I've been collecting, nearly as long as I've been gaming. But I'd say I started really collecting and buying more games around the time I graduated high school, which was 10 or so years ago.

My collecting habits go up and down. Right now I'd say they are a bit down as I haven't bought anything in a few months. I really started about 8 years ago. At that time I had a few thousand games and really just tried to get my hands on anything that I could. I've since sold off almost everything but am focusing on a few core platforms now.

I started collecting nearly ten years ago, but the way things are now makes me wish I'd started sooner. I remember going to Toys 'R' Us when they were having their Super Nintendo closeout sale. Oh, If only I could go back there..

I started about 6-8 months ago (maybe more. time goes by too quickly). my final fantasy collection has definately expanded quickly. I've also picked up consoles and games along the way. a lot of nostalgia. (Pokemon snap, Mario, Kirby).

I always had a lot of super nintendo games, but I really started collecting 2 or 3 years ago. It's really grown too

I started about 3(or was it 4?) years ago. I already had roughly 40 games in total including all my systems (since I never sold anything other than some N64 and gamecube games), but I wasn't really "collecting". It really started when I was looking at my few NES games, and thought "Wait, I don't have Crystalis, wtf?", and now... well... just look at my collection :P Thank you Crystalis :P
Even then, I didn't really realize I was collecting until I woke up one day with 100 NES games in my room :P
It helps that, at that time, I found jjgames.com, which had much cheaper prices at the time, and free international shipping on orders over 25$ (they don't anymore, so I pretty much stopped ordering from them).

Since I bought my first SNES when I was 6-7. Haven't sold a game since. I'm 20 years old and own over 460 games. My collection on here doesn't reflect that since I haven't set aside time to update it.

Started honest to god collecting in 1998. I miss FuncoLand... :(

haha I worked at FuncoLand during the GameStop merger. It was so great because the store I went to was so unorganized and the inventory was all out of whack. We found so many gems during the first month.

I've been collecting for 23 years. Sometimes I collect more than others.

I've been collecting for 7 months, yeah not a long time but I know. I started when I finally realized how much I love PS1 games.. I bought a few more games, and then today, I can't stop buying them.

Hmm...interesting question. I never really threw anything away from when I was still getting NES games for Christmas but I probably didn't start collecting until a few years ago. Maybe 4ish?
I had plenty of titles before I officially began which is why I have so many games. I collect in spurts. I'll buy a ton of games over a 3-month period and buy nothing for several after that. Honestly, if I'm really into playing games I don't really spend much time buying them. Since October I've played through Dark Souls, have 50ish hours in Skyrim and about 4.5 days in MW3 so I haven't done much hunting lately.

15 years off and on. I tend to collect many things so I usually transition between video games, anime, and MTG cards.

I've been a fan of video games all my life but I've only been seriously collecting for about 5 years. I got a job at a local used game retailer and several of the other employes where big into collecting so I was sort of inspired by them. Over time my collection went from a modest handful of PS1 and PS2 games to what I have today. Though I have slowed down lately. I only really buy something if I really want it and if I can get it at a good price.

I'm a lot like @darko...I've never sold my games back, ever, so I had a pretty substantial collection before I "collected". I was a Nintendo kid...had the ColecoVision when I was real little (my parents bought it just before I was born, guessing my age should be easy...) and then the NES, SNES, N64, Virtual Boy, GameCube, and every type of GameBoy. Then I met my husband, and he was a Sega kid, and he had sold very little of his stuff.
When we started seriously dating, he gave me a Dreamcast with a necklace in the CD tray...it was true love. Since then, we've collected games as a hobby we can do together. It's actually both good and bad, as our collection is huge because of it. He plays a lot of shooters, simulations and horror games, I play mostly RPGs, puzzle games, and point 'n click stuff. It really means that a big release doesn't go by without one of us wanting the game...and in the case of Star Wars: The Old Republic, both of us. :P
To answer your actual question: The two of us have been collecting together for about 8-9 years now.

I have been collecting since about 2002...... so I guess 10 years wow. I only really started to focus on it about 5 years ago. I used to collect dvds also but I got bored with that so I have just focused on games.

Guess I've been collecting since the Colecovision, I still have my original system, which still works and have never sold any games that weren't extras. When my kid was younger and wanted to upgrade to a new system I would buy all his games and systems so he could get new system and games. I guess one day he will inherit all the games I've collected thru the years.
