http://www.ebay.com/itm/181114804116 why are they so expensive? I just traded a working gamecube for his broken ps2(knowing we were both gonna be happy) me with more money and him being able to play. I listed on ebay about 1 hour ago for 29.99 for a untested ps2.... why is 10 ps2's going that high when 6 Xbox 360's that can't even sell for a quarter of that price

I wish had an answer for you. You would think that a system that sold a ridiculous amount of units. That this wouldn't be the case.

I don't get it either...

There is a guy on NA who forever has an open thread buying broken PS2s. I guess he fixes them and resells them. I dont know what else it would be however.

Bit depressing. I only got around $20 for my fat DRE-prone PS2 back in the day :/

I think they overpaid for the most part. They paid $40 per broken system with shipping included. Looking at completed auctions, they frequently go for a lot less.
But if somewhere this person is managing to sell them for a hefty profit, then it is a good score. But looking at completed listings, I can't see the markup being high enough to justify the labor/time cost, etc.

Fat PS2s + Network Adapter + Hard Drive = lots of money in South America.
These piracy machines sell quite a bit.

That's not just in South America.
