My favorites are on N64, but for that I would say probably personally...Crash Bandicoot was a fun one.  I think the Gex series is on PS1 also and those games could be entertaining.  I know there are a few more I liked, just drawing a blank right now.

The Crash Bandicoot trilogy, Spyro trilogy, and Pac-Man World were all great 3D platformers for PS1.

Can't say I ever played Croc.  I never particularly owned a PS1, so all of my time was at either a local trading card/sports shop where I would hang out playing PS1 games like Crash, Tekken 3, and Twisted Metal 2.  Then my friends had them which was how I got into some other games.

Not PS1 but...

Duke Nukem: the Manhattan Project.

It's a Contra-esque sidescroller but fully 3d rendered.

It originally came out during the PS1/PS2 era.

Spyro trilogy was good as was Crash Bandicoot. I also liked Tomb Raider, the first couple of games. Croc was ok.

Almost forgot...Ape Escape! Awesome game!

Spyro trilogy was amazing, I felt it was far better than any other 3D platformers out at the time.  Medieval was also good, but tough.  I also highly recommend Ape Escape.

Not PS1, but PS2 - the Maximo games are excellent.

Yes, if you're going to include 2.5D platformers then you have to mention Klonoa & the Tomba games.  Some of my favorite games on the platform.

I had a great time with Ape Escape, more so than the Bandicoots.  Pac Man World had its moments too.
