Title: Battle Kid 2: Mountain of Torment Demo now available
Post by: scott on August 17, 2011, 10:52:17 am
The guys that released Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril for the NES a couple years ago are working on a sequel, Battle Kid 2: Mountain of Torment. And the just released a demo for it over at NES World.
The original game is available only through RetroZone, a vendor of USB connectors and homebrew NES games built into re-production cartridges. I picked up a copy of the original a year or so ago, it's kind of a mix between old school platformer shooters, like Mega Man, and crazy difficult level layout like Super Meat Boy.
Needless to say, I'm pretty hyped about this. Downloading the demo tonight.

I played the demo yesterday (didn't finish it though, I can't play battle kid with a keyboard >_<), the gameplay seems pretty much identical to the first, though ome of Sivak's videos show some new gameplay elements later on. I'm pretty hyped for this.

@matt Oh I'm watching this like a hawk. And you should get the 1st one too. I'll prolly pick up his other 2 games soonish, just to help support him some more.

This is a really late bump, but there has finally been info for the game's release.
The game is done and the code was submitted to Retrousb for production recently. It was said that the game would be out within 3-4 weeks after that.
There should be 2 release options: #1 - Cart + manual for approx. $35 #2 - CIB + an art booklet that showcases unused/altered ideas for about $7 more.

Awesome. I'll be getting it, for sure. Prolly just go with the cart and manual version, so it matches my copy of BK1

And the dev has no idea why it's not up on the website yet... I guess I can take another day or 2 of delay, since it WAS supposed to come out in September.

IT SOLD OUT! DAMMIT!
I hate those retrousb guys, everytime I want to deal with them something stupid happens. This time they say it comes out on the 14th, and after waiting all day for it to pop up, they put it on sale and it sales out while I'm sleeping (on the 15th, of course).
Last time I bought their Mr Gimmick, it didn't work and they took almost 3 months to fix it.

So now you can order it, but it will just ship at some undisclosed/unknown time next year... I put up my order for a boxed copy, but I'm annoyed that I'll have to wait AND that I don't even know I don't know how long I'll have to wait.

Incompetence & (what should be professionl things), handled in less than professional ways like this drives me wild/some of my BIGGEST annoyances, pet-peeves, and reasons to not do business w/ said unprofessionals ever again...that...and...
NO PHYSICAL COPIES OF GAMES - ONLY reason that I'm not buying Crimson Shroud.
Oh, that & Digital-only copies of games - that later get physical copies >:(
