Title: Your Gaming Origins
Post by: burningdoom on August 16, 2014, 01:01:59 pm
What are your gaming origins?
-How old were you when you started gaming?
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
-What was your first favorite game?
-Etc.

Okay, I'll go first:
-I've been plugging away at controllers and joysticks for as long as I can remember. So I'd probably assume I was about 3 or 4 years old when I started gaming. Which was about 1987-1988.
-My older sister had an Atari 2600 that I started gaming on. But I didn't REALLY start being a true gamer until we got our NES when I was about 6 years old.
-Like I mentioned in the last answer, it was a console that I started on. Atari 2600, then the NES.
-Super Mario Bros. on NES was the game that really made me fall in love with gaming. I now have every single pixel picture perfectly ingrained into my memory. When I'm 85 years old at the retirement home, I won't remember how to put on my pants, but I'll still be able to navigate the maze-castle level with ease!
-After the initial wow-factor of SMB, I'd say my first favorite game was The Legend of Zelda on NES. I spent hours upon hours scouring the countryside of Hyrule looking for that one last secret cave or bush I hadn't yet uncovered. My sister, who typically wasn't a big gamer like me, was so into the game that she hand-drew maps of each dungeon as she played through them!

- I think I was 4ish, maybe 5. Twas around the year of 1993.
- By the time I knew what was what, my brother already had an NES and SNES, and even a Genesis. I played NES and SNES about the same, we rarely played anything Genesis, besides Skitchin and Sonic of course.
- The first console that was fully mine, was either my kiwi colored GBC, or my PS1. I can't remember which.
- The first games I remember being sucked into were Contra, Super Mario Bros, Gradius, and Mario Kart.
- My first favorite game I would say was probably Punch Out, the SNES version. Was obsessed with that game for some reason.

Best guess I could make is around 7 years old. My family had an Atari and I remembered how difficult that joystick was to me. We then upgraded to the Super FamiCom and still I hated the controls. I remember playing Lion King on the Sega Genesis at my friend's house and just lost time playing there. There was another console that my family had, I just don't remember what it was.
Also, I played a couple of times at local arcades but always enjoyed console games because then I could save my money for trading cards than see my allowance quickly disappear on tokens.

When I was around 4 years old, I believe it was a family friend that gave us a box with an NES and an assortment of games. I don't remember who or why, but it was around 1990. From then on out, I was hooked to the games. Me and my dad would play the original Zelda NES together and to date, after getting him as much Zelda games as I could, he's played more Zelda than I have lol There was also Super Mario Bros with Duck Hunt, and maybe a few more. I remember some of the bible games like Exodus and Bible Buffet I use to play too, but I think those were a couple years later.
My first console that was totally mine for sure, was the N64. I had an original one and then abit later got the Atomic Blue one that I still have, though I realize I don't have the controller anymore for some reason. It would've been like Super Mario 64 as my first game and it continues to be one of my favorite Mario games of all time.

The first console I remember playing was an NES, but I was very young (3 or 4ish probably) and we never owned one, my parents were kinda against video games (not to an extreme degree I think they mostly thought they were a waste of money) so I relied mostly on playing them at other peoples' houses and occasionally my parents would rent an NES back when video stores used to rent out systems. I don't have a bunch of fond memories with the NES but there are a few games I remember such as Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, Blades of Steel and Bad News Bears Baseball are honestly the ones that stand out the most in my memory. I guess the first gaming system we owned would've been our old computer that we got when I was probably 5 or 6. I remember playing a bunch of games on that, Commander Keen, Raptor Call of the Shadows, Lamborghini American Challenge, Star Wars Rebel Assault, Bio Menace, Wolfenstein and Doom (and then there were some other classics like Math Blaster, Captain Bible and Oregon Trail that still hold a special place in my heart).
I guess Commander Keen was as much the game that "pulled me in" as any other. But I think I truly became a video game lover once our friends gave us their old SNES once the N64 came out. That SNES was the only console in our household from late '95 until Christmas of 2001 when we got our PS2. Games like Super Punch Out, Super Mario All-Stars/World, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, Kirby's Dream Course were the main ones we had that I played a lot (didn't get into RPGs until much, much later). Donkey Kong Country 2 is easily my first "favorite" game and it still stands to this day as one of my favorite games. I guess I can kinda go into why I have such an attachment to this game here, since this thread is all about our history. So probably a good 12 or so years ago for Christmas Eve, my brother Erich and I (who shared a room at the time) stayed up all night playing DKC2 to completion and have since every year done the same thing every Christmas Eve (we may have missed a few years here and there, but it still holds as a tradition for us) and I have as much fun doing it every year as I did the year before and I hope it's something we continue to do til one of us dies. Some of my other siblings will occasionally join us as well, but it's mostly an Erich and me thing. He also happens to be the only brother I have that doesn't live in the same city as me, so Christmas is one of the few times each year I see him. It's just such a nice memory/tradition that the game just has a special place in my heart.

I started gaming when I was about 3-4 so that was when I was first playing educational games on windows 95/windows 98 at the time. Besides that, I had a few experiences with playing Kirby and the Crystal Shards for the N64 at a McDonald's near by my house, which was something that happened about once a month. My first true console I owned was my black Gamecube, which given to me(with part of my money) on Christmas 2001. It's the same Gamecube that I use today for my gaming setup and works just as well as it did when I first bought. It's place in the household was constantly in peril as my mom unsuccessfully tried to get rid of the console multiple times and throw it out since she totally hates video games, but I've thankfully managed to save it for all these years.
I got hooked onto gaming with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II. That game is one of the best-looking of the system with its visuals and gameplay, and really drew me into the game, along with the fact its one of the best representations of the Stars Wars world even today.
My first favorite game was Super Mario Sunshine. I got the game at launch, and played through it over the next few weeks and totally enjoyed the experience. I had lost that copy of the game a few years after due to needed cash, but a few years ago, I received another copy of the game from a friend and was totally excited with this recovery. To this game, Sunshine remains one of my favorite games, and I'm currently doing a 100% run of the game.

Awesome thread idea! I love reading these :)
I first played games on DOS when I was 2 years old, but I started playing "for real" at 3 or 4 years old on the NES. I also had a gameboy, but I don't know how old I was then. I loved Super Mario 3 and Zelda the most, though in Zelda I was imitating my mother more than playing and exploring haha (I always redid the same parts which I knew how to do). Then on gameboy, I played the hell out of Super Mario Land 2 and Link's Awakening. I don't think I really had a favorite in between these 4 though.
I initially started gaming because of my mother, which is pretty unusual, I think ;D
Edit: Talked to my mom and 2 is a bit too early. Make that beginning on DOS at 3 haha :P

-How old were you when you started gaming?
5 years old. My brother borrowed a Colecovision from a friend.
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC? Coleco. I got a NES in 1988.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned? Technically it was this weird Atari Pong machine that turned out after a few years.
-What was the game that initially drew you in? I have no idea. If you could play it, then I wanted to play it.
I'm kinda boring. :p

-How old were you when you started gaming?
Before Kindergarten. I was probably around 5. I remember seeing the NES. But the first system I remeber playing is the Game Gear. I had a speech therapy teacher that had one.
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
The system I really started on was the Commodore 64. My dad taught me to play stuff on that after I started bugging them about the NES and Game Gears.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
Commodore 64 via family. But my first was an NES top loader.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
Super Mario Bros
-What was your first favorite game?
Kirby's Adventure probably. But maybe Mario 3.

This will hopefully touch on all those points.
I first started playing video games in the arcade and on a Sega Genesis at my cousin's house back in 1991. I remember my dad used to take me to a local sports bar called No Frills Grill and they had several arcade and pinball machines; the ones I remember playing the most were Galaxia, Off Road, and an Elvira Mistress of the Dark pinball machine. Now onto my cousin's Sega Genesis. When I was pretty young, my parents used to have a lot of BBQs and get togethers at my Aunt and Uncles house, and while the adults were outside drinking, the kids were in the basement playing the Genesis! I remember playing Hard Driving, Mutant League Football, and my absolute favorite, Sonic the Hedgehog over there. It was Sonic specifically that got me really, really into the Genesis, so much so I convinced my parents to let me stay the night, just so I could play the Genesis longer lol. Of course this eventually led to me wanting a Sega Genesis of my own, and for my 5th birthday my wish came true.
Sadly I didn't get Sonic as one of my first games, but with my Genesis I got The Flintstones (extremely underrated game), Home Alone, and Batman Returns. I mostly played the Flintstones, and also used to rent a lot of games from a local video rental store that has been out of business since probably 1999 called famous Video. I remember renting titles like Joe and Mac, Wolf Child, Mic and Mac Global Gladiators, King of Monsters, and Alien 3 often from there. And of course I rented Sonic, as well as Sonic 2 when it came out. I also fell in love with fighting games via Street Fighter 2 and Tournament Fighter. Lol yeah, I have a lot of fond memories of renting Sega Genesis from that rental store :p. I would get about half a dozen more Genesis games over the next few years, with my favorite being Sonic 3 in 1994, but I don't feel like my love of video games grew from interest to obsession until a few years later on a different console.
The first Nintendo console I ever owned was a SNES I got from my aunt back in 1994. While I loved games like Donkey Kong Country and Doom, I always defaulted back to my Genesis during the 16-bit era. It wasn't until Christmas 1996 when I received a Nintendo 64 along with Super Mario 64 that I fell in love with Nintendo and became obsessed with gaming. I remember being totally blown away by the 3D worlds in Super Mario 64, and it was the first game I ever felt like it never got boring or old. Before obtaining all 120 Stars, I probably put around 100+ hours into that game. Super Mario 64 was only a gateway into the many other amazing N64 titles that I would play and fall in love with. it was during this time when I was fully engrossed in the N64's library that I started to become passionate about video games, subscribing to several video game magazines, going to a local game store for hours just to browse and look at titles, and nearly every penny I earned through chores was spent on video games. I was truly in love.
That love and passion for gaming has continued all these years despite waning at times, but right now it is stronger then ever. So yeah, that is my gaming origins in a nutshell :p

Really fun reading through all of these :D I guess it started in 2002 when I was about 2 years old. I had this obsession with pressing buttons and seeing what happened (Not always the safest of traits :P ) so my Dad bought me a PS1 with Tekken 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Spiderman and a few demo discs. Playing those, pushing all the buttons and all the cool stuff that was happening (When I press this one... he punches things!) really started to get me into it. Eventually I started getting more acquainted to what buttons did what on each game and after a while Dad bought me a Gamecube when I was about 5. Sonic Heroes and 1080 Avalanche were my jams :P then over the years I went on to having my sister's PS2, then a PS3, then a 360. My first sight into collecting and having shelves and displaying them all was with AlphaOmegaSin. I was kinda interested in the game Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale when it was coming out, and Alpha's video was the first one that came up. I started watching more of his videos and YouTubers like him and I finally ended up where I am today!:D

Outside of that was my friend letting me use her Game boy to play Mario, Pokemon and i think Road Rash
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
First console was a Nintendo 64, handheld was a Game Boy Colour.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
Hotwheels Stunt Track Driver spent a lot of time making courses in that game
-What was your first favorite game?
That I owned that would be Pokemon Silver. Otherwise I would say Red

-How old were you when you started gaming? I wasn't old enough to remember what age exactly.
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC? Mainly PC at home, edutainment titles like Math Blaster, Reader Rabbit, and The Magic School Bus. I also played a fair bit or Lego Island, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and the early Harry Potter games on the PC. I did play some N64 and Dreamcast games at friends and relatives' houses, but didn't own an N64 until years later.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned? It was actually fairly old compared to most of the kids my age when I got my first system. It was a red GBA SP model AGS-001, which I still have and even kept the box for. ;D My first console was a Platinum DOL-101 model GameCube. Still have the box for that one too.
-What was the game that initially drew you in? Roller Coaster Tycoon.
-What was your first favorite game? Roller Coaster Tycoon. :P

What are your gaming origins? My brothers had an Atari 2600 and I remember playing River Raid, Indiana Jones and Popeye on it? That lasted for awhile and I didn't get an NES until after my cousins already had one.
-How old were you when you started gaming?
Pretty young. I'd say it was mid-80s? So I'd have been like 4-5?
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
Atari 2600. But the first system I played a lot of was the NES, which we got for Easter one year. Our first games were Mario/Duck Hunt, Cobra Triangle and 1943.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
The first console I owned exclusively was the SNES. The NES and Atari were "Family" systems. I got an SNES for Christmas along with Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, Congos Caper and Aladdin.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
Super Mario Bros was a big deal. But I also played a crap ton of Duck Hunt and Cobra Triangle. 1943, while I liked it, I also hated it because I could never beat the 1st boss level.
-What was your first favorite game? Probably have to go with Super Mario Bros. But as soon as I saw Bionic Commando I loved it instantly. So maybe one of those two. I didn't get into Castlevania stuff until I borrowed Castlevania III from my cousin.

How did this all start? hmmmmm.....
-How old were you when you started gaming?
I would say I was around 5 years old or so. I'm not exactly sure. It could have been younger.
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
It was a console. "Which one?" you ask? You'll have to wait until the next question.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
My first console was an Atari 2600. Maybe it was my parents. I'm not sure. It was a long, long time ago.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
The first game that really drew me in was Super Mario Bros. I studied the manual to that game. I memorized every character name. I truly loved Super Mario Bros.
-What was your first favorite game?
I think my first favorite was either Baseball, Football, or Pac-Man (yeah, that Pac-Man) on the Atari 2600.

-How old were you when you started gaming?
I think I was around three or four. Late 80s, anyway.
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
We had an APF TV Fun pong console (Dad got it for Christmas in the late 70s), Atari 7800 (purchased new as a replacement for another game console after a flood, had the option between that and an NES lol) and two arcade machines in the basement: Popeye and Ms. Pac-Man. We had to sell the arcade machines when we moved but picked up a Sega Master System at a friend's garage sale. We were a bit late to the home computer market; didn't pick a machine up until 1994 (a Dell 486 with Windows 3.1).
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
The first console I bought retail was the Sega Genesis. That was a lot of saving up for a six-year-old at the time. I was given my dad's Mattel Football handheld as my first portable game machine. I purchased a Sega Nomad around 1998 when I was able to fly with my parents to a company meeting in Hawaii (sooo... many.... batteries). I didn't get an NES until after the N64 came out and people started dumping their older consoles at garage sales and such. Purchased my first retail computer in 2001 (a Fujitsu laptop) and my first arcade machine in 2004 (Omega Race). My second arcade machine (Asteroids Deluxe) was picked up at an auction in 2005.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
Shooting Gallery for the Sega Master System. I think I'm still addicted to that. Outside of that, it was Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis.
-What was your first favorite game?
See above. I also played a lot of Bomber Raid, Alien Syndrome and Astro Warrior on the SMS and Sonic 3 on the Genesis.

-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
The Super Nintendo, of course!
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
The first console I owned was the black GameCube.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
The game was A Link To The Past. Fun fact : When I said "played" the game, I meant to constantly go and quit a big fairy's cavern in the dark world and saying like a baby "Yéé j'ai gagné" (If you don't speak french, the translation is "Yay I won").
-What was your first favorite game?
A Link To The Past, it's also still my favorite game to this day.

A pong console, I believe it was one of the Coleco ones. Also played in the arcades at the time, some of the late 70's games like Space Invaders and Speak and Rescue. (Anyone remember that one?)
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
First console was Atari 2600 - first and best console I've ever owned
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
Space Invaders
-What was your first favorite game?
Probably Galaxian.
-Etc.

-How old were you when you started gaming?
Six or seven. I'm not too sure. :-\
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
NES was my first time. My cousins owned one with Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt. My younger brother had a friend with an older brother who had one too.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
An NES. We were pretty poor then and my dad actually traded a compound bow to a pawn shop to get ours. I feel kinda bad about that now that I think about it.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
Double Dragon. I think that may have been because I got bullied a lot when I was younger and the thought of beating the snot out of people just appealed more to me at the time. I had played Super Mario Bros. but couldn't get into it.
-What was your first favorite game?
Contrary to the above, that would be Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. My dad got it and a few other games with the NES he picked up. My brother and I fought over this game. We would have shouting matches in the car after school on who called it first when we got home. Which eventually led my brother to destroying the game. :'(

-How old were you when you started gaming? 4-5 yo
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC? My older cousin was going away to college and gave me her NES and an early 90s Mac. At about the same time I started going to a local arcade. So I guess I started everything at once!
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned? NES, Macintosh LC II
-What was the game that initially drew you in? Bubble Bobble (dedicated arcade cabinet)
-What was your first favorite game? I used to play with my father a lot. His favorite was SMB2 because of the character selection. I think my first favorite game was the Bubble Bobble arcade machine. I remember entering the building and just sprinting to the thing and hopping up on a stool so I could reach the controls. I enjoyed the characters on the marquee and on screen; not to mention the music. To this day every time I play the NES version I have to plug in my NES Advantage. <3

How old were you when you started gaming?
I don't remember. I think I was younger than 10. My memory is fuzzy back that far.
What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC? My Uncle owned an Atari 2600. I saw it but wasn't allowed to play it because they were afraid I might break it.
At some point my Uncle got an NES (which I could watch but not play) and gave us his Atari. Me and my three sisters played the crap out of Asteriods, Pac Man, Missle Command, Phoenix, Pitfall, Yars Revenge, and Haunted House. I still have the console and games to this day.
What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned? Me personally? It was a PC. I got tired of my Dad limiting my time on the family computer (a Cyrix 486 DX/2). So I built my own from parts I bought off of folks on the different BBS's I was a member of. With their help I managed to cobble together an Intel 486 DX/4 100 with a 2mb Vesa Local Bus video card.
Hell yeah. Ran Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and One Must Fall like a friggin champ.
It also helped that I'd tuned every BIOS setting, killed every non-essential TSR, and ran Memmaker and all that.
I would play DN3D all day with one of my friends from high school. He'd get pissed because his Cyrix 166+ ran all choppy so I would frag the piss out of him.
I got a dose of my own medicine though when I played against another friend who owned a Pentium Pro 233.
What was the game that initially drew you in? That's a tough one... I can't really remember. Super Mario Bros. had me pining for an NES. Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage had me wanting a Sega Genesis. My NES wishes were granted after about a year. The Sega Genesis wish remained unfulfilled until just last year when my wife inherited her Grandfathers rental shop Sega Genesis and game collection.
What was your first favorite game? That's a tough one. If there was a gun to my head right now I'd have to say Blaster Master for the NES.
But I remember playing Yar's Revenge and Journey Escape for the Atari 2600 for HOURS!
Etc. Got back into my old school gaming last year. Had plans to launch a web series. Scripted out the first season restored my old consoles and started beefing up my collection. The web series project has stalled due to time (my current job is like a time swallowing black hole) and equipment issues (I need to get a solid video capture device).

I started gaming somewhere around 1985, thanks to a neighbor friend down the street whose dad had a Commodore 64. He didn't have a ton of games, but I remember us putting in a fair bit of time playing stuff like Jump Man and Archon. It being the 80s, we also started going to arcades quite a bit, though most of what was around at that time consisted of old Atari stuff.
The first system I actually owned was the NES though, which thankfully also included a subscription to Nintendo Power, and introduced me to Dragon Warrior, which is probably the first game I ever became really, truly obsessed with. The SNES followed not long after, and that system (along with local arcades) really cemented my love of gaming for good. Final Fantasy II (4) and III (6), Super Metroid, Super Empire Strikes Back, Donkey Kong Country, Chrono Trigger, Street Fighter II Turbo... it was really an incredible time to be a gamer.
Around 1992, while driving home from some get-together or other, my Mom and I started needling my dad to stop in at this store off the highway so we could "just look" at the computers. 25 minutes later, we were headed home with a Micron 486SX 25Mhz and a copy of Star Trek: 25th Anniversary.
Things kind of broke down for me in the mid 90s, though. I'd been a die-hard Nintendo fan, but absolutely hated everything about the N64, so I largely stopped console gaming. Being a cash-strapped teen, I couldn't really buy more games for the NES or SNES, the local video stores gradually stopped carrying them, and being a teenager in need of cash, I sold all of the NES stuff and all but two of my SNES games. I do still have the old SNES though, along with DKC and Super Metroid, and almost everything else I had I thankfully do have on another system now.
Anyway, Nintendo had pretty much alienated me from console gaming entirely, so I dove into PC gaming exclusively, until a friend casually mentioned Final Fantasy 7 and started showing off his PlayStation, which just totally blew me away at the time. The timing couldn't have been better too, because I'd just gotten my first real job as a clerk at Blockbuster Video :)

I started when I was 11 years old. In June of that year, I managed to end up with pneumonia and spent two weeks in a hospital for that. The hospital had two NES consoles on TV carts. I spent every day with those consoles, except for one, when I guess I just forgot about them and watched TV. Maybe I had visitors.
After I got out, I had to have an NES. I received an allowance of $7 per week (or something) at the time, and forced myself to save as much of that as possible (while feeding a baseball card habit) until, with some birthday and holiday money, I was able to buy my own NES Action Set, complete with the light gun, two controllers, Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. My mom thought Paperboy was a great game while I was in the hospital, and got it for my brother and I to share on my NES.
The next games we got were Rolling Thunder (unlicensed), Ironsword: Wizards and Warriors II, and The Legend of Zelda--which was purchased by chance because it was $20 new. The original Zelda was the first game I ever finished.

What are your gaming origins?
-How old were you when you started gaming?
I was in junior high. My mom brought home an Atari 2600 from a garage sale and was bringing home dozens of games every weekend. Once the NES came out in 85, I fell in love. I used to rent games every weekend with a buddy who lived 3 houses down and we would slaughter the games all night. Thats how I got the job being a game counselor at the local rental store. In 88 or 89, I got an SMS for Christmas (my mom absolutely refused to get me an NES but the SMS was cool. I actually am happy that she went that way cause it opened me up to the superior 8 bit system) then the next year, I did the 1990 NWC. I won the first day and got the invite to return the second day for the finals but I lost that day. It was then that I was asked to be a Nintendo game play counselor. I was going to go to school in Japan for gaming and then work at the Nintendo HQ in Redmond Washington but my parents werent willing to let me go. To this day, I wonder what would have happened if I started working for Nintendo in 1990.
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
It was a toss up between arcade and console. When at home, it was of course was the consoles but I used to spend countless hours at the arcade. I eventually worked at 2 different arcades plus I was the arcade repair guy at a place like Celebration station. Handheld wise I did beta testing on the original Game Boy. PC gaming was only Everquest for me but I put 12 years into that and was the #1 rated bard in the world for over a year.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
I already touched on this but its SMS/Emachine/Game Boy.
-What was the game that initially drew you in?
Hmmm. I think it was officially over the first time I saw Zelda. I can still remember the commercials.
-What was your first favorite game?
I would have to go with Black Tiger. I think I went almost 2 years in junior high without eating lunch cause I spent all my money on that game.

-How old were you when you started gaming?
Somewhere around 4 years old.
-What did you start on? On a console? In the arcade? On a handheld? Or on a PC?
First game I played was a Tomy handheld called Caveman. Had a few other tabletop (handheld) games that I can't find details on.
-What was the first console/PC/handheld you owned?
First game that I actively sought and purchased myself without any outside influence was Q-Bert for 2600. The game was brutally hard for my age, but I loved it all the same.
-What was your first favorite game?
The first game that consumed my life (where every waking hour was spent thinking about it) was Super Mario Bros 2. Until I saw the ending I could think and do nothing else.
