One review described it as a "love child having Disgaea as the father and Izuna/Shiren the Wanderer as the mother"; I already like it, but I will definitely post impressions once I finish up w/ D2 & start playing it.

I decided to drive around town Sunday and do a little game shopping. Stopped into Half price books and wandered around. I made my way to their high priced magazine area. Ive seen NP #1 there before but it was always like $50-100. Sure enough there was yet another copy but it was marked "AS IS - $15". I picked it up and it looked decent but I wondered what the as is part was for. I had the guy open it and I found it. One of the previous owners drew marker mustaches on a lot of the faces in the back of the book. The worker saw what it was and said he would let me take it for a $10 bill out the door. At that time, NP stood for no problem and I left with my book! The poster is still attached and looks good. Ive wanted another copy of NP #1 since my mom tossed my subscription copy years ago. Its now nice and safe in a bag with #285.

Folklore does have a pretty good soundtrack, yeah. I haven't played the game yet (it's on my wishlist still) but I have heard the music.

2 of my favorite OST's (NieR and Folklore), are both from games that I *Really* would like to play -BUT- alas; (from everything that I've read, heard, and/or seen of the 2 games)...they both look to be too Action-y to be playable one-handed :'(

Future Shop/Best Buy had a deal on today in Canada, trade in ANY PS3, 360, WiiU, PSVita or 3DS game and get a copy of Battlefield 4, COD Ghosts or Assassin's Creed 4 for the PS3 or 360 for FREE! Limit was one copy per person per store. It took about 9 hours but I was able to get copies of each game for the 360 and PS3 plus a couple for gifts. My wife and son were with me so we got 3 at each and I had reserved 2 at 3 stores to make sure that we got what I wanted and would be giving for gifts. The longest wait we had was over 3 hours and by the time we hit the last store they only had reservations left so we were done in about 5 minutes.
Have such a long day I hope to God this sale never happens again!
I think the best part of the day was trading games with other people waiting in line. I traded Fight Night Round 3 for Injustice! Also one of them had a bunch of clearance games for .25 a piece.

With the re-acquisition of this game (I traded it away, before), I am now official only 1 game away from my complete U.S. Neo Geo Pocket Color collection (my want list, not going for a complete set). The U.S. library really isn't all that large, so it's not a hard feat to accomplish.
Here's what I have now:
1. Bust-A-Move Pocket 2. Dark Arms: Beast Buster 3. Fatal Fury: First Contact 4. King of Fighters: R-2 5. Metal Slug: 1st Mission 6. Metal Slug: 2nd Mission 7. Pac-Man 8. Samurai Shodown II: Pocket Fighting Series 9. SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium 10. Sonic Pocket Adventure
So now, all I need that I still want is Shanghai Mini (which is basically just mahjong, so no rush when it normally goes for $20 at the cheapest. I can wait for a cheaper copy to come along).
I really wish the NGPC had a larger library since it's likely the only Neo Geo system I'll ever own (the others are too pricey to collect for), and it really is a solid little handheld.

No on the Card-Fighters Game. Not into card games.
And I would like to have Last Blade, but not for the $40+ it's going for. Same goes for King of Fighters R-1, Mega Man, and Cool Boarders Pocket. Those are just too expensive to be practical additions to my collection, but if I ever came across them cheap I'd take them.

Had a cool item come in the mail today.
A Custom NES Cart called 8-Bit Xmas 2013. It is released by RetroZone only in November and December then discontinued. They make a new game every year and the cart lights up with Christmas lights. They even come with a Christmas Card with a sexy girl on it. ;) I found out about these carts a couple years ago so I have 2011, 2012 and now 2013. (see pic) They made a 2008, 2009 and 2010 but these go for well over $100 if you can find them today. Better grab them when they are released if you into NES, They sell for $43 and if you want to spend and extra $8 you can have a personal message programed at the title screen.
Last two years they also had SNES Xmas carts (2011 & 2012) This year they didn't release one for SNES. :-[

Yes, every year the game is different.
2011 - Plays like Warlords on Atari. But Christmas themed.
2012 - Plays like Loopy on Colecovision, You play a plane grabbing up presents.
2013 - It plays like Galaga, you play as Santa shooting enemies above you that dance around to Christmas Music.

Yeah it is. Right now, we have 1 PS3, 5 Xbox 360s, 4 Wiis, a Wii U and now a PS4. I plan to try to be the game coordinator for the entire series of them (I think they have like 8-9 different locations near me). I already am going to be buying all the game stuff for the newest one to open next month so Ill be picking up another PS4 around the beginning of 2014.

Picked up my PS4 earlier, and it's my 200th game console. 8) Also picked up Kill Zone Shadow Fall for it. It's a lot smaller then I pictured it to be. I love the new controller, big improvement over the dual shock.

Picked up a PS4, Killzone, Ghosts, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. After the initial server errors passed - everything updated and has been going smoothly. Resogun is by far the best game on the console :)

Agreed. I am super pleased with the DS4, it has a nice weight to it and doesn't feel like it's built cheap (Like the DS3 does).. Feels really nice to have it feel like it's not going to shatter if I grip too tight. Plus the curves of it make it fit more comfortably in my hands.

(Despite having read some low reviews/ratings); I just picked-up Knack for the PS4, because:
A. *I* still thought that it looked pretty fun, cool, and interesting -and-
B. It made me "feel" better about dropping ~$300 on a system -but- not having anything to play on it...should I get the urge to hook it up & try it before some RPG's are released for it :o
Then again, truth be told - I can't remember having *EVER* bought/not bought a game that I was interested in, based on its reviews 8)

The Mailman brought me a boxed copy of Wizardry The Return of Werdna for the Apple II today! The hardest game in the entire Wizardry series, and probably the hardest RPG ever designed.

I gave it a go. It's feels good. I think it was built to have kids drop it. It feels sturdy and well made. I'm used to a XL so the screen size is tiny. It doesn't look cheap in person. Like I said before, if Nintendo had come out with this as their next console; no one would complain.

I'd love to buy the Neo Geo AES Homebrews, but damn it's over $600.00 to buy. (449.00 euro) I own over 60 AES carts and the most I ever paid for one was $300. I agree it looks awesome, But I just can't spend $600 on it. :-\

Well I really debated hard with Last Hope and Gunlord and Im actually really glad I bought the dreamcast versions because I don't care much for them as games. As much as Im a collector, I want to enjoy the game I put out that much money for. By the way I've seen your AES collection and it's great, Im hoping to add some more to mine soon

One time they wanted to confiscate three Sega CD games because they were old. (Hell the customs agent looked younger than those games.) Luckily the customs agent was distracted by someone who was arguing with him because they're jerks. Woohoo.
Um. Anyway. I already own all those PS1 games but these copies are -incredibly mint- so they'll be replacing my old ones. The booth had a bunch of other PS1 games - Millionaire 3rd Edition, Tekken 3 GH, Tomb Raider 2 GH, some racing games... but I was pushing it so I only grabbed these.

I don't get the prices on Xenogears. I'm seeing complete copies sell on eBay for $25 but sometimes people go crazy and buy it for $50. o_O

Same for Dragon Warrior VII. I remember seeing high prices all over for it, and then out of nowhere Soera finds me a copy for like $30 less or something (I forget the exact price).

I haven't played that particular entry. But I love the series. If you like customization in your war-machines, you'll love the game.
It's made by the same people that made the King's Field series and Demon/Dark Souls series; From Software.
It's strange, because the series has actually been on my radar for a looooong time, and I think I may have rented AC1 or 2 way back when, but the constant pace of new games, especially during the PS2 years, always put me off a little. Not in the sense of diminishing quality so much as not knowing where the hell to start.
I had tried a demo of 4 on 360 awhile back, but the mechs felt too loose in their movements, and everything looked so small that I had trouble seeing. This one, at least from the videos I've watched, seems a bit more MechWarrior 2'ish, and that is a VERY good thing.

It's a very 80's arcadey type game. Your crab/ship thing moves straight and doesn't stop. You turn by sticking an arm out to grab a post. It works better as a game than it sounds on paper. Here's a video.

I don't usually buy digital games, but I picked up Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition from Steam for six dollars. I honestly did not think I would convince my parents that I could play the game. Its the first M rated game I have owned (except perfect dark for N64 I got in a game lot) and they were not overly enthusiastic. It was basically an awkwardly silent room for a half hour while they read about it online and I paced the room ha. I am really excited to play it though, it looks like my kind of game.

But the good news is your parents care and do their own research - I can't tell you how many parents came into my old shop and thought GTA was a driving game because there were cars on the box :/

I agree with Kimimi. I'm glad they're not writing off every game as being destructive, but they're also not naive about potentially inappropriate material.
The fact that they're willing to hear you out, then do some of their own research to understand your request is such a surprisingly refreshing sign of parents who really care. Most parents would either just say yes no matter what or say no to everything without being willing to discuss the topic.
Also! Congrats on the new game purchase!

Yeah they are usually pretty fair, but it was hard enough getting rated T games into the house I did not expect this. They have always had a negative connotation of most rated M games being like "that game where you can kill hookers and do drugs" so I hope I helped change that a bit.

Went to Thrillhouse games. Bought 33 games for 54.61. Nothing too amazing. The highlights would be:
Can't complain about Golden Axe II either. Sooo many fond memories spent in the arcade with that and the Mystara beat 'em ups :D
Golden Axe II was a Genesis exclusive.
Revenge of Death Adder was a different (and much cooler) game than Golden Axe II. But Golden Axe II was a great game that brought more beat-em up greatness on the Genesis.

Purchased Dishonored, LEGO Batman 2 and LEGO Lord of the Rings for $9.99 each. Not as massive as previous Black Friday runs, but satisfying nonetheless.

Nope. My brother had the Genesis one when we were kids and I loved that one. This is supposed to be a completely different game.

Well, today was a decent day for me. I sneaked a peek at the Gamestop black Friday ad weeks ago and noticed that they had Xenoblade going for $40. So I hit up the manager at the only branch I visit and he held it for me. Before I left to go pick it up, though, I got a surprise in the mail! A gift from a cool person. Megaman X collection for Gamecube. How sweet!
Finally made it to Gamestop and not only did I get my beautiful copy of Xenoblade but he included a brand new copy of Nintendo Land for the Wii U. :)

Nice! I was thinking of picking up another copy in case one of my local shops still had any towards the end of the day, but they've all been picked up.

Im glad he held it for me. They only had 8 copies total and they were gone almost immediately. :)
My wife's birthday is today so I also got her Dance 2014 on their black Friday sale (from $49.99 to $14.99) so thats what her and my daughter are doing right now. I dont mind waiting to start Xenoblade, Im just glad I finally have it in my possession. And since I already had the artbook, I got a matched set now. Eventually Ill get the Last story and Pandora's tower as well.

Spent a little more (no more arghh!), and grabbed Remember Me and DmC: Devil May Cry on PS3. I'd initially planned to get them on PC, but for some reason, I just prefer playing third-person stuff while sitting on the couch, and I'm too lazy to drag my desktop across the apartment to hook it up to the receiver.
I know it got poor reviews, but I can't really be the only person who's excited to check out Remember Me, can I? Seems like nobody's really saying much about it.

I finally found Bayonetta for 360! CIB and for 7 bucks. Been looking for a 360 copy for awhile and always found PS3 versions instead.
Excited to load it up soon.
I was severely underwhelmed by it. I hope you don't have the same experience.

the 360 one is suppose to look better, however I don't know it the ps3 version has been patched up or not

I've played both, and from my experience, the 360 version is leaps and bounds ahead of the PS3 version. More responsive control, better framerate, sharper and cleaner graphics, and better textures, and that's after it was patched to improve the load times.

Heh, I pretty much only wanted it on the 360 since I've been keeping my PS3 to exclusives only. I didn't realize there were differences in playability between them.

I tried and tried to justify the PS3 version before I borrowed it from a friend, figuring the compromise in visuals might be OK due to my preferring the DualShock for action games, but nope. Even the controls felt worse!
To be fair, it might be totally fine to anyone who hasn't played it on 360. I played the demo on PS3 originally, and didn't really have any issues, but once you compare the two... it's really kind of sad how poorly Sega did with that one.
