Brutal Legend and The Force Unleashed.
And now I have all the US releases. The beast has been sated.
But wait...
....
...
could it be?
...
..
..
is it?
It is.
CASTLEVANIA II: BELMONT'S REVENGE!!!!
It's in super excellent shape too and it happened to be the cheapest copy I've seen in awhile. So I snagged it w/ Tax Return money. This means that my goal has been reached and I now have a copy of every US released Castlevania game CIB. Sure, it doesn't have the obscure old PC versions of Castlevania 1 and Kid Dracula is loose. But I don't care.
The only thing I have left on my want list is Kid Dracula for Famicom and that's also on it's way. I'm really super happy at the moment.
And for good measure. An updated pic of my collection.

Pick up the Limited Edition of Record of the Agarest War Zero for the 360
Also found a small stack of old Windows 95 games in my basement today
Played any of the Agarest games?
Oh dammit now I'm reminded that I still don't own them :(
Do you have a PS3/360?
AFAIK, that's the only way to play 'em...
not yet I picked this one up because I've been wanting to try out the series and it's a pretty inexpensive Limited edition. I played a little of this one and it seems fun... I've just keep going back to playing Fire Emblem, so I haven't play enough to give my true thoughts on it
-
I started a new job last week so I just got my first paycheck today and so I bought these today:

The two games and the box only cost me $20!!!!!! The Bubble Bobble 2 game is in mint condition! There are a couple of dings and a bit of discoloring to the Chip N Dale 2 but the box is sun faded on the front but it looks nice on the back :D
Unfortunately I also had to buy the 2 sleeves and they cost me 280 :( :( :(
Overall I still think I did pretty good.
-
I've always wanted to play Rescue Rangers 2. Really enjoyed the first one.
-
One of my random eBay bids came in today.
Game & Watch Mario's Cement Factory
It wasn't too bad. I paid $30 shipped. It's usually way higher than that.
-
Just preordered the collectors edition of Ghost Blade (http://hucast.com/product_info.php?info=p13_the-ghost-blade-3-disc-ce--sega-dreamcast---pre-order-.html), can't wait for this one :D
-
I have both! The only formats I don't own are Wii U and Vita :)
Which one do you find yourself using more for the multi-plat games?
-
I try to go PS3 but hubby complains as he misses out on precious achievement points! RPGs just "fit" PS3 better in my mind (what little mind there is) :)
-

Me too (prefer the PS3).
You don't care about the trophies/points, though, right?
-
Could not give a monkey's if they all went and vanished tomorrow :)
-
Glad your Belmont's came in! :) And you need to remake the packaging for EO 1. That shit is boring compared to the other 4.
Nice NES games. Rescue Rangers 2 is still one of the big boys Im missing.

I dont mind some trophies. But others are ugh. I just get the ones I can and say screw the rest. MK had some impossible for me to reach trophies. Ni no Kuni has a lot of trophies that are within reach. I think I 100% Saw.

Thanks, I have never seen either in person before so it was pretty cool even just getting to look at them :)
Also I talked him down from 460 for the pair so that's pretty good too :D
-

Yeah, I seem to remember you saying that you didn't care about 'em before...
On topic, I just used a (Valentine's *Awww*) *ahem* giftcard for GS to p/u the PS3 version (sealed) of The Walking Dead as well as charming my way into another FE: Awakening art book (ask at your local GS stores - mine had a drawer full of them:)
-
Sounds like a good a way as any to spend a voucher!

Haha!
Is there ever a "bad" way to spend someone else's money? :o
-
Sometimes - when you spend it all on one thing and then an hour later remember that other thing you really wanted D:

Hmm. I may need you to go back there and see if you can snag another one. haha

Good deal on those sleeves. lol
$300 isn't to bad for the pair. seeing that BB2 goes for $250+ and RR2 goes for about $100 (cart only) Grats on adding 2 rare titles to your collection. ;D

I'm glad you mentioned the sleeves are was starting to wonder if it was going over people's heads :D
Thanks. I thought that it was a good deal in my favor, nothing amazing but the fact that I could inspect them in person before buying them was a selling point for me.

Did you try at your local GS yet?
If they don't have one, I'll definitely try turning on the charm, yet again (w/ a different employee, next time...it's *MUCH* easier to charm 'em...than it is to Re-charm the same one over & over) :P
Let me know if ya can't find one...odds are pretty good that if I end up there (while someone else is working) -considering how many they have there)- that I'll be able to snag another one 8)

Ya I read that 3 times to make sure I was reading it right.
Congrats!

I just got a text from my wife saying she got some games at a thrift shop. Keep our fingers crossed that it's something awesome.
Unfortunately I also had to buy the 2 sleeves and they cost me 280 :( :( :(
Those are two sleeves I'd love to have. ;). Congrats

Well, she didn't do too shabby.
Lion king (SNES) CIB $4
Monopoly (SNES) boxed $4
Robocop 3 (SNES) loose $4
Gauntlet Legends (N64) $4
Not too bad at all.
@jcalder8 I'll keep that in mind.
-
I traded one of my last spare game keys for Sonic Generations on PC the other day, yeeee.
-
Man I still need Sonic Generations. Tho I'd prolly go 360...
-
Got my tax return money, and decided to use $100 of it to blow on games. Here's what I got:
-Astal (Saturn)
-Bucky O' Hare (NES)
-Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
-Contra Advance: The Alien Wars EX (GBA) (Won an auction for only $4.05 and free shipping!)
-Ninja Gaiden: The Dragon Sword (DS)
-Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (PS1)
I also got the Iron Man: Armor Wars trade paperback collection (collect Iron Man #225-#232).
So all in all, a pretty good haul.
-
Hopefully you get your MM Legends 2. Sorry you missed that last deal I mentioned to ya.

Another time. That is next on my radar. Along with the Rayman for PS1, which is actually quite cheap (thankfully).

It's bribery. They're afraid I'll bring my wife back. ;D

I keep telling myself I'm done this month, but I couldn't resist picking up Tales of the Abyss and Ocarina of Time on 3DS.
I really should stop putting it off and actually buy a 3DS, though.
-
I keep telling myself I'm done this month
This is a phrase that repeats in my head many many times and never really works.

I am so glad I didn't let the flu keep me in bed today.

Biohazard 3: Last Escape (with spine card)
Beatmania (Main + 2nd Mix Append disc + manual, no spine?)
Beamania Append Gottamix (with spine card)
Stranglehold (PC, sealed)
Instinct (PC, sealed - rated 1.7 on IGN!)
Taiko Drum Master (game only) with PS2 Memory Card
For the total of THIRTEEN DOLLARS. This particular seller brought a ton of movies, CDs, and games. I saw way too many copies of The Sims there, yech. Still, I grabbed everything except Beatmania and she told me it was $11 total. I hesitated but I figured the Japanese games would be worth it for the trade factor. Then I came back later and found Beatmania in a pile of stuff next to where I found Biohazard and Gottamix. She said $2. I'm broke now but damn I got some good stuff.
Fun fact:
That memory card only has two files: The PS2 configuration, and the save game for Taiko Drum Master. Both were last modified in 2007.

Added another piece to the ol' Castlevania Shrine today. And with it I'm as complete as I and my wallet will let me be, until Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadow 2 release.

-
Lol thats a great sticker. I wish NA games were more playful like the Jap versions. Ours are straight forward and boring. :-\
Speaking of shrine, thanks to Desocietas, I got a few more pieces for my DQ shrine. A VI poster and a game convention IX booklet. :)

I much prefer the Westernized artwork of the NES carts over stuff like that. That just look childish to me.

Tell me about it. I'm already plotting stuff to pick up when I get paid on Thursday. I think I may be developing an addiction to imports...

LOL, so much for restraint. Just bought a 3DS XL on Newegg - only $170!
-
Congrats scott! It looks like it is in great condition!
Congrats insektmute! After playing with an XL I wish that I had waited.
As for me, I accdently sent my cell through the washing machine on Sunday so today I bought a new phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 2. This thing is massive and I love it :D(thanks go out to my wife for letting me buy it :) )
-
Between Scott's Castlevania find, my 3DS XL find, and he and I both waiting for our copies of Muchi Muchi Pork and Pink Sweets to arrive, I'd say we're both hitting the jackpot this month :)
-
Congrats scott! It looks like it is in great condition!
Thanks! It really is, both this and Belmont's Revenge are in great shape. And I even was able to snag Kid Dracula using money made from selling Saturn stuff, woot. It's funny, the seller said the cart for Kid Dracula was worn, but I don't see anything except for some yellowing on the back label.

Haha, ya. I have to get some good finds in before I reign in my spending, right? I think Muchi Muchi Pork / Pink Sweets and Etrian Odyssey IV are gonna be my last February additions. And then I have a few preorders coming in eventually... debating on cancelling SMT: Soul Hackers... Not sure. I have Castlevania: Mirror of Fate in March, but after that I think I'm gonna have to cut down on game buying a lot. Though I am still planning something special with the change I'm saving for the "Save Your Change" thread. Something I've wanted for awhile now.

debating on cancelling SMT: Soul Hackers...
Blasphemy! Low print run on a game that's been held back from US release for over a decade, plus a soundtrack CD? Pre-orders don't get much more mandatory than that :)

True, and I've never played a legit SMT game before. So I guess this would be my cheapest option. haha

Well, more unexpected finds... and story time.
I stumbled upon a couple of old friends at the flea market today. One of them is a big Smashing Pumpkins fan and I told him that the lady that owned the booth where I got those games yesterday had an album that seemed strange to me. It definitely didn't look like one of their studio albums. It turned out to be something called Infinite Conversations (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/1587143/a/Infinite+Conversation-Interview.htm), and he wasn't really going to buy it, but he is a collector... and the seller said the CDs were two for one dollar, so he grabbed it.
He started poking around the CDs (they were dumped on a table now) and I walked there, and noticed the two Beatmania append discs! I grabbed them. One of them is missing the spine card but the other is complete. Since I wouldn't have gotten those two if I hadn't met my friend and told him about the Smashing Pumpkins album, I said I'd pay for it. When I got my change, I gave it to him and said "Happy birthday and christmas". :P
That Dukes of Hazzard game is a racing game. I wasn't going to touch it, but the discs had HDCD stamped on 'em. I've never seen any game shipped on HDCD form before! It actually uses redbook audio tracks. HDCD redbook audio. O_o
As for the other find...
I saw this PS1 system at a booth where I tend to get expensive games and stuff. The add-on thing caught my attention, it's a VCD expansion thing that lets you watch, well, VCDs. But that's not what made me buy this. No sir. This is a Japanese SCPH-1000 model. It has Serial, RCA, Speaker, S-Video, AND PS1 video output cables (http://gotps3.ru/files/articles/010511_264301050.jpg). I have no idea if it works, but even if it doesn't, I can recoup my costs pretty easily if I sell it for parts. :D
-
Today I got the Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Limited Edition! (PS3)
The fun thing here is that I actually pre-ordered the normal edition on bestbuy.ca, but some error happened and, at no extra cost, I got the limited edition. In fact, I pre-ordered the normal edition for 50$ (tax and shipping included), so I paid 50$ for the 150$ limited edition.
Similar to this story, my friend pre-ordered the exact same thing as me for the same price, but Best Buy sent him the 360 version instead of the PS3 one. Weird.
Anyways... the box is huge, and the plasma lamp is cool. Can't wait to play this once this PS4 thing ends.

Ha, well, I guess it also depends on what we consider a "legit SMT game." I mean, you've played Persona 3 and 4.
Digital Devil Saga was my first SMT game, and I honestly haven't played more than like an hour of Nocturne and know that a lot of people feel like it's the best one (but I do own it! *ducks*).
-
Oh I meant main series. I get the impression that Persona 3 and 4 are far and away different from main series SMT games. Then again I don't really know.
-
Nocturne was actually the first one I bought, but I played maybe about 10 hours, got my ass kicked because I realized how the fusion system worked way too late into the game, and set it aside. I pre-ordered Persona 3 though, sunk about 120 hours into it, then went back and gave Nocturne a proper playthrough.
<3 me some Digital Devil Saga, too. I think that one and Nocturne might be my favorites in terms of character and world design.
-
That kinda happened with me and Persona 3. I played about 10 hours of it and loved it, but was having a tough time with some parts. Then I realized how Social Links worked. But my PS3 wiped my save file on me and I put it down, cause I didn't feel like starting over.
Totally love that game and the whole mythos of the Persona series. I only need Persona 2 for PS1 and I'll have a version of everything.. I was really hoping for a PSP port of it like they did the 1st half. :(
-

Ditto. I lucked out on picking up Eternal Punishment a few years back, but it was disappointing that we didn't get the PSP port over here. Even if the extras are relatively minimal, I wanted to see them side-by-side on the shelf... touching each other as only reunited twins can. *cough*
Ah well. Shin Megami Tensei IV is on the horizon, and Persona 5 can't be too far behind :)
-
Got some cool stuff in the mail today! I got a copy of Shadowgate and a CIB copy of Wizardry for NES.
-
Got a Fire Emblem art book today thanks to a friend of mine. He actually got ahold of me to say he might have one at his store, after he saw a tweet of mine about my pre order lacking it.
And my copy of Muchi Muchi Pork / Pink Sweets came in! Crazy fast shipping straight from Hong Kong! I was honestly expecting it to take a least a week or better.

Didn't you have it sent via FedEx (or similar)? In my experience regular airmail from Hong Kong tends to take about a week or two (three at the worst) but I've had UPS literally deliver next day from Play-Asia before :D

The magazine covers are almost as good as the TG16 game boxart. They are pretty neat magazines though. Tough to find.

Probably my last purchase this month, but just picked up Street Fighter X Tekken because I apparently have a compulsive need to own too many fighting games.

The first step is admitting you have a problem :D

Second step is buying more fighting games.

must collect them all :)
-
Well, I am still waiting for Samurai Spirits Zero to arrive, and the JP version of NeoGeo Battle Coliseum just came in... :)
-
What format did you get SS Zero on? I bought it for my MVS but so far I've only had a quick go.
-
I went into Goodwill yesterday and they had about 150 games, I picked out the best of what they had :)
I spent about 70 on everything but I'll be reselling a couple of things to cover the cost.
FINALLY!!!! I have been wanting one for the last 4 years and I finally pulled the trigger on this lot
(http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb141/jcalder8/P2250003_zps74ce554a.jpg)
I used some birthday money that I got so it only cost me about a dollar after that :D

Picked up the PS2 port. I've heard mixed things, but I got a good deal on it, so I figured I'd check it out for myself. Should be arriving any day now, come to think of it, but shipping times from Japan always seem a bit random.
Also just scored a black label copy of Garou: MotW, so uh... there's that, too :p
-
Exactly the same reason I bought mine! :D
-
I found this thing at the flea market today for a buck, apparently new.
It's ugly as hell and I'm not a baseball fan, but eh, I'll stick it on my desk so it doesn't look less cluttered than usual. :P
I also got a wallscroll.
Again, it was a buck. It's a bit beat up in the edges... and to be honest I'm not sure what I'll do with it considering I don't even like Sonic. I'll probably trade it away or something.
-
@Kimimi:
Seeing Foxhack's image of Sonic (in the above post) made me curious/reminded me about the art work that you'd been doing...
...How's it been going - have you done anything new and/or different lately or completed any of your 'commisions'?!
-
Etrian Odyssey IV came in today. So I promptly opened it up to rip the CD... and there is no manual?! BOOoooooo.
-
Actually looking again, there are no Nintendo advertising flyers. No club Nintendo things. Nothing in there but the cart. Wtf?
-
Also got my Etrian Odyssey IV. Well... turns out bestbuy.ca didn't have any in stock for pre-orders even though I pre-ordered it months ago, so I cancelled my pre-order and went to buy it at Best Buy... LOGIC!
Also received Hatsune Miku on Vita because... I feel sorry for the Vita so I bought a japanese game I have no idea if I'll like just to have something to play on it. w00!

Same here, just the stupid health booklet that Nintendo insists on cramming into every device known to civilization. I'd been expecting the artbook to be physical too, but oh well... extra free stuff, can't complain too much.
-

Yeah, he said it all: "Well, this is kinda disappointing."
Feels like mixed messages...
"Buy the physical product, get a artbook/CD thing!"
"Buy the physical product, and we'll just give you the game. That's all you wanted, right? Yeah, there you go. Blurgh."
The thin artbook isn't a replacement for the manual. Which makes me feel worse for the unknowing folks who buy the second printing...
-
Remembered that Nintendo allow you to use foreign cards on their eshop, so I bought myself the new Animal Crossing on 3DS :)

The worst part is EO III had a sweet manual, and other info pamphlets in it. Kinda like how old RPGs were, and I was really expecting the same thing from EOIV. But on this one, I really kinda feel let down by Atlus. Hell, Code of Princess had a pretty thick manual and that didn't come out too long ago.
Makes me wonder what kind of treatment SMT: DS: Soul Hackers is going to get now... :'(
-
I can deal if Soul Hackers is a little barebones, but someone's gonna get shanked if SMT4 isn't enough to make all of us do ninja moves of glee. Still bothers me that one isn't going to be a console release, too - SMT4, 1080p, 60fps. Make it happen, Atlus... or at least put it on Vita because dat OLED screen.

I'm a little annoyed that PS2:EP won't be a physical release and that it's a straight port to PSN. So much Persona love out there... I hope something eventually happens for that title in the future.
-
Yeah, I was rather bummed about that, too. I have it on PS1, but really would've liked to have at least one platform where Eternal Punishment and Innocent Sin and properly joined, so to speak.
Well, without learning Japanese, anyway. Le sigh.

Same.
Also chomping at the bit for some SMT-Goodness (either SMT IV and/or Persona V will do just fine, thankee-sai)...
...ON. A. CONSOLE; dammit!!!
Bonus points if it's on a console that I already *own* :P
Hell, If I had *MY* way - both games would be released for both the PS3 & the PS4 simultaneously :)
ATLUS, Make It So ;D
-
Oh yeah, back on topic -
(Like Scott), I also received my "boxed" copy of EO IV in yesterday's mail :)
-
Hell, If I had *MY* way - both games would be released for both the PS3 & the PS4 simultaneously :)
PS3/PS4/Vita cross-play, so I CAN NEVER ESCAPE IT. Muahaha.

Nice = all bases covered, then 8)
Personally, as great of a system as I know that the Vita is, and as much as I like to blow $ on entertainment/non-essential things...it still needs some more games (RPG's & JRPG's, in particular) before I'll buy one!
-
Yeah, it's a tough call for a lot of people. I've been really happy with mine, but Gravity Rush is the only original title I've picked up so far - the rest have all been enhanced ports like Disgaea 3, Persona 4: Golden, etc.
My biggest gripe? Memory card pricing :/
-
Yeah, the high cost of the propietary memory cards isn't nudging me any closer to being in a rush to get one, either :(
That said, had I not already (*Re*)-played both Disgaea 3 & Persona 4 multiple times each...they would have both been more incentive for me to buy one sooner rather than later...
On a completely different note, when I added EO IV to the rest of my 3-DS games yesterday...I had a bit of a "WtF" moment when I realized that (not counting any multiple copies)...Etrian Odyssey 4 *only* makes 3-DS game # 15 for me...seems like I've been buying/collecting more games than *that* for it...but...I guess not :(
-
You're 2 ahead of me and I felt the same way.
-
Has anyone here opened-up their copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening yet?
A friend of mine told me that it also came w/o a physical manual...W.T.F.'s going on? >:(
-
I opened up my Fire Emblem as soon as it came (I have a bad habit of opening things and never leaving them sealed). It came with a Pamphlet, quarter folded. Kinda like a mini poster and half of it was in French...
But at least it came with some Advertising flyer and a Club Nintendo code. EOIV has NOT A DAMN THING IN IT.
-
(I have a bad habit of opening things and never leaving them sealed).
Heh :)
I used to have the *very* same habit & tear into & open everything up as soon as I'd get it ???
Now...99% of the time...I'll keep *everything* sealed - right up until I'm ready to pop the game into a system 8)
-
I found Black Belt and Space Harrier for Master System, both CIB (carts in great shape, manuals not so much) for $3 total.

I've been starting to go that route, esp since I have so little time these days to actually play things. Kinda nice to keep 'em minty fresh, especially if they become rare-ish and I find a decently priced used copy that I can play without feeling like I'm messing with a potential investment.
-
I've thought about doing that, but usually wind up ripping off the packaging out of fear that the shrinkwrap will wind up sticking to stuff, or a security sticker will wind up tearing a piece of the cover that's sticking up too far. Paranoia O.O
-
Meh. I'm not in it for potential investment, plus I try to scan everything for the site asap now anyways.
-

Ha, I just scan it through the plastic - that's what I did for FE:A ;D
-
I mean the cart/disc scan. Ha
-
I always unseal games as they arrive just so I can have a good look through whatever they've put inside (which isn't much these days!) - if I've not bought it to play then I shouldn't have bought it at all IMO.
-

get the games to play not for decoration

Ah, gotcha. Good jorb, you completionist, you.
And to keep on topic, I got my EOIV in the mail today! Not bad for regular free shipping.

I know, right?!
What a shock finding people that both play games & *collect* them...on a...*GASP*...Video Game Collection site :o
-
Oh I'm not saying that its a bad thing and I get it. But on games I'm gonna play anyway I'd rather open them sooner than later. Especially if they get pricey, cause then there's the whole pang of guilt for cracking open a spendy title.
Plus I like seeing what's inside too. I bet if I had opened EOIV 2 years from now, I would have been much more let down by its contents. Ha
-
I wasn't directing that at you, at all, Scott :)
I don't have any "Hannah Montana"'s in my collection, either...I just don't open 'em 'till I'm ready to play them.
-
Oh dear was that aimed at me then? Because my thinking is like Scott's - I bought it to play so I may as well unwrap it now and satisfy my curiosity.
-
Anyone else just find it kinda fun to open a bunch of new goodies up? It's like Christmas every time! :p
-
Anyone else just find it kinda fun to open a bunch of new goodies up? It's like Christmas every time! :p
Oh totally. I used to do that as soon as I could, making sure I had a nice, clean area to take everything in.
But I've found that I'll buy a game, open it up and look at everything, but never get around to playing it for another few months... or years. At this point, I sometimes prefer to leave them sealed if I know I won't be playing it immediately. For things like the Etrian Odyssey series, I've only played the first one, so I'm a bit hesitant about seeing the insides of the sequels... I feel like it'd give away too much.
-

Nope!
Not at you either, Kimimi :)
It was directed at stethebubble for calling our un-opened games "decorations".
I also only buy games that I want to play myself (admittedly, I will sometimes, speculatively, purchase more than 1 copy of things that I think are likely to become tomorrow's "Suikoden-2's")...but...nothing that ANY anonymous (hell, or even someone that's *not* anonymous:) says on-line will ever make me feel bad/lose any sleep over that :P
Also, *MY* reason for not opening up my games right away anymore is because, since I've lost my hand, I've found that I've bought some games here 'n' there that I *thought* that I'd be able to play one-handed...and then...later (sadly), would find out by, say, trying it-out at a friend's house...that it was just physically not possible for me to do so.
Shit, using even 1/4 of my brain, I can figure out - that in these instances - I'm better off having the game still sealed as I can (*obviously*) get more of what I spent on it back, that way 8)
TL;DR
I Don't Keep 'Em Sealed Just To Decorate My House With Them ;)
That's the thing w/ making *ASSUMPTIONS* about other people, though ;D
-
I wasn't directing that at you, at all, Scott :)

I didn't think you were. :)

My entire NES collection is a decoration. I really am not that interested in the system anymore other than filling my wall. I honestly wish I hadnt started going for a full NES set. I also have a number of sealed items simply cause I got them about the same price as CIB and may as well take the sealed instead. Once my son gets old enough to respect the game area, I will be able to go in there freely and play the games I have instead of just using my whole room as a locked up display.

That is sad that so many games are locked up and not being played. :'(

Final find of the month: And it was free.
Dead Island GOTY Edition for Steam courtesy of Raptr. There were only 5000 keys and I managed to snag one.
-
Just snagged King of Fighters: NeoWave and Yakuza: Dead Souls on the uber cheap, woot!
Not-woot: Rent is due in a couple days :(
-
I know its sad. My DQ stuff will get used in time but atm that time is not now. The other sealed stuff I have is stuff I found in the wild (most of it is in my for sale thread). As far as the NES stuff goes, its more of a "collection" than gaming to me for those. My NES wall is kind of like a big collague thats ever changing. A few of the games have gotten played in the last year (Rygar, Bionic Commando, Faria, Metroid, etc) but for the most part, its just something to look at and admire.
-
well I guess my final snag was Power Stone for the Dreamcast. It's kinda funny I found the case for it at the Flea Market months ago and the lady selling it just let me have since there was nothing in it, and finally said "fuck it" and got the disc.

Also I stopped at a flea market and found a vendor selling a stack of laser discs, I first saw some Looney Toon sets (grabbed those) then flipping through the movies something caught my eye. A Pioneer Laseractive Game, Space Berzerker a game that goes for $50-80 on ebay. Now I have 2 games for my Laseractive. (and boy do they suck. lol) Bought them at $10 a piece.
Then my Cheetahmen kickstarter games came in the mail.
Also at another flea market found a sealed copy of Beyond Good and Evil (PS2) for $10, I already had an opened copy but couldn't pass up a sealed copy of this great game.
Also love the lamp that came with Metal Gear Rising CE. :D
-
Ooh do you have a PC-FX too theflea? I love mine! I don't own Deep Blue Fleet though - any good?
This arrived today -

So awesome. Looks almost like a prettier Atomiswave :)
-
Atomiswave is the last format I really want to get :D
-
Atomiswave is the last format I really want to get :D
Are they real pricey - I've actually never even heard of an Atomiswave?!
-
As far as arcade hardware goes, the Atomiswave really wasn't priced too badly last I checked. Demand is pretty low now too, mostly because the console ports are all pretty solid.
I still kinda want one though, mostly for Dolphin Blue. Never played it, but it looks really cool!
-
It has a unique version of Knights of Valour that I really want to play, that's my main reason for wanting one ^^~
