Title: The Christmas Thread
Post by: burningdoom on December 21, 2013, 03:49:41 pm
Merry Christmas VGCollect!

Went to a work Christmas party last night. Watched my drunk co-workers and had a couple of drinks myself. Had an alright dinner (it was catered and fancy, the cook just wasn't very good). And didn't win a single prize.  :(  But it was nice that my work does that for us.

My wife works on Christmas, so we did Christmas early for the 2 of us. And I scored! What I got:
-Batman: Arkham Origins (XBox 360)
-WWE 2K14 (XBox 360)
-Xenogears (PS1) (VGCollect.com Secret Santa)
-Megadeth: Rust In Peace: Remastered (CD) (VGCollect.com Secret Santa)
-Metallica: Kill 'Em All (CD)
-Disarmonia Mundi: The Isolation Game (CD)
-Man of Steel (DVD)
-Star Trek: Into Darkness (Blu-Ray & DVD)
-$10 Wal-Mart Gift Card (Work Secret Santa)
-Two awesome old school gaming t-shirts! One an NES controller t-shirt, and the other a 8-bit Super Mario Bros. t-shirt.
-And "The Chillow". A pillow that stays cool.

I still have 3 different family get-togethers to go to, though, between my dad's side of the family, my mom's side of the family (split family), and the in-laws. Busy, but I'm definitely thankful for a large and loving family.

So, what is everyone else's plan this year? What did you get?

As far as Christmas gift-unwrapping goes, my family basically waits then gathers until New Year.  Glad to know you'll be happily listening to some Megadeth and/or Metallica on the holidays while watching Man Of Steel lying on your Chillow.   ;D

Opened a few gifts with the girlfriend this morning and am heading to her families house in a bit for their family dinner. Probably won't be online much for the next few days so I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone!

I don't get any gifts from my family (I never ask for anything, I'd rather see them give stuff to my nieces and new nephew). But as our family tradition states, we're making tamales today. Nom.

You can have some, just drive down to my house. :P

Merry Christmas to all!

We just unwrapped our presents here (only time we could really do it due to my sister). Got that cool D-arts Megaman figure (http://www.tomopop.com/ul/26843-00%20Head.jpg), Memoir 44, Formula D and Shadows Over Camelot... and a bunch of random stuff (candy, chocolate, Army of Darkness the card game (what?) and such). Quite nice, and everyone else here was happy about their gifts too.

Not sure if any of you guys follow Nintendo Age but they also had a secret Santa thread. I signed up and went about business as usual. Meanwhile this was going on : http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=116215. Heh turns out I was the person he was buying for. Lol I was totally shocked when I got my package first off cause the box was the size of a microwave. I couldnt figure out wtf ... then I saw the address and the name (I know him and have spent a night at his house) and started laughing. He sent me a real gift as well (Jimmy Connor's tennis and Tecmo cup soccer NES carts and a NES game carrying case) and then at the bottom of the box was the portrait. Its now hanging in my game room. I posted a shot of me holding it on page 2 of the NA Santa reveal thread : http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?StartRow=21&catid=7&threadid=117361

Merry Christmas. I had a long exhausting day. If you've never had a Christmas with a 4 year old, you have no idea the amount of energy they have when presents are involved. I was up until 3 a.m. Then, The Boy got up at 8, ready to go. It's been nonstop of unwrapping, opening, putting together, and playing. Rinse and Repeat. I'm beat. I finally got him to sit still and watch a movie. I just want to go to bed.

I got to sleep in this morning. Having lazy teenagers is great sometimes. I'm exhausted from working 13-14 hour days for the past 3 weeks. Being a FedEx driver is no fun this time of year. I have to go in early tomorrow morning and Friday to help dig us out of the mountains of undelivered freight we have that we just couldn't get to. We got most of the residential stuff done, but lots of commercial stuff got left behind. Hopefully by Saturday, we will be caught up.

For Christmas I received the awesome Zelda 3DS bundle!  The only bad thing is it is download only and the servers have been so busy I have not been able to  download Link Between Worlds :(.

Merry Christmas to all if you. I'm going to show all my loot, so feel free to scroll down.
My wife coordinated with about everyone that gets me a gift. I ended up with too much stuff. Now, keep on mind a lot of this is The Boy's, so it not all mine.
I did get my white whale given to me: Snow Bros. It's finally mine.

I had a fantastic Christmas with a very loving family, and I made out like a bandit. I seriously don't know what I did to make the in-laws so happy, but I got almost $200 cash from them! I was floored! So a 3DS is definitely in my future!

We had a pretty relaxing, lowkey Xmas. Not an excessive amount of gifts, and only my mom, my aunt, and myself, but good food, and a nice respite from the day-to-day. Plus, I'm on vacation all week... albeit unpaid :/

I got:
- Beyond: Two Souls on PS3
- The Hobbit: Extended Edition Blu-ray
- Elektrolux Ecorapido vacuum
- Tons of Gold Toe socks
- Renters Insurance (seriously!)
- Huge pack of Soniccare toothbrush heads
- Doc Martens 1914 boots

Lots of very practical stuff, but I think my Mom has realized that I'll happily spend hundreds on new video games and records before I drop even 20 bucks on stuff like socks :p
Those of you who are under 30, enjoy it while you can because eventually, you too will be excited to receive a new vacuum, lol

Speaking of which, I gifted myself some records:
- Ladytron "Gravity the Seducer" LP
- Phantogram "Eyelid Movies" LP
- Phantogram "Nightlife" LP
- Portishead "Third" 2xLP

Hah!

Haha, the renters insurance is some nice peace of mind!  I got some after I bought my first bike and realized that it will come in handy in case anything tragic ever happens to my videogame collection...

Yeah, it's one of those things I reallllly should've taken care of a couple years ago when I moved, and my ex and I always had it, but guhh... responsible adult stuff argh blargh.

I realized how important it is somewhere over this last year though; our upstairs neighbor left his dishwasher running while he was out, spilling water through the ceiling fan in our place... and all over one of my synths. It still works, but has exhibited some weird behavior ever since, and the knobs on it (which were kind of rubberized) feel a bit sticky and weirdly malleable :/
