The "Cart/Disk" option should be changed to "Unit". I see a ton of collectors on here put that they have the "Cart/Disk" for the N64 or Atari 2600 in their collection, changing this to "Unit" would cover almost all subjects.

Or, you know. Media.

This question was brought up recently on this thread: http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,4502.0.html (http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,4502.0.html)
The only problem with Media is that not everything on the site is software. I think the best thing to do would replace cart/disk with Media and for Hardware and other non-game categories have Unit or something similar.

wtf is a unit?
"an individual thing regarded as single and complete but which can also form an individual component of a larger or more complex whole."
In other words when some person collects an item that isn't media, like a disk or cartridge, for example I will use a Nintendo 64, "unit" would cover all subjects regardless of what item is in question. Bought an n64 in the box? Check that you have the box. Have the paperwork that comes along with it? Check manual. Have the actual n64 unit? Check.... disk? Doesn't make sense to me whereas if you bought a video game, unit is still interchangeable with that and pretty much all other collectables listed on the site at the moment.

I think that the best will be cart/disk/media.

I was the one that started the other thread. I still stick with my suggestion of "item" ... it means its the item named whether its a guide, a game, a console, a bag of Mario chips, etc.
-
Originally, the other categories that aren't games had different fields (No Developer field in the Book category, etc.), I don't remember exactly why that changed.
-
Maybe it should say "tapes" instead.

"Item" is all encompassing though.
