Hopefully I am closer to the first 2 rounds totals, rather than last round's number.  :)

If you'd quit paying bills with it, you would.

This thread is no place for responsible people.

I guess we should have explained this since we have so many new folks around.

What this is all about is, we save change for six months. Then, we buy something we normally wouldn't. Last time (Ver. 2.0) I bought Chip 'n Dale 2.  This time I think I'm going to buy Wacky Races.

On October 20th we'll report back with change totals and what we bought. It's an easy way to raise cash for stupid video games.  ;D

My first round I ended up paying a bill with it I think. Second round was pretty sad and just added like $25 to a purchase. This round it paid for 1/2 of my Tales of Symphonia CE. My goal for round 4 is Magic knight Rayearth or Panzer Dragoon Saga. I plan to pick up a used Saturn in the mean time.

Completely understand the full details of this event now...  Bought a PlayStation Vita and became a Supporter on the previous event, wonder what I'll be doing this time around.  I am definitely joining in on this one!

I mostly use plastic for my transactions but I think I'll start using more cash again for this period just to take part in this. Plus that gives me a good excuse to go by the bank and get some more $2 bills.

Unfortunately, I think I'll have to pass on this as I never pay cash, so I'm not getting any change other than the nickels I find on the ground haha.

I have to say this time around is going to be shocking for me. Ive been cheating obviously and turning some of my nightly tips into change. Its a bit over a month since this started and Im already over $160. I already moved out of my first container I saved my change in the previous 3 times into a container probably 5 times the size and its almost full. :)

I really need to save up to buy a vehicle for myself. Ive been delivering in the wife's car and I feel bad.

How much do you get tips?  I did not even know tips were given on pizza.  The few times I ordered a pizza, I never gave a tip and the driver never asked.  Now with my order total I would pay an extra dollar for delivery.  Is that basically the tip?

We, as drivers, are never allowed to ask for tips. But picture the 2 scenarios. One a waiter, two a delivery driver. A waiter may walk a few feet to your table, bring your food and maybe refill your glass. A driver uses their car and their gas to bring you your food straight to your house. Everyone tips waiters yet not everyone tips drivers. Its mind boggling.

Delivery charge is bullshit. That goes to the restaurant, not the driver. :( I get asked that a few times a week.

Yea I get what your saying.  The way I look at it as a consumer, the few times I will get some nice pizza for delivery, granted the pizza is very very good, its still costly.  My 22 dollars sub total, along with 10 percent sales tax where I live, and then still have to pay an extra delivery fee.  It's hard to shell out something else for a tip.  Maybe if they did not charge a delivery fee it would be different but delivery fee is always 1.00-3 bucks so its hard to tip on that  unfortunately.

Do they pay your gas tho?  I know my local Dominos and Pizza Hut seem to always be hiring drivers and they claim they pay the gas mileage along with the hourly rate.  The thing is too Soera, almost 90 percent of the time when I order pizza delivery or pick up, the order is wrong.  One rule I have if I eat at a restaurant, I will not tip if I have any problems what so ever.  I would apply the same for pizza.  My local Pizza Hut is so horrible I havent used them at all in an entire year and I sent feedback by email to the district manager and the local store manager and I was blown off by both so I no longer use them.

Anyways, this is the first that I have ever given it some thought based on what you said.  I just cant understand the delivery charge.

Delivery charge goes to the restaurant only?

Thank you for this information, I'll gladly tip the driver next time I order delivery.

This is how my restaurant works. I get paid minimum wage + $1 a delivery + tips. My store charges $2.10 as a delivery charge (what an odd number but whatever).

Our personal store is pretty damned good at getting orders right. We may have 1-2 mistakes a night but even then, most of them are just false (like people claiming cold food when it gets there under the mentioned delivery time or pre-made items "missing" ingredients or whatever). Sometimes we do have legit issues where the wrong pizza went to the wrong house or super late items when we are getting our asses handed to us but in those cases, our store eats the cost.

Our fees are average as far as the food itself. We have a $10 minimum (that includes the delivery charge and the tax) and there are plenty of times I take orders that are really close to that minimum. $22 for a single pizza is pretty absurd unless you are ordering the largest pizza on the menu and getting double of every damned topping in the store on there. Here is our website : http://www.mazzios.com/ :)

Lol.  I didn't mean 22 for one pizza I meant as my order sub total.  Pizza, sauce, cheese or bread sticks and another pizza for the kids.  I would never pay 22 for one.  But see, that 1 dollar you get paid for delivery isnt that like a tip pay?  Sounds like the 2.10 delivery charge may include your 1.00 delivery and the rest is just profit for the restaurant

Well, I have been keeping up with this. I have 2 change containers now. One is a crayon box and its full of nothing but quarters. I also have a tupperware fridge box with 2 slots. The smaller one is nothing but nickels, the bigger one is dimes. I am really looking forward to seeing what this is going to be when its all said and done! :D

One rule I have if I eat at a restaurant, I will not tip if I have any problems what so ever.  I would apply the same for pizza.

You do realize that most times when your order is messed up, its not the fault of the waitress or the driver. Most of the time its the person preparing your food. and did you also realize that in most circumstances the waitress or driver relies on your tips as their primary source of income; they get paid next to nothing for serving you. Please do not take this the wrong way, but you should really think about throwing your rule out. People working in the service industry have a difficult and stressful job. They have to deal with assholes all day and the money they make really isnt worth the shit they have to deal with. If you've never seen the movie Waiting, you may want to check it out. the biggest thing you can take away from it is you "Don't fuck with people that handle your food"

I do apologize if this rant came off the wrong way. I'm not trying to give you crap, just hoping you might be able to see the oter side of things.

First post in the forums (Nice to meet everyone)!

Just wanted to say I love this idea, and I'll be participating as well. I emptied my coin jar at some point earlier this year, so we'll just call the change accumulated since as "from April". I look forward to seeing what everyone ends up getting themselves. :)

I don't have mine counted up, but I know it's not as much as it has been in the past.  I do, however, have my eye on a couple of extras someone around here had.  If they still have it on the 20th, I think I know where my change will go.

Have you consider on taking all the change into the store when you buy the stereo? Box full change at checkout.

Since Im sadly going to be working all day tomorrow, Im going to put up my final tally here now.
$340 in quarters, 84.60 in dimes, 16.80 in nickels, $13 in $1 coins. $454.40 (not bothering with the pennies. It would only be another couple bucks). Its pretty cool to see that much change saved up.

Ok, finally got a chance to tally up the amounts yesterday.

Round 1:
4/21/2013: $36.33

Round 2:
10/25/2013: $50.85

Round 3:
4/28/2014: $10.35

Round 4:
10/23/2014: $47.57

Not great, especially since the bf has been contributing a few coins since moving in a few months ago, but maybe we'll have better luck in the future :).  He and I don't use cash very often, so that's a big part of it.  But hey, we can def pick up a few items with that money (or at least pay off one of my preorders  ::) ).

My girlfriend and I are at $107.01 according to our change jar that keeps track of what you put in. Since we're going to Disney World next week, I imagine that money will go towards paying off whatever we put on the credit card while down there  ;D. Sad it can't go towards games!

Enjoy that trip.  I'm giant kid and loved Disney World.  It was a blast.  I probably had more fun than The Boy.
That $107 isn't going to go very far though.

Oh I know it won't. I've been before but my girlfriend hasn't. Her excitement is rubbing off on me though so it's like going again for the first time.  We've got some other cash saved up too, but I'm sure I'll be paying off more when we get back lol.

Wednesday can't come soon enough  :D.

Speaking of. I'm a little late to report in. I was waiting on the prize to get here.

I saved around $50. I took that cash to eBay and picked up a boxed copy if Rockin' Kats for the NES.  It's a damn fun game too. Hidden gem?

It's not my best total, but it got me a good game.

$30 I'm just going to use it on my pre-orders for Smash and Persona Q since both are coming out on the same pay week for me and my orders are for the special editions this will help.
