Sometimes I actually wonder if the VGA sells and buys their own games at ridiculous prices to make it seem like the VGA is actually worthwhile.

I mean... I don't know anyone who has ever used VGA grading. Seems weird people will pay that much when I don't know a single collector who has used them.

Plus he has Dig Dug 2. My local retail store only has about 20 of those in stock. I'm sure Dig Dug 2 is driving up the price.

There is someone on the cover project forums selling N64 games that have been VGA graded.  He wants $250 for Perfect Dark, when a sealed copy goes for $25.  I called him out on it and he appealed to the moderators and got mine and a boat load of other posts deleted.

Now to the individual that believes that an arbitrary score and a plastic box quadruples a sealed games worth.  You are an idiot and nothing more than a con artist looking to screw over your fellow collectors.  You want to VGA your collection, fine.  But don't start slapping bullshit figures to in hoping to nab the first person with more money than good sense.  It's just an elitist nonsensical trifle that no honest collector would bother with.  /end rant   >:(

I'll admit the vga thing appeals to me a little.  I mean, it would be neat to have a few. I wouldn't want to buy one already graded.  Has anyone had their stuff graded?  What does it cost?

Looking at the website. It costs $25 if you want the game back in 1-2 months. $70 if you want it back in a week.

I won't knock anyone that thinks that way.  Just the people trying to make serious bank from cheap sealed games.

You know. The VGA is something I don't understand and would never do. But if people want to participate that's fine.

I count the VGA collecting as it's own subgenre that doesn't affect me. It's the same as the complete in box collectors. It's a whole different breed and most of the time doesn't affect prices outside. For example, I have been keeping an eye on Earthworm Jim for Game Gear. It won't sell for $10 loose. But boxed goes for $150.

If people want to form their own club of VGA collectors, that's fine. And props to the enterprising individual who gets 25-70 bucks for each game. They are a genius of capitalism.

I also have been collecting comics for years. Most people couldn't care less for CGC grading (comic equivalent of VGA). But some do and they spend A LOT more for those comics. But it's their money. They can do with it as they please.

I thought the same way about 6 months back until I saw the ridiculous price it costs to get it.. The only reason I liked it was the shell that came around it lol I could buy one for .50 lol

VGA definately does seem different than the other grading services out there. For AFA (toys), PSA/Beckett (card) and whoever does that comic book one... I know people that actually collect those graded items. However, I have yet to find someone who collects VGA items. Maybe I'm just not on the right forums.
