My wife told me the other day that ebay sent us a message apologizing for recent downtime along with a $15 coupon code that expires Sept 24th.
Check your ebay messages and if you see a message like this it's legit!
I used it last night to buy Metroid Fusion with manual! (Cost me $5 after the coupon!).
:)

I got a message about the downtime, but no coupon code a few days back. Is it a new e-mail they're sending out to every ebay member?
-
I got the message but no $15 coupon... damn.
-
... what downtime? ???
-
It hasn't been as far as I know. I never even got an message/email stating it was going to be.
-
I got the email! The coupon code isn't special, but I think it's for target email accounts only (so only those of us who got the email/coupon can redeem the code). Y'all are welcome to try it, but it won't work if you weren't one of the targeted accts.
Here's the text:
Subject:
A coupon for you, with our apology
Dear ___,
For a time on Wednesday, September 3, some users experienced issues when visiting eBay. We acted quickly when the disruption began shortly before 10:00 AM PDT, and the issue was fixed for most users within two hours.
Please know that we are continuing to work hard to build additional safeguards into the maintenance process to prevent future incidents.
Our top priority is to deliver an excellent experience to our buyers and sellers 365 days a year and we deeply regret that we didn't in this instance. With our apology for that, most especially for any inconvenience or frustration you may have experienced as a result of sellers cancelling listings in response to the outages, we'd like to offer you a Coupon toward your next purchase on eBay.
As always, we value your membership in the eBay community—and we thank you.
Sincerely,
Steve Boehm

I have been on there a ton the past few months and my wife sells stuff on there all the time.

I was having issues Wednesday, it kept crashing on me and closing Firefox. Now I see why.

Hah I was probably on eBay that day looking for game manuals or something. The usual :P

Some users experienced down time. My account was down for two days! I'm selling a bunch of stuff so it kind of sucked.
I never got any coupon however.

I wonder if anyone can use that code?

Nope, I tried it( didn't recieve the code) and it doesn't work. So you're out of luck for that. I wonder if the target emails are for members with high activity on the site or something similar.

Hm, I assumed they maybe just checked to see who was logged in on that day around the time the issues happened...? I don't use eBay that often - I just search for stuff for pricing references/possible deals.

Bloody hell. ;_;
I really could've used that coupon.
