Do we want all the Nintendo Game & Watches listed as "Game & Watch: Title"? I'm working on submitting some edits to a few of the entries.
I'm going to change some of the names to Game & Watch: Title - Panorama Screen.
The Panorama Screen was a style of the game It folded out. They were different from the normal Game & Watches. There were 6 that were made like that.
-
Are they the same game, but with a different screen set up?
If it's a variation then it would be something like:
Game & Watch: Title (Panorama Screen)
-
Alright. I'll go fix them
-
I'm not a huge G&W collector. I only have five. But I do find it somewhat annoying. They're already categorized as Game & Watch and so why does it need to say "Game & Watch:" at the beginning of every entry? It's not like every GameCube game is listed as "Nintendo GameCube: 'Title'."
-
True.
Game & Watch are confusing for me. I've never dealt with them at all, so I don't really know anything about them.
In that case. Drop the Game & Watch from the title, it does make more sense that way.

Correct. Some earlier games were re-released into newer series as time went on.
-
Ah alright. So, then it would be something like
Ball
Ball (Panorama Screen)
Ball - Club Nintendo Re-Release
Ya?

Yep. That's how it should look. There are a couple of different categories. Crystal display, panorama screen, etc...
I thought the Game & Watch at the beginning was a little redundant too. They were all listed like that, so I just rolled with it.

This may sound stupid but what exactly are the game and watches? Are they like a miniature game boy?
-
They are the precursor to the Game Boy. They are super simple handheld games with an LCD screen, like the Tiger Electronics handhelds. If you look at a few of them you can see where the body design of the DS came from, cause they are dual screen and clamshell.

If you've ever played Smash Bros. Melee or Brawl you've probably seen Mr. Game & Watch. He gets his moves from these handhelds. They made about 60 different models, each with a different game on it. There were a lot of knockoffs, the most successful being the Tiger Electronics in the west and Electronika in Russia/USSR.
Here's some footage of G&W Parachute and Fire that I took.

Anyhow do you need any help sorting out the G&W listings guys?
-
I don't know anything about G&W stuffs, so if you guys want to hop on it, feel free.
Also, I always read your name as "Bad at Tacos" I have no idea why... ???

LOLz. Yeah. I've had used this screen name for years and a lot of people do that. I've started using bad@chaos to help break up the words, which does seem to help. It doesn't help the name isn't really correct English either.

Im just wondering why Game & watch is in different list then LCD games. They are almost the same with the bandai's, the commodore's, the vtech's, etc.

Game & Watch are a brand/line under Nintendo's, so that makes them deserving of their own section, no questions asked. Not to mention, there were some generic LCD games (http://vgcollect.com/item/39916) made by Nintendo that were not in the Game and Watch line, so they're not getting special Nintendo treatment or anything. Also, with enough entries by a certain brand, it can get its own section, like Tiger (http://vgcollect.com/browse/tigerlcd). I'm not against a Vtech addition, since I have a CIB Master Video Painter, so I'd suggest asking Matt to make the section(s) you believe are missing, by going to this thread (http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,74.0.html). Bear in mind, there should be a good amount of entries or a promise of a good amount before requesting it.

Im not into game & watch or lcd. So no request from me.
On that note, there is a other request of me over there ;)
-
huh... it does kind bring up the idea:
Should Tiger LCD, Konami LCD be placed under LCD Games? Similar to Virtual Boy being under Nintendo Other.
-
I think Virtual Boy needs to get moved out of Nintendo other and into its own cat, for sure.

I agree with this.
-
just for the... 22 games for it?

Well, it's not really an afterthought like Mini Classics, it was a real retail handheld console... Even though it only had 22 games. I'd say we leave this one up to debate before taking action.
-
My line of thought is that it was a full blown retail console, so it should more than likely have it's own parent cat. Even though it completely bombed in the market and only a handful of games were released isn't a big deal.
-
I agree, Virtual Boy should have its own category. Were there any accessories for it besides the power adapter thingy?

Yeah, this is just about my line of thought.

Yes. (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/hardware/?type=accessories)
-
So I suppose we should add an accessories category while we're at it.
-
I can add the parent cat for Virtual Boy, but Matt's the one to do the code magic needed to move it from Nintendo Other to a new one. I'm not sure if he's around this weekend of not though, I haven't talked to him all day.

The only accessories I know of was the Battery Pack, AC Adapter, and an official carrying case. I'm not sure but I think they might have sold spare stands as well. If they did it would be uber rare.
