Title: Playstation 2
Post by: denniedarko on June 09, 2014, 06:19:41 pm
Just received my slim PS2 I purchased new from amazon, and was curious what the best model # is for these. It looks different then the slim I had before, and is model # SCPH - 90001.

I believe the 9000's are the last models released, in fact I bought one a couple years ago at a bestbuy brand new, that was a 9000. I think they just moved some of the internal stuff around. I prefer the fat models myself but the slims are great for the reliability

As far as I know, the fat models are the ones you'll need to play Final Fantasy XI since it has a hard drive connection...  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Design-wise, I love the ejecting disc drive on the fat PS2 rather than the opening drive/container on the slim.

That would be correct, MJ.  FFXI install is 20 gb and mandatory.  As far as the slim models go The later units are fairly solid.  Which is the 90000's.  The earlier ones in my experience had over-heating issues.
