What console has the most sequels of a single game franchise.
I thinks its Megaman on NES or Fantasy on ps2 please let me know what you think!
-
Probably Mega Man. There was 9 of them on the NES weren't there? I can't think of anything else that significant on any other system. Many series aren't even up that high in count. The PS2 only had a couple Final Fantasy games.
-
There were 6 on the nes, on the ps2 you had things like Final Fantasy X-2 and stuff
-
There have been 6 Assassin's Creed games on the PS3/360 so far...
-
Guitar Hero - PS2
1. Guitar Hero
2. Guitar Hero II
3. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
4. Guitar Hero: World Tour
5. Guitar Hero 5
6: Guitar Hero: Encore Rocks the '80s
7. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
8. Guitar Hero: Metallica
9. Guitar Hero: Van Halen

Ah right, forgot that it only went to 6 on Mega Man on the NES, thought it was just Mega Man X on SNES. For Final Fantasy, there is X, X-2, 11, 12, and Dirge of Cerberus.
Guitar Hero might make it there with that for sure, though I'd probably exclude 80's which was basically just a stand alone song pack, the band ones actually had a little effort into them with including band members and doing mo-cap and stuff. Think I only need two more and I have all the PS2 releases.

Forgot all about sports games. We can do a number of those: Madden, Smackdown, 2K games, etc.

Well remember, in Mega Man, X =/= 10. MM 8 was a PSOne game I believe and 9 & 10 were both released on PS3 & 360. Not sure what system 7 is on.

Yeah, but I think you pretty much have to disqualify sports games from the question. I mean, it's a given that they're coming out with a new one every year, so at that point it pretty much becomes a question of "what console stuck around the longest?" :P

There'd be even more if you count the FIFA World Cup games that came out in 2002 and 2006 and the UEFA Championship games that came out in 2004 and 2008

In Europe we have Fifa 13 and Fifa 14 on the ps2 but almost all FIFA games are remakes with updated teams so not really sequels but hey you can say that for megaman as well ;p

If we're excluding sports and music games, I'd say it's probably the 360 with 9 COD games. Every Call of Duty game other than the original has been released on the 360.
COD 2
COD 3
COD Modern Warfare
COD Modern Warfare 2
COD Modern Warfare 3
COD World at War
COD Black Ops
COD Black Ops 2
COD Ghosts
And while not direct sequels, I think I counted 15 Tom Clancy games that came out on the original Xbox.

Second that. Sports games aside, Tom Clancy is the holder of top spot.

But Splinter Cell =/= Rainbow Six =/= Ghost Recon, etc. That's kinda like saying all of the Disney games on a console are sequels to each other.

So then COD is tied with Guitar Hero. And 15 Tom Clancy games? Really? Dang.

If we take out sports games the answer is Mega Man NES????
-
Series wise, Simple series, 97 indv. games on the ps1, runner up, kinect series with 25 on xbox 360.
Sku wise, 24 Tom Clancys on the Xbox 360.
Sports wise Madden with 15 on ps2.
Actual franchise wise, its like a 12-way tie. Most of which are on the Xbox 360 FOLLOWED BY the o2.

No, we've established that both Guitar Hero and COD have had 9 releases on 1 console. And someone said that there were 15 Tom Clancy games. Mega Man had 6 on the NES. (Not counting sports games, like you said.)

Tom Clancy games don't count. Just because dude's name is in the title does make them sequels or a series. Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon have nothing to do with each other.

My apologies, you just be in a bad mood because your reaction doesnt make sense. I assure you I was not trying to seem like a "rick" if I came off that way.
