Title: Club Nintendo
Post by: andrew on August 15, 2011, 12:36:16 pm
So apparently all of those Nintendo game and hardware PIN registration numbers are worth something, and apparently I never payed enough attention to figure this out.

What cool content, gifts, or awards have you received through Club Nintendo? Should I expect any cool perks/gifts? Any award recommendations? Right now I'm eyeing the exclusive Club Nintendo Game & Watch DS games and the giant AR cards for the 3DS. (I just bought a 3DS on the price drop day, and I'm extremely pleased with this purchase!)

Every year they have a special item for users that get Gold and Elite status. Gold members, usually get a calendar, while Elite members usually get something way cooler (Mario Hat, Figurines, etc).

Recently they re-released the Game & Watch game Ball as a redeemable reward.

I've gotten some poster sets and a really nice bag I have the  Flame Red 3DS on pre-order through Amazon so I'll prolly get the Giant AR card soonish as well as the Donkey Kong Anniversary posters. I really want the  Game & Watch DS games too though... ha

You can get some really awesome stuff! Here's what I've gotten thus far, and I'm totally addicted to the stuff. Just to clarify, I'm a Nintendo fanboy :)

The calendars are pretty nice... reversible with large calendar on one side with a little art, while the other side focuses on the art with a little calendar strip at the bottom of the image.  I'm looking forward to getting mine at the end of the year.  I got the messenger bag a few months ago and am enjoying it.  If anything, it didn't come with washing instructions, so I'm not exactly sure how to clean it.

If you have a lot of games, I'd say be careful with how many you register!  I only try to register up to getting gold status and no more (save it for the following year!).  I've never had enough to get platinum, but it's a tricky gamble since they don't initially tell you what the reward will be.  And once they do, you only get the option of getting the platinum reward OR the gold reward - not both.

I would have loved to get my hands on that Mario & Co. statuette that they gave away the year before last. This year I am getting another Calendar.

I know, that's the one year I didn't qualify for Platinum Status, and the sucky thing is...I had plenty of codes. I just went through a period where I wasn't visiting the Nintendo site much and totally botched it. That statue is awesome. I've got the button set coming this year, and a collector friend has offered to sell me his calender since he only hit Gold.

It's totally lame that they don't throw in the calendar along with the Platinum award.

Also, @abuccilli, after registering a game, you will usually get the chance to do a follow-up survey about the item.  It can be a little tedious, but it's an easy way to grab a few more points to get a reward you really want.

I got the statue last year.  I was trying to be good this time and not spend so much money.  I qualified for the calendar this year.  I'm still trying to get enough coins for the Game & Watch Collection 1, since I have the second one.

Thanks everybody for the info! Feel free to keep posting any pics of the prizes/rewards.

@brettybluevein I like your mario hat game holder. Did they stop offering it as a reward, or did you acquire it elsewhere?

I'll keep the tips in mind, but hopefully I didn't screw myself over yesterday by registering everything I had. Even though my Wii and DS Lite didn't give me any coins, I still made it up to 1,000 coins! (My Wii games since the console's launch provided most of these coins because 75% of them are Nintendo. Of course, the 3DS helped a lot too!)

I think I'm going to be fine though because I'll likely get the Game & Watch DS game (800 Coins) and the giant AR card (200 Coins). Are there any preferences over the Game & Watch Collection 1 or 2?

Last, check out this video for some GIANT AR card fun!

Maybe we should top them?!

@abuccilli Yeah, I got it from Club Nintendo and now that reward isn't offered anymore, I'm really glad I got it when I did. It holds 8 DS games or 10 3DS games.

I can't give any advice on which DS game to grab because I left both of mine sealed for collectibility.

Back on topic, I can see why they'd want to ship it out in as small a container as possible, but why fold it? They could roll it into a poster tube...

By the way guys, you can still even put in codes from Wii launch games; the end dates are ridiculous. When they started the Platinum/Gold Elite thing, I started putting in codes, so I had a backlog of games. I go in every July and put in enough codes to flag as Platinum, and those game cases go into one box while the unused code cases go into another. Last year I finally used all my DS games, so this year I actually started using some of my Wii games. (And for reference, the Zelda/Mario/DK poster sets do come in tubes. And the Game and Watch Collection games are cool to own, but they don't hold a candle to the gameboy Gallerys.)

On the topic of Club Nintendo, I *hate* that the time to register apps/games downloaded onto the 3DS is super limited (something like 7 days or less)?  I've lost out on the opportunity for a lot of coins already...

Yeah, some of their deadlines are *super* long and far away... which makes the super short deadlines for the eShop items very frustrating.

Just a reminder that the post-play surveys for the recent batch of ambassador downloadable titles were set to expire on Dec 30 for me... might be the same for others?
Edit: The expiry date is for the first batch of ambassador freebies, not the most recent one.  The second batch have a due date of 4/21 for me.
Title: Re: Club Nintendo
Post by: scott on December 29, 2011, 08:24:17 am
Just confirmed my replacement calendar page, ha.

Also, while I wish I could have gotten in on the Ambassador games. The original price of the 3DS is something I couldn't justify when it was first released. I'll be getting a red 3DS soonish though, once I recoup from Christmas and snowboard gear, ha. I need to get it before the take down Four Swords...
Title: Re: Club Nintendo
Post by: desocietas on December 29, 2011, 11:14:01 am
Yeah, the flame 3DS looks pretty good... my friend got a non-red one during that week of the early price drops right before the deadline for ambassador status.  Seemed like the way to go if you wanted those free 20 games.  Not a huge thing to me, as I don't really play the older titles, but I enjoyed the pleasant surprise/return of Fire Emblem.

Huh, odd that some of the coin values are actually going UP for 3DS games... I was saving typing in OoT 3D and Super Mario 3D Land for the next Club year, to help for the 2013 Platinum, and now I'm happy I did!  xD

A little sad the eShop games seem to be dropping to 5 coins, though... less for the actual coin value, though, and moreso because then my coins might end up uneven!  I like nice, round numbers! :(

On this same topic, if you're only a few away from Gold or Platinum status, you've only got until June 30th to get there to get the rewards for the year. The pins weren't that cool last year, but the little statuette the year before that was great. The plush Mario hat the year before that was pretty cool too.

Title: Re: Club Nintendo
Post by: amauriel on June 13, 2012, 10:46:44 pm
600 coins for Platinum. But that's total over the year. So my balance is like 400 but my total for the year was 850 or so, so way over for Platinum. I had bought the 3DS card case and the Zelda posters.

I had a bunch of points that were going to expire this month as well has having a handful of games I hadn't registered yet, so I punched those in last night and cashed them in for the messenger bag.  I was hoping to save up enough to get Game and Watch 2 or the actual Game & Watch, but it's going to be awhile before I get 800 or 1200 coins.

I also had trouble registering one of my games, which I needed to hit Gold status for the year.  I sent them an email and hope they can straighten that out so I can get another lame calendar or whatnot for hitting Gold :)

Nice!  I have that bag, too.  They don't say it anywhere, but there's a little piece of velcro (I think) that holds the inside opening closed a bit.  But I don't like to use it too much 'cause I'm afraid it might be pretty limited.

Just to let everyone know that the count for next year's Platinum reward has reset, so if you've been holding back on inserting codes, do it now!

Just gotta wait a little bit for nintendo to announce this year's Platinum prize. I'm keeping my expectations way low after last year's pins.

Another post!

The Platinum/Gold rewards popped up on the Club Nintendo website last night but were taken down, but IGN caught it and made a post for them:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/06/club-nintendos-2012-platinum-and-gold-prizes-revealed

So either posters or clear plastic playing cards for platinum.

For Gold, either the usual calendar or a downloadable game:
Club Nintendo Calendar - 2013
Super Mario Kart
Metroid II: Return of Samus
Mario vs DK: Minis March Again!
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Im tired of the same gold option every year. This is my 3rd calendar. They put so much effort into the platinum. :( I would have loved to have gotten the soundtrack.

I barely make gold every year. There just isnt enough crap out there Im interested in enough to get platinum.  :-\

I'm feeling pretty good about my decision to not register anymore games until they have better rewards. The only games that get registered are my WiiU downloads, and that's only because it does it automatically. If you guys want to feel really disappointed, just wait until the Japanese rewards are announced. They always get better stuff than we do.

I'm in the same boat :\

I'm not a big fan of the downloads as giveaways... I can buy that stuff with real money.  Give us stuff we can't buy!

Just ordered the soundtrack. It will take up less room. If anyone doesn't want any of it, I'd love to have that Luigi Poster.

They really have a rather miniscule selection right now. I wish they can offer more then what they have and restock a lot of the items as well.

Yeah I thought they'd sent them way in advance, but I just went through my old emails for the previous years and it looks like shipping confirmations usually went out at the end of November.  *clock ticking*

Maybe they had a defect in the CDs or something, and it pushed it back a little.

Hopefully not, that'd suck.

I did get a shipping confirmation, but I did order the Link Between Worlds posters so that's probably what the confirmation was for...
*checks club nintendo account*
... yup, no sign of the platinum reward.

Seems like everybody who's got an e-mail has asked for the posters, so I guess it will take a while longer to get the soundtracks. I guess I won't have it by Christmas, but oh well. It's for me, so it's alright. I'll just receive gifts over a longer period of time  8)

Guess who has 2 3DSs and 1 2DS to put in. I'm figuring that will give me enough coins to get that bad boy.

My soundtrack shipped out yesterday too!

a 3DS is 160 coins and a 2DS is 100, so unless you already have 1000 coins, you will still need a bit more.   :(

Yeah, I really wish I could've saved for that if I knew it was coming. I have about half the coins that is costs. Hopefully it'll still be in stock when I get that much...
They should've made that the Platinum reward!

They're physical stock of stuff is getting smaller and smaller. A lot of stuff is gone. I think they're moving towards they're digital game download offers as the only rewards and are just getting rid of what's left of their physical stock.

I picked up one of those 3DS card cases, the Zelda one. It'll be nice for when I'm on the go, but otherwise my games stay in their original cases.

wii-u only give me 160 points. that seems harsh since 1 wii-u game is 60. so thats 100 points for the system.

oh well.

hey at least you got to register your wii u.  My game pad will not recognize my wifi network that i use to connect my lap top with and according to the website, you have to register your wii u via gamepad.  I emailed nintendo to ask if they could manual put in my serial number and they said no so i dont get to register mine  :(

The description of the item says "Fits Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DSi, and Nintendo DS Lite", so it probably won't fit an XL.  :(
