I actually had a lot of fun for the June game. I think Earthworm Jim was a little short which is both good and bad. Anyways, I learned a lot about the history and beat a game that would have sadly stayed in my backlog for way longer than it should have. If other people are up for it, we could make a list of games and the top 6 could last us through the year. Doing one game a month until 2014. This would also give people time to find games. If anyone is interested we can start the game voting process. I would nominate the following:
Psychonauts
Phantasy Star
Doom
Shadowrun
Skies of Arcadia
Trouble Shooter
If interested vote for any game you see or nominate your own!
Vote Count As of Justin's Psychonauts vote on page 2

i nominate
fear
quake
syndicate (not the 2012 one)
-
I own Phantasy Star and Psychonauts, so I'd be down for that whenever those get played!
-
I enjoyed Earthworm Jim, but couldn't beat the robot chicken in level 5. So I'm game for another one. I'll toss out the suggestions I said last month and also say is be down for Pyschonauts, Doom or Phantasy Star.
My suggestions:
NES
Batman
Bionic Commando
Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
Destiny of an Emperor
Faxanadu
Metal Gear

Hrmm this shows my attention span at times is pretty off. What is this? A month of playing a certain game? I missed it somehow. I will try to pay more attention this time! Out of the games listed, I would definitely be interested in the following :
Phantasy star (I was actually going to start this soon anyhow but this would give me a bonus reason to play it now)
Destiny of an emperor - if anyone likes RPGs, you should give this game a run. Its really unique and pretty fun
Bionic commando - Ive beaten this game as much as almost every game Ive ever played. Its super fun and awesome
Metal gear - the first one will always be my favorite.
I hope Phantasy star is picked honestly. :)
-
Yeah, we started a racket boy-esque together retro. Last month a lot of us played the first Earthworm Jim. I'll tally the votes and keep a running total soon. Just keep nominating and voting for games. Each time one is mentioned, that's a vote. You just can't vote more than once for a game.
-
Picking them ahead of time sounds like a good idea.
The 6 I'll be voting for are, in no particular order.:
1.Psychonauts
2.Conker's Bad Fur Day
3.EarthBound
4.Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
5.StarTropics
6.Zombies Ate My Neighbors
-
i think we should have two or three games per vg connect, it give more people a chance to do this
-
I think games that appear on multiple platforms helps too, like say:
Resident Evil
Aladdin
Chrono Trigger
Castlevania SoTN
Bomberman
Grandia
Although, it's likely most people have played these because they are on multiple systems... just a thought I guess

Hmm... I still need to play through Chrono Trigger... :-[

Oh man, that'd be a good excuse to replay one of my favorite games... StarTropics, that is :P
I think I'll vote for that, it's a fantastic game that a lot of people are unaware of.

Haha, one of my good friends actually bought it for me on the DS because he really wanted me to play through it... but I never did ::)
-
Another vote for Startropics here. I bought it, but never got around to playing it.
-
If my in-head math is right, does that put Startropics in the lead so far?
-
Are we already voting?
-
Yep. That way it gives it more time to get feedback in on which game to play.
-
I've never played Startropics. I'd be willing to give it a shot.
-
Did we want to take the top several games to plan a few months out to give people time to ebay games? Also, I tallied the votes. If someone mentioned they would like to play a game or hope one wins, I counted that as a vote.
Wanted to make clear, we are still voting. But I just tallied as of now so people know the standings so far. The tally is in the first post.
-
When is the voting done? I dont have the pyschonauts game but I have Phantasy Star and Startropics so if one of those two wins, Im good to go.

How does Friday at midnight Eastern Standard Time sound? Give people the weekend in case they want to pick it up by the first...
Now, of course, if the game is obtained later on, still participate away. Getting it by the first is by no means a requirement.
-
I'd be game for planning 2 or 3 months in advance. But just announce the games, don't start threads.
Also, I'm pretty sure Metal Gear, Destiny of an Emperor and Bionic Commando all have 2 votes.

So, keep the 2 or 3 months in one thread or just put them in this thread?...
I'll recount. It is very possible I missed them. (EDIT: You are absolutely right. I missed those in Soera's post... adjusting now)
-
no no, I mean when we make the next post, just say what the next 2-3 games are. But don't make threads for them until they are up. Which is what we would have prolly done anyway... I'm tired lol. Been driving all day.

my vote is for pyschonauts

Also, I'm assuming the next 3 games will be the top 3 voted? Makes sense to me.
-
Agreed, we might have a tie for #3. So, we will have to decide whether to do 2 months or 4.
Reminder to everyone: Voting ends tomorrow so we have the weekend. Vote Vote Vote.

Hmm, maybe we should just do 2 months. I think if we do 4 it'd be stretching it.
-
It's Startropics time shorty! Time to stick some bananas in our ears!
Startropics is the second VGConnect game (for July). Psychonauts is the third (set for August).
-
So what are we playing in September? Chrono trigger? Phantasy star?
I'm ready!
-
I do believe it was Phantasy Star. Which is cool, since Soera is trading me a copy of the GBA collection for FFX-2!
-
Ill get that thing in the mail tomorrow btw. :)
And Phantasy star is an awesome title! I may not find any spare time however as Diablo III hits my house tomorrow.
-
Hey guys, thanks for keeping this going! My internet was down for several days, so I didn't get to chime in. But I'm looking forward to Phantasy Star. It's one of my favorite games. Hard as hell if you haven't played it before. It doesn't hold your hand or give you hints on where to go very often.
-
Its an awesome game ... and yea, it sure as hell doesnt hold your hand. Navigating through some of those dungeons without a map is nearly impossible. I love that game.
-
Not sure if I can even make any kind of video for the next game, as both my capture card and keyboard aren't working right. :'( (currently using my fiancé's computer.) But I'll least play the game. I do have it on the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.
-
Oh man, might be time to bust out my GBA version of Phantasy Star, then. We're playing the first one, right? The one where we have to draw our own maps...? :-\
-
As long as it's not the epileptic seizure-inducing sequel...
-
The one where we have to draw our own maps...? :-\
You should be all set, if you've been playing Etrian Odyessy.
-
The one where we have to draw our own maps...? :D :D

Ha, but that map drawin' is in built in to the game!

hah, thanks.
