home from garage sales and I got 2 packages in the mail adding two new consoles to my collection. One of them is one of the top 10 rarest game console now in my collection.
1st the sales and I found something that I never thought I'd see at a garage sale.
PS2 - Harley Davidson: Race to the Rally ($1) - Hot Wheels: Beat That! ($1)
Wii - New Super Mario Bros. Wii ($10)
N64 all 7 games where $10 - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Body Harvest - Star Wars: Episode I Racer - Rampage 2 - Namco Museum 64 - Goldeneye 007 - Pokemon Stadium
Usually I pass on Leap Frog Handhelds but this one caught my eye and it felt more like a game system. Both games play like normal games but have bonus stages where you have to match shapes, spelling words etc. - LeapFrog Didj (Star Wars Clone Wars edition) - Star Wars The Clone Wars - Sonic The Hedgehog (CIB)
A Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Limited Edition Xbox 360 complete in box. Has both MW3 controllers and not for resale MW3 game. For $100 I couldnt pass it up.
2 Nintendo Figures from Japan mint in box. I don't usually hunt for action figures but for $2 each unopened I couldn't pass em up. - Mario - Donkey Kong
and last from the sales an item then when I saw it I knew I had to have. I lifesize Kingdom Hearts Sora Keyblade prop. payed $5 for it. Looks exactly like this one I found online. (http://cloud2.lbox.me/images/384x384/201208/kingdom-hearts-sora-mickey-keyblade-cosplay-weapon_iknpvx1345717587343.jpg)
Now what came in the mail. 1st a Game Console only released in Europe. An Amstrad GX4000 came in box (box in rough shape) and came with one game Wild Streets. (http://www.grospixels.com/site/images/gx4000/gx4000_html_665f7dba.jpg)
And last the game console I've been hunting a long time for but was always outbid way over what I wanted to pay for one. A Sega SG-1000 (model 1) in the box. This was the first Sega system ever made and is really rare to find. (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j123/feyd1130/Sg-1000.jpg)

Picked up these today.
N64 GameShark $4 GBA 3rd party Power Pack unopened $6
And probably the coolest Goodwill find ever. I was looking at the game area and my son was looking at the books. He says daddy here is a book for you. I look at it and there is no cover so as I turn it to look at the spine he said, "It's a Grateful Dead book". It being the day after the late Jerry Garcia birthday I found it pretty neat.
Oh man! I'm so jealous! That's the only Sega system I've never played! I've even played a Pico, but not that. Congrats!
I think the Pico and the Japan Mark III, is the only Sega systems i'm missing now. If your in the northern Illinois Area I'll be happy to let you try it out. ;) I'm so happy the controller works flawless, it's hardwired into the system and from what I hear breaks real easy.
Flea, you rock. I wish I had the luck you do. Ive only had one good garage sale ... everything else has been nothing worth buying.
I'm surprised on what I find myself, with all the resellers in my area and everything.
I walked into my local game store today with that Keyblade over my shoulder and everyone wanted it. lol No one could believe I picked up something like that from a Garage Sale. :)

Truthfully, I wouldn't even bother with the Pico. It doesn't even really count as a real console. It's some crappy edutainment device like the Leapster but much more limited even because it was older.

I agree with you, I never counted the Pico or most any of the Edutainment systems as a part of the complete Game Console list. The Pico is just an interactive book from what I've seen. The only Edutainment systems that I'm on the fence about counting as a Gaming Console are the V-Smiles and the DIDJ, just because they do play games, ya they are all crappy edutainment kid games but they are Video Games non the less.
I've seen many Console Lists that include the Pico, Socrates & V-Smiles. Only reason I ever picked these up was because they where so cheap. I only bought the Socrates because I found one brand new in box for $10. and the V-Smiles where $5 with a bunch of the games. So if i find a Pico for say $10-$20 with several of it's cart/books or it was new in box, ya I would grab it.

I finally found Futurama (XBox) for a good price. It hasn't made it on the racketboy rare/expensive list. But it is a game I suspect will make the list. It seems to go for a decent amount and always has a lot of bidders.
I may go on a decent shopping spree though since I worked a hell of a lot of overtime today. I didn't really want to work overtime. But there was a project that needed to be done, so they were recruiting from several departments for any help. So, I plan to count my overtime money as gift to myself money. I should be responsible and save it... but...

Struck out at garage sales yesterday. The only games I found were some common PS2 sports/racing games. All I bought was Iron Man 3 theatrical promo cups (I've been collecting these for every big superhero movie I go to).
But I did grab some stuff from Craigslist. A lot of 10 Sega CD games, which practically doubles my Sega CD collection :D
Disc only - Cliffhanger - Sol-Feace - Sewer Shark - The Animals - Revenge of the Ninja

Snagged a killer deal on Green Man Gaming the other day for the entire Max Payne series and Darksiders II, plus all DLC, for a grand total of about 31 bucks after using the 20% off voucher.
Just waiting for Dragon's Crown and Tales of Xillia to arrive now! :)

Saw a Craiglist add for classic video games and gave the guy a call, it turned out to a reseller I bought games from before in the past. I ended up dropping $400, he had a lot of games new in boxes. He even had a copy of Flintstones 2 on NES IN THE BOX!!! But he wanted close to $2000 for it. :o I had to pass on that, but did get some really great stuff. Found my charger for my Digital camera so now i can add pictures of my finds. yay. Also stopped at Gamestop and picked up a couple games.
Xbox 360 - Dragon Dogma "Been meaning to pick this game up, when I saw they had a new copy for $25 I finally bought it.
PS3 - Dragon's Crown
Now from Craigslist.
SNES - Robocop vs. Terminator (CIB in plastic shell box)
NES - Bubble Bobble 2 - Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers 2 Down to only 10 games missing in my NES collection (not counting holy grail games)
and last a lot of Bally Astrocade. This came with system, 6 controllers (yes 6 of them) Basic programming carts, hook ups, Basic book and 23 games. - Galactic Invasion (with Manual) - Biorhythm - Sneaky Snake - Elementary Math & Bingo Math - Star Battle - Panzer Attack & Red Baron - Cosmic Raiders - Blackjack, Poker & Acey-Ducey - Dog Patch - ZZZap & Dodgem - Grand Prix (with Manual) - Pirates Chase (with Manual) - Letter Match, Spell N Score, Crosswords - Amazing Maze & Tic-Tac-Toe - Clowns Brickyard - Space Fortress - Space Invaders - Football - Artillery Duel (with Manual) - Solar Conqueror (with Manual) - SeaWolf and Missile - Bally Pin - The Incredible Wizard (with Manual)
Starting the count down to my 200th Gaming Console/handheld. (including all variations but not duplicates) 184 - The Bally Astrocade (Arcade version)
UPDATE: Just looked up games for the Astrocade and found out that four of the games in this lot are in the top 10 rarest games for this system and one is worth close to $200 loose. :o After this pickup I'm only missing 6 Games to complete the Bally Astrocade Collection. 8)

I already owned all of these games, but the first 3 games were Greatest Hits, WWF didn't have a manual, and Virtua Cop was the 3 pack version.

Friend of mine gave me his Saturn. I say I'm just storing it for him but he insists I keep it. Also gave me a Street Fighter game in great condition. First time ever playing with a Saturn and probably first time really playing a street fighter game as I'm not big into fighting games. But it's all pretty neat.
Now I just want to get a couple more games so I have some stuff for it. Added some stuff to my wishlist if anyone has like 50 duplicates and wants to get rid of something (like Daytona lol). Maybe taking a trip too a legit game shop about an hour away to see what they have for cheap, never been there (or any place like it) before.
Next up is a model 2 Genesis I guess. Never owned one of those as a kid either.

Wasn't planning on getting Dream Team for a while so that's nice... and I got rid of a bad game in the whole process so I'm not unhappy with that.

Picked up
Tiger Heli - NES Hoops - NES Tetris 2 - SNES
All for a buck each.
I also grabbed a Wii from Goodwill for $20 untested. It has the component cable so it was marked untested. I get it home and it suffers from laser death. It works just doesn't play games. I took it apart and cleaned it all up but still get the Eject game and turn off screen. Oh well now I need to figure if I want to replace the laser or "hack and mod" it.

Dreamcast actually is one of the few systems that will play burned games. My guess is you can download some roms and put them on a disk and play away!

I've never had a Dreamcast before, and I have no games for it yet... but I'll pick up one soon and make sure the console survived the trip through the mail lol

In my experience, you at least had to have a boot-disc to swap-out. It doesn't play burned discs on their own, like a Sega CD.
However I've also heard that using boot disc swap kills the laser on your Dreamcast a lot faster. Dreamcast games are cheap and easy enough to find that I'd rather keep my DC working for a long while.

Depend on some releases, you do not necesserelly need a boot disk to play some burnt iso games. However i tend to agree that in risks to kill you laser.
Dreamcast is a very nice system to collect games.... and the best 128 bits console ever 8)

I visited 3 local stores today to check out Dreamcast games but out of those stores there was exactly ONE Dreamcast game: Elemental Gimmick Gear and it was $50, so I didn't get it although it is one I'm interested in picking up at some point. Really weird that between 3 stores there was only 1 game though.

Had a pretty good weekend, I visited 3 swap meets. I picked up a stack of PS2 games and Lost Kingdoms for Gamecube. Tales of Xillia CE for PS3, a new copy of Dragon Quest IX. I've already completed the game but I'm going to play through on multiplayer now with a friend. I snagged 3 MM3 mod chips for the PS1, A complete copy of Samurai Shodown for Neo Geo Pocket Color, Shadow of the Beast II for Genesis and 2 Game Gear games. My favorite pickup was Final Fantasy III for $50, it's only missing the map and in pretty decent condition.

Wow, that's overpriced. I got my copy for $10. I know Dreamcast is harder to come by in some regions. Where are you, by chance?
I'm in Northern California, and Dreamcast stuff is plentiful and cheap around here (barring the rare stuff).

Southern Indiana/Western Kentucky (Louisville metro area). It's been surprisingly difficult to find anything older than PS2 games in local stores (other than sports games), except for one store I've been to that I don't remember the name of right now which has a decent selection and usually fair prices. I didn't check that store for DC games yet. I'll look later this week, they probably have some.

Found a Craigslist ad for a Super Nintendo and 8 games for $30. Found out it was in a small town 30 miles away. So I traveled out there and picked it up.
Picked up the SNES with 2 controllers and all the hook ups with these games. - Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past - Mega Man X - Tetris Attack - Jurassic Park - Arkanoid - Frogger - Lion King - Super Bases Loaded
Then a stopped at a local Gamestop and found a couple things. PSP - Hammerin' Hero (brand new sealed) and the best find... Wii - Xenoblade Chronicles (Complete and in perfect condition) was $80 but considering this game has been selling for over $100 lately I had to grab it.
Then I get home and find out then Gamestop is getting in new copies and opening them and selling them as used games to get $80+ for them instead of $40-50. god damn you Gamestop. >:( Oh well, least I got a new copy. Even thou Gamestop is scamming us to get an extra $30.

First week of August my friend and I head out to a flea market and the very first vendor has a Rule of Rose sitting on top of his other games. I had heard of the game and thought it was worth about $20. He's selling ti for $15. I ask if he'll go down to $10 because he wrote on the case and it had no booklet. He wasn't willing to budge so I passed....While walking away I checked the vgpc price and was happy to buy it at that price.
Next week we pass by a Gun & Pawn shop that we've never seen open since we're only in that direction late or on a Sunday, both of which they're closed on. We walk in and it's nothing but guns and knives. We ask if they have any video games and the guys tells us no. We thank him and have our hand on the door when a kid who had been sweeping says they have some old stuff in a display case that is literally facing the corner. (It was in a very awkward position to see) We check it out, it's mainly a bunch of Sega CD games and NES super common titles. There was some sort of contraption sitting on top of the Genesis games with the only visible item being a Joe Montana Football. I ask him to move the thing so we can see the games. My friend has lost interest because the games were looking pretty bleak. Underneath was 3 more sports games and an Action 52. I ended up getting it for $8. (The contraption he moved was a Sega Power Base Converter, we had an idea of what it did but not how much it cost).
TLDR: Rule of Rose $15 - No manual, Slight case damage Action 52 (Genesis) $8 - The sticker is just starting to peel in the upper right hand corner.

Due to the fact I can't find my PSP3000 anywheres for the the past month I picked up a PSP2001 for $20 when I tried it at the place it worked when I got home and tried to play a game I realized the thumbstick wasn't working the characters would just move foward/up no matter what I tried didn't have any problem though with the main menu
other than that for $2 each N64-Hexen N64-gameshark PSP-Daxter and a Sonic Spinball case/manual
I was also going to also grab Diddy Kong Racing since the guy said all the games were $2 he looks through the stack takes that one out and then says it's $20,he said his resale buddies will pay $15 because it's "Donkey Kong"
Fucking resellers

I'd like to live in the Bay Area. It's a video game and metal music haven. But the wife wants to stay near family. I'm in Redding. I go down for concerts and random stuff here and there, though.
Just a couple months ago I went down to Monterey Bay, and stopped in Mountain View on the way to check out the Computer History Museum. VERY cool place to visit, if you haven't yet. They have a video game section, and they have Space War (the first video game) and Pong set up to play. And of course the computer stuff is very thorough. They even have a PDP-1 on display (the computer that ran Space War, the first video game), that I'm told they get up and running every Sunday (it wasn't Sunday when I went, unfortunately).

Ah yeah, Redding's a bit of a ways away. Haven't been to that museum, but I did go by the Tech Museum a few years back in San Jose when they had a huge videogame exhibit. Was definitely worth the trip. I'll have to hit up the CHM next time I head down to Monterey (I go every few months for the aquarium).
For the next time you come by the bay: I just ran across this spot last night (but didn't get a chance to go inside): http://www.yelp.com/biz/high-scores-arcade-alameda That, plus the Pacific Pinball Museum (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pacific-pinball-museum-alameda)... well, it makes Alameda look like less of a rockabilly island and more like a neat nerd hangout.

Great finds! I managed to get a Action 52 off Craigslist a few months ago. But I'm super jealous of your Rule of Rose find! It's one of the PS2 games I'm hoping to find out in the wild someday, 'cause I'm not spending the cash it's demanding today.

Great deal! GI Joe and Ren & Stimpy are definitely harder to come by, and there's lots of good common titles like SMB3, Punch Out and Metroid. Congrats!
I have yet to get a deal on NES games through CL. Nobody EVER lists them around here, unless they're bundled with a console and even then they're always just commons I see all the time.

Some dude was needing a little cash, I guess. He had an Xbox 360 with games, Mario Kart for SNES, and these for $200. I offered $30 for just the NES games and he bit. I had to drive nearly an hour, but I picked them up. I have most of them, but Qix has been hard for me to come by. So, I grabbed the lot with the hopes of making some trades.

Oh, I also got one of these, which are excellent for storing your game library because the shelves are easily adjustable to fit NES/CD height and/or DVD-height games. I've been scouring CL for months looking for one. I'm too cheap to spend $35-$40 to get a new one. Paid $8 for the one I found: (http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/c/0/0/8a/a/AAAADI_na7MAAAAAAIqmKQ.jpg?v=1259013125000)

Oh, I also got one of these, which are excellent for storing your game library because the shelves are easily adjustable to fit NES/CD height and/or DVD-height games. I've been scouring CL for months looking for one. I'm too cheap to spend $35-$40 to get a new one. Paid $8 for the one I found:
nice! where would i go if i wanted a new one? $35 isn't terrible considering how expensive shelving can be
i just built my own shelves. it was really easy

OMG I FOUND A GAME
Reservoir Dogs for Xbox - $2.
I already own it on PC but it looks pretty bad even on my machine. I figured it just didn't convert well from TV to PC.

I picked up one of these for $3.50 at a Goodwill. No box just the bag.
Mine the logo in the bottom right corner is around on the right side in the lower left corner. Also from what I have seen most have red insides where mine has black. It is also rip free and pretty clean. I would have taken a pic but the wife has the camera and she is in India at the moment.

I have an unhealthy love for the ZBag. I had one when I was a kid, but it disappeared. Now, I have 3. I found 1 at a Game Xchange for $3.50, 1 is a mystery (I have no idea where I got it), and 1 my wife bought at Goodwill. The 1 from Goodwill looks brand new.
I really need to quit buying these things.

It is going to get loaded with a spare system and a few of my spare favourite games and going on a shelf. Kind of like a bug out bag.

I've found them in various places. Once at ShopKo (regional big box store), once at Big Lots. The last one I bought was from Wal-Mart because I just couldn't find them anywhere else (I do not like Walmart, so that was hard for me :) ) They still carry this one for $35 and you can ship it to the store to avoid shipping costs -- http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sauder-O-Sullivan-Multimedia-Storage-Tower-Cinnamon-Cherry/13044874 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sauder-O-Sullivan-Multimedia-Storage-Tower-Cinnamon-Cherry/13044874)

I own four of those exact shelving units and use them for NES and Xbox360.
They're great because they're so versatile. They accommodate nearly any kind of game nicely (loose NES games, CIB NES, PS, DC, games in DVD cases, etc.)
I have five of them now, one for games that I just picked up and four for DVDs/blu-rays. I love these shelves!
Here's a pic of my 3 DVD shelves. I also have one for blu-rays. (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j299/Vejadu/Home%20Theater/dvds.jpg) (http://s83.photobucket.com/user/Vejadu/media/Home%20Theater/dvds.jpg.html)

Luckily, my wife was out with her mom and found Castlequest (NES) and Gradius III (SNES) for me.

I've been lazy about posting lately, buuuut my copy of Ketsui: Kizuna Jigokutachi EXTRA - Limited Edition arrived from Japan recently. Absolutely STUFFED full of awesome, including a Super Play Blu-ray, 2-disc soundtrack, all wrapped up in a slipcover, and AmiAmi threw in the DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu soundtrack as a pre-order bonus. Expensive, but money well spent!
Hit-up a garage sale today & they had a sealed & boxed copy for sale marked @ $20 :o
I was talking to the guy about it -and- w/o even asking, he said just give him $15 for it ::)
I was quick in reaching for my $ ;D
I don't "get" it though...maybe a gift to someone desperate for (drug) money looking to convert it to quick cash?
Anyone else ever see this or have any other theories and/or explanations for it?
Lucky! I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a quick way to get cash for drugs.

I saw an ad on craigslist for a Game Vendor expo in a town 100 miles away. So after getting down there to the it turned out to be a hoax. (god I'm sick of this crap.) >:( I met up with about a dozen other gamers who got also came out and where pissed. After talking to everyone I found out there was a Flea Market close by, so I went there and picked up a bunch of games. for about $2 each.
PS2 - Digimon World 4 - TMNT - Inuyasha: Feudal Combat - Jaws Unleashed - Shamu's Deep Sea Adventures - Adventures of Darwin - Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb - Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
Wii - Flingsmash (sealed)
SMS - Reggie Jackson Baseball
GBA - Egg Mania - Digimon Racing - Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters
NDS - Animal Crossing: Wild World
GG - Talespin - Desert Speedtrap
GBC - Jim Henson's Muppets - Ms. Pac-Man (color edition) - Tazmanian Devil: Munching Madness - Grand Theft Auto - Gex: Enter the Gecko - Godzilla the Series - Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories - Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers
GB - Star Trek: The Next Generation - Mickey's Dangerous Chase - Arcade Classic 4: Defender & Joust - Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends - Alien 3 - Talespin - 4-in-1 Funpack Volume II - Caesars Palace - Wave Race
While these finds where decent, I was still mad about the long trip for nothing. But after talking to a few people I was told about a comic book store that also sold video games. And when I stopped in, I saw something that I never ever expected to find in the wild, I had to buy it and this made the long trip worth it and I was happy.
A Panasonic Q Console #188
Its a rare Gamecube only made in Japan, and it's in perfect condition and even the disc tray works with no issues. Even had it's original controller and remote. all for $250. ;D

I found an indigo gamecube with 2 controllers in great shape at a thrift store for $8.00. When I got home, I found a power cord and tried it out, but it's dead. I also realized that there was a game in it too, some Lord of the Rings game. At least I got some good controllers... I also got my retail copy of New Super Luigi U yesterday.

Y-e-a-h...
The only other scenario that I can think of (in which that whole deal makes sense) is if somebody stole it (paying nothing for it) -and- just made 15X their investment in selling it to me for $15.00
Still pretty, damned stupid, though...as he could have ripped off the plastic wrap, took it to GS to sell it to them "used" for, probably...what...at least double what he sold it to me for?

My PS3 FF14 CE arrived today. Pretty nice piece. Just a shame that the soundtrack is only five select songs and not the full thing as the music in the game is fantastic. Not sure if there is a physical full soundtrack out yet. But I already got the PC CE when the old junk version released so I still got the new version for free. Bought the PS3 CE so I would have that version as well. Been playing since Saturday. Game is having the usual MMO launch issues. Tons of people trying to play it and the servers can't handle them. Regardless of all that, I am having a ton of fun in the game. Its not some ground breaking new MMO design. Its just a really polished Final Fantasy MMO.
I've seen a few people on the internet who have completed the main storyline and say its amazing. Comparable to a single player FF story and an excellent throwback to the older FF games. Saying its well worth the $30-40 purchase just to play through the main story.
Hope to see some people in-game! (Once they allow more people in :P) Also added all [NA] versions of the game I am aware of to the database. Need scans for the PC and PS3 standard versions and the PC Collector's Edition.
Got TimeSplitters 2 (XBox). Been looking for this game forever, I'm glad that I found it. I have to clean the fingerprints off of it though. I got it in Kissimmee, Florida (I live in London, Ontario).

Found a pretty good priced lot of SNES games today at $2 each and 2 Intellivision games at $0.77. Total after tax $19.85. I was surprised to find these at this Goodwill cause I know the area I was at is full of resellers and a used game store. SNES Championship Pool, John Madden Football '93, NFL Football, Paperboy 2, PGA Tour Golf, Street Fighter II, Super Mario Kart, Super Return Of The Jedi, Tecmo Super NBA Basketball. (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c201/rabbidvwrabbit/SSPX0375_zps9d8b4383.jpg) (http://s28.photobucket.com/user/rabbidvwrabbit/media/SSPX0375_zps9d8b4383.jpg.html)
Intellivision(not sure why since I don't have the system) Venture, NFL Football (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c201/rabbidvwrabbit/SSPX0374_zps61c8c657.jpg) (http://s28.photobucket.com/user/rabbidvwrabbit/media/SSPX0374_zps61c8c657.jpg.html)
At my close by Goodwill I found TailSpin and Blaster Master for $5.05 each. It's neat how one Goodwill prices cart games at $1.91 and other Goodwills price them at $5.05. I passed on Infiltrator due to the $5.05 price. I already have it. I also passed on a bag of cords with a NES Advantage in it. It had a SNES power pack and a couple Sega 3 button controllers for $20.

Picked up my 4th Sega GameGear with Super Columns for $8. It like my others has bad caps. I guess now would be a good time to order a few cap kits.

Once again, I arrived at a sale too late to get what I headed there for. Missed out on a great SNES with box and some sealed GBA games for dirt cheap :(

Added a lot of SMS games to my collection. Basically found a few cheap lots in random places (one of them being on the forums here). They all arrived yesterday so I added like 20 games to my growing total bringing me up to 70 games in all. :)
