Just completed the initial mode on hard difficulty. I really enjoyed the entire playthrough. Im looking forward to going through the other 3 playthrough modes and I went ahead and jacked up my difficulty all the way to Master level V. Hoping it makes the fights tougher! :P
The monk is a fantastic character. Super fast attacks and with the ability to occasionally heal, its a good option. Also I used the templar follower the whole time for his healing assistance. I wasnt too interested in the other two followers (enchanter and thief).
All in all, Im not regretting my purchase at all!
-
I got mine yesterday but the fiancee and I have been too sick to be able to sit down and play it yet :'(
-
I really enjoy Monk as well, mine is paragon 50 something. I'm holding out on playing for the item patch, which sounds like it got rolled into the xpac :(
-
Played for probably about an hour today. I'm level 4 or maybe 5 and playing as a Demon Hunter, though if I had known he (seemingly) can only use bows, I think I would have gone with the Monk. I also accidentally chose the Easy difficulty instead of Medium, so it's been an absolute breeze so far, but oh well. I don't like that you're just given skills when you level up and preferred being able to choose them like in previous games. Other than those minor complaints (only one I can actually blame on the game lol) I'm enjoying it thoroughly.
-
You can adjust your difficulty setting at the start of the game. Also if you go into the options, there is one that allows you to pick and choose which attacks you want to use and on what button you want to use them on. I couldnt care less for mantras or whatever so I dont use those at all. Dont remember the name of the option it is but for me, its the first box you can click on and off and I think it begins with E. Word could be Enable.
-
I meant having a skill tree that upon leveling up you can choose which skills you want to acquire. But I was unaware of that other feature. Cool!
-
I picked up for the PS3 @ launch, but I haven't had enough time to play it as I would like. I only have a couple of hours in so far, think I am Lv 8. I am digging the Monk though, good attacks and skills so far with the ability to heal oneself.
-
Any of you play around with the couch co-op at all yet?
-
I really really want to. My buddy likes hack and slash dungeon crawlers so I want to try it with him.

Let me know what you think of it, if/when you guys give it a try...a friend of mine was telling me that the co-op was *Really* fun ;D
-
I got Diablo III on PC on release day and played it for maybe 3 months. It just didn't have that same feel as Diablo II for me. I'm that guy that played Diablo II for 9 years. I had the same feeling on SC2, it just wasn't the same and besides the story, didn't feel like a true sequel. So much changed, entire classes removed, etc and it wasn't fun anymore. But I know a whole new class of players find it great and that's cool. Hope you have fun with it!
-
I think I still prefer Diablo II overall, but there are some aspects of Diablo III that I do like better. They did a lot to streamline things, which is good. Anyway, I just made it to Act II and have played a little bit in it.
-
I bought Diablo III (PS3) totally on a whim. I wasn't really interested in it honestly. I saw screenshots and immediately wrote it off because it wasn't a JRPG. But then I thought, "why not try something new?". So glad I wised up and bought this game! I've been playing co-op with my 5 year old son (both as wizards). So much fun!!!! I plan to play solo on a harder mode as well; looking forward to that.
-
Just beat Nightmare mode last night and on Hell mode now. Points to mention - Master level V is BS. Its more like impossible mode. You take 3-4 hits and you are dead. Period. Treasure goblins are a pain in the ass to kill after normal mode. Im still enjoying the game even though Im in my 3rd straight consecutive back to back to back playthrough.
Also have tried the same screen co-op. Its pretty cool. And since it allows up to 4 on the same screen, I cant wait til a few of my friends can come by and we make a run through.

Makes you wonder how the ESRB stays in business.

I don't know why Diablo III is rated M. I personally don't feel killing monsters is especially "Mature" content.
-

It's because most retailers won't sell games that aren't rated by the ESRB, so no dev releasing physical games wants see their games unable to go on store shelves.

I find myself "not knowing" this exact, same thing with (what I think) are many mis-matched games and their ratings...

Heh another update. I beat Hell mode and Im in act I of Inferno mode. Im level 60 and I have 1.6 paragon levels. Got a matched set of Shenlog fists for weapons and just kicking some ass everywhere. I really enjoy this game and I look forward to getting to log onto it every day. If you enjoy any sort of dungeon crawling hack and slash, this is simply the best game out there period. Eventually Im going to start looking for people online to play with. I wonder if people on the PS3 can link up with players on the other consoles (360 or PC). I think I heard you can but havent really tried yet.

A Blue says no.

From what I understand, the games are actually different between all the different versions.

Gah, I wish I was even done with normal.... I can't get my lazy friend online to play with me most of the time....
-
I play by myself. I dont really have any friends that would be able to hang out and play with me at my weird times either. Im still playing daily however so if you do find you have some specific times you are able to log on and play, let me know. I could run with ya. Im mostly legendary/set gear farming lately. About to hit level 20 paragon.

I might take you up on that.... I play on PSN as TeckNikael or Teck_Nikael, though I don't recall which right now....

Diablo III patch 2.0.1 is live. It sounds pretty impressive, I can't wait to get in game tonight to check it out.

I'm downloading the patch now - cannot wait to see it first hand. Watching a friend play it on Twitch right now, and it looks great so far. Really looking forward to playing as a crusader clan with friends in March.

Haha, thanks for the welcome back. I've been taking a Maya animation class and have been busy with new and old friends on Twitch.tv. Still haven't been playing much (but still collecting, of course!), but I did jump back into D3 because of the Twitch friends.
-
She doesn't love us anymore! :'(
-
Aw hahah that's not true! I still check in every day!
-
Played for maybe 3 hours last night on my level 29 Wizard. Ended up scoring 2 Legendaries and a bunch of total upgrades. I'm not sure if it's cause I haven't played it in months, but the overall game feels much better.
I especially like the changes they made to crafting.
-
This update is PC only Im guessing? A lot of the stuff listed looks like the stuff thats already on the PS3 version.
-
I havent played in months; if i wanted to start playing again, do think it would be better to start a new character or jump back on one of my max level characters?
-

Ya PC only pre expansion patch. Lol, I didn't realize you started it, talking about the PS3 version.

I picked it up with my level 29 Wizard after months of not playing and it seemed fine. Of course, I was debating on starting at level 1 again to see everything from scratch too. But I'm not sure.
-
I guess I'll just play around with it and see what works for me!
-
I was playing at least once a week for a few hours at a time in the weeks leading up to the patch, so it's nice to see how much the patch affects the game now. A lot of friends had to reevaluate what kind of character they had been playing since a lot of the skills were changed.
The Loot 2.0 system is pretty good, though it sucks that trading is much more restricted now.
But I really like the addition of the paragon point system and the new affixes to the monsters and elite packs really help to make the game feel fresh again.
-
The only problem I've noticed so far with my Wizard, is that crafting loot for my Templar buddy rolls stats geared for my toon rather than him. They should have the option to select if its for you or a follower.

oh, that's weird. I haven't tried crafting yet, but I'm *really* happy that they upped the number of mats you can can stack. You could always have your templar stop following you temporarily while you craft, but that's kinda lame that that's the case. Are they items built for the new crusader class or just for the actual templar?
-
The actual Templar. I don't have anyone else playing the game to coop with at the moment. So I need a follower to help out.
-
I disliked the followers. I used the templar through the game the very first play through but after that, I started rolling solo. The great thing about the PS3 is you can actually play up to 4 characters on screen at once so I built me up a demon hunter, a wizard, and a barbarian to run with the monk. I would just set the controllers on a little table next to my recliner and pick em up one at a time if I needed something. I mostly controlled the demon hunter with the turrets and long range shooting and would use the monk for heals, the barb for his weird AE fire looking thing and the wizard to drop big bombs if needed.

i just order it from amazon.

oh there is a free trial to lvl 13
-
Nice. I'll prolly be online Friday. I won't have much gaming time until then.
-
Scott, a friend told me that there should be an area where you can select whether you're making something for your char or your follower. I don't craft much myself, so I haven't seen that option yet.
The current XP boost is up until the launch of Reaper of Souls... Can't wait! Less than 2 weeks away at this point...
-
I'll have to look. But so far all I've seen is "All, Highest Equippable and Have Materials" or something.
-
disc finally showed up
-
nice!

Reaper of Souls hype! Just 7.5 more hours...
My friends and I are going to be doing a 24-hour dual Twitch.tv stream starting at 11:30p EDT. Come by to see me fall asleep at my desk!

Im really looking forward (if it actually does get released) for Reaper on PS3. I have a level 60 of all the others and think a crusader would be cool.
-
I'm waiting for my CE to show up in the mail. I work today though so I won't be playing til tonight. Gonna do some unboxing pictures of it while the game is installing.
-
I started my crusader last night and got to level 10. I really like the play style and cant wait to get to the new content.
-
I played my Wiz last night while I was hoping for FedEx to arrive, ended up snagging a couple more Paragon levels. My cousin got his copy and got his Crusader up passed level 25 or something.
-
I haven't played in too freaking long :( Y'all make me want to steal my boyfriend's laptop and play (I'm on linux on my own computer, and Blizzard's new launcher thing crashes PlayOnLinux. The game would work fine on its own, it's really the launcher that is really stupid).
-
Hit 70 with my wizard and unlocked the new mode. The new chapter isn't super long, but it did take me 2 sessions to finish. It would have taken longer if I hand hit every nook and cranny in the areas, they're absolutely huge! Near the middle of it I was just going from story point to story point and didn't do my normal "explore everything" routine. Some of the side dungeons are massive as well and Westmarch is very impressive.
Adventure mode is fun too, and I did a Nephalem Rift last night. Found some upgrades, upgraded my artisans a few times and played with the transmog feature.
I really want to start up my Crusader next, but damn if I can't pull myself away from the Wizard long enough to do so.
-
Played through 24 hours or so of the crusader on launch night/day and have played another 8 hours or so after that to finish off Malthael. Spent about 30 minutes in adventure mode and am definitely interested in what it has to hold. Not quite at 70 with the crusader, but very close!
The expansion and changes were great, and the last act is so vast that, like Scott, I found myself not exploring every nook and cranny like I'd usually do. There's so much to explore!
Definitely looking forward to playing more and to seeing the spells that the other classes get after level 60.
-
I got a Black Hole spell that sucks everything within 15 yards into it. I combo it with Blizzard and completely wreck groups of mobs. My build doesn't have a signature spell in it either, because I have it set up to regen pretty quick.

Once I move the crusader up to 70, I definitely want to bump my wizard up next. The crusader is a great class, though - all 4 of us were really, really digging it, and I find myself having a hard time going back to my original paragon character (the demon hunter).
-
I can't play the Demon Hunter any more. I'm 5 levels from 60 on him and it just feels like a drag to play, which is a shame because I really was into that class.
The Wizard is my main for sure now though. I feel like a beast playing that class. The Demon Hunter I feel like I'm just shooting and shooting and getting overwhelmed.
-
I didn't like Diablo III on the PC, but I loved it on the PS3. Waiting for the PS4 version though.

Same here.... Never even beat the game on PC.... I was shocked at how much better I liked the console version....

What did you guys like better about the console version?
I haven't played any Diablo games on any systems...
-
I'm interested to hear this as well. I could never play a Diablo game on a console, something about it just doesn't seem right if you're not poking mobs to death w/ a mouse pointer. Plus with my gaming mouse I can knock spells out super fast, since I have all my actions mapped to it. Usually the only key I press on my KB is Shift.
-
I really enjoy playing Diablo with a PS3 controller. It has that Baldur's gate hack and slash feel. Plus you get a roll option with the second thumbstick.

Speaking of controllers, Soera - have you tried playing any of your PS3 games with the PS4's DS2 yet?
-
The controllers are not compatible I dont think.

*Derp*
I (obviously) meant DS4 -not DS2 :o
And, yeah - I'm not sure what games and/or how many games are -but- I've definitely seen/read that *some* PS3 games can be played w/ the PS4's controller ;D
-
The DS4 does work with some games, but it has to be plugged into the PS3. I have played a few games with it. I couldn't get it to work with the MGS HD collection though.

How did it feel, Dennie?
Did you like it better than using the DS3 -and- what games has it worked with?

I tried it and the sticks do feel slightly nicer, but I think the over all design isn't quite on par with the Dualshock 3.... I believe I was playing Hotline Miami when I tried it.... I returned to the DS3 after a short while....
