Haven't paid attention to E3 in a long time, but I'm actually kind of curious about how Microsoft is going to handle things. After that pathetic Xbox One reveal, their attempts to win back the fans are probably going to be hilarious.

I am interested to see if Sony and Microsoft differ much. This last console generation, it really came down to which controller one liked better. Same games minus a handfull of exclusives. This is one major positive I will give microsoft, they announced 8 new IPs from their studios. This is something the video game world has been missing. And a lot of their exclusives are fairly good and unique such as viva pinata.
I'm also anxiously awaiting the release of the DudeBro sequel from Microsoft.
Man, I hate Geoff Keighley, but if they're the only game in town, then I guess that's what I'm watching. I know, there's PC coverage, but I've always watched it from the comfort of my couch with the convenience of a DVR to FF through stupid crap.

Yeah, Spike will be showing Microsoft's and EA's press event and playing the movie Dodgeball during Sony's. Probably not showing Nintendo's 1 hour Direct.
Personally I'm most hyped for Nintendo's showing (Smash, new 3D Mario, Mario Kart, whatever Retro is working on, definitely more), since today's news about the Xbox One pretty much removes all chances I'll buy one new anyways, and I'm still waiting to see what Sony's plans are in regards to DRM. I'll still enjoy seeing what all the new games are for all the systems though.

It seems Nintendo has partnered with Best Buy to allow some of their games shown at e3 to be demoed at certain best buy stores for a few hours each day.

I'm pretty hyped for that, but it's for very limited hours at only around 10% of Best Buys in America. 4 hours on June 12th and 4 hours on June 15th is pretty limited. Thankfully one of the 3 best buys in my area will have the demos so I'm happy.
That might also explain why I'm more excited for Nintendo's offerings than the others.

Looks like Blizzard just announced Diablo III for Xbox 360. Not sure how I feel about these console versions at the moment. There are still lots of issues with Diablo III for PC. :-\

I would probably buy it for the 360. I really like the idea of Diablo on a console. BUT.... Blizzard games are always played best with hotkeys and shortcuts. Although Diable is not quite as hotkey intensive as starcraft, it still uses the keyboard way too much to be put on a controller imo.
But I will still definitely buy it.

I hope that Microshaft announces that they were full of shit and were not going to make a system this gen or any following gen and are going to return to what they do best (or worst) in the PC world so that I can ignore them for the rest of my natural life.
I hope Sony drops all sorts of awesome bombs on the world. Ni no Kuni 2, God of War 7-11, another new MK game with a full cast of characters like on Armageddon yet plays like MK2011!
I hope Nintendo announces that its not going to base every thing they do around the family gamer and they are going to get some real badass games for the Wii U making me actually interested in buying the system. Also that they are going to port over DQ VII for the 3DS and finally bring us our DQX.
I hope Sega really has something cool to say about the Spectrum other than its either a processor or some stupid cell phone thing.
In other words, probably a lot of pipe dreams. :(

I still have my original release, my PSOne, my PS2 and PS3. Holy crap! I forgot Square was still working on FF Versus. I'm glad they decided to continue giving everyone Bon Jovi hair circa 2002. It also seems to take place in a hallway. I make fun of it. But damn... do I honestly love FF 13. Seriously I do.

This was one of the most awesome moments in modern gaming history. This is beyond the old "Genesis does what Nintendon't" territory, they were just jabbing Microsoft straight in a big gaping wound with a freaking chainsaw. I laughed out loud when people started cheering like crazy in the conference hall.

I never thought I'd say this, but I may be in on the PS4. I was a huge 360 fan this generation, but Microsoft just screwed the pooch. They are continuing to do things that are pissing me and the rest of the gaming world off. The more I look at it, PlayStation has more exclusives that I would be into than XBox anyway. I could give 2 shits about Gears of War or Halo. I just have this deep desire to see Sony fail. And I can't shake it.

Microsoft pretty much handed their customers to their competitors. As far as PS plus is concerned they offered more than Microsoft did. Actually it's kind of funny that Microsoft ripped their idea of the 2 freebies. Nevermind the cash that some people have dumped into XBL just to use the same free stuff they use on their PC's. Nintendo, Sony you treat your consumers right and they will make sure you are taken care of.

Watching some of the trailers, I'm more pumped for the PS4 than the One anyway. I mean, MGS5? Yes please.
I truly believe that MS has already lost this generation. People are already making up their minds now - and anything MS does at this point will most likely be too little too late. Even IF they came out and did damage control at this point, I don't think it would make a huge difference.

The energy of Nintendo events are always so different from the others... so overly reserved (repressed, even?) that it almost becomes boring. I felt like they were overexplaining stuff and showing things repetitively while we need to pause and review other conferences for any sneak peaks they threw in for their giant montages.
In any case... CAT SUIT. Could look a lot cuter, but it's about time, considering that Japan has a whole island full of cats and loves cats as much as they do raccoons...

I love the mega man music. Plus, it ends with that boss from Mega Man 2 before the boss gauntlet. If he is in the game... epic.

My thoughts
MS: They seem to be doing whatever they want regardless of how much negative feedback they're getting from gamers. It's been non-stop barrage of negativity towards MS since they confirmed all the bad stuff about Xbox One. It's restrictive, not consumer-friendly and expensive. Do not want.
Sony: Pretty much came out and capitalized on the poor reception of the Xbox One. $100 cheaper, trading/selling games is the same as always, no online required, etc. I feels like they listened to consumers and gave us what we've asked for while MS seems to be doing whatever they want, regardless of what WE want.
Nintendo: A predictable and weak showing from them. All of the big titles they announced are 2014 releases. Why should someone buy a WiiU this year? Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and Watch Dogs are the only WiiU titles on my radar through this year. If they could assemble a strong lineup of games, especially some new IPs and 3rd party exclusives they would be in much better position. Next year is looking great though with stuff like Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8 and unnamed Monolith RPG. Hopefully they still have something left to show us at E3, like Metroid, Zelda, Starfox, F-Zero, etc. I really felt that this was the make or break moment for the WiiU and they totally dropped the ball.

Looks like I'm gonna be getting a PS4, maybe not on release but after I can walk into a store and get one without fighting a mob :P The Final Fantasy previews were exciting but nothing really super new. I am excited for FF15 but they announced it ages ago already. I'm happy Kingdom Hearts is coming back, its a fun game my girlfriend and I can play together.
What I found the most interesting is the sharp reversal of roles this year. Sony had a bad run with the PS3 because they were arrogant, not listening to consumers and just generally not doing such a great job. There was a lot of talk at one point about if they could even make a PS4 given their financial woes.
Microsoft was seen as the team that was bringing gaming back to the crowds, listening, offering a good experience with xbox live (although that got worse over time)
It seems that Microsoft are in it for the money this time, they want to spy on people, the price is higher (for weaker hardware) and it's very focused around entertainment outside of gaming it seems. You can tell that Sony has listened to the internet, the way they presented the no DRM stuff, no internet connection needed. etc They were smug but they listened. They were almost bragging on stage, "yeah we listened for once" and look at the reception they got. They listened to the consumers, which they hadn't been doing, and everything just instantly turned around for them.
It's weird to me how companies don't understand that listening to consumers will generate better results. I guess Microsoft is trying to use the Apple mindset but Apple isn't doing as well as it used too anymore because competitors came out offering what consumers want, not what a business tells them what they want. The tech business world is in such a strange place these days, lots of companies are changing their ways.

This is the full Metal Gear Solid V trailer. The only difference is the first four or five minutes which feature footage from cutscenes.
THIS FOOTAGE IS INCREDIBLY NOT SAFE FOR WORK. VIOLENT. VERY GRAPHIC. THERE ARE SCENES OF TORTURE. DO NOT WATCH UNLESS YOU CAN HANDLE IT.
If you saw that, then explain to me how Konami is going to sell this with an M rating, because if that was in a movie, it'd get bumped up to NC17 immediately. This is quite different from the standard cartoonish, limbs flying, heads rolling-style gibbing in games. There is - no way in hell - this will be released like that with an M rating. I can't see it happening.
