NES game collectors wake up today to find their 'full' collection suddenly incomplete as Capcom releases limited edition golden DuckTales cartridge to advertise for the HD remake.

This is awesome, but the low edition number kinda pisses me off. Good luck hunting that down.

pfft... variant.

But seriously, that is pretty cool. You don't see new variants appear often. I wonder how these were produced. It kind of straddles the line between variant and reproduction. Interesting. Thanks for sharing this!

now why cant something like that be released with a collector's edition of the game. I wouldn't care if it was $100 I'd pre-order and buy that CE in a heartbeat.

I agree, one of my favorite NES games.

There is a place called Iam8bit and apparently they were contracted out by Capcom to make these. The absolute total is 150 between all the regions. There were none left over for sale for personal purchases. Good luck on acquiring one if you are going to be trying to do so. As far as I know, all it is is a gold cartridge with a new label and the original Duck tales game on it.
