Four Ways to Enjoy the New Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Demo
To make the wait for the launch of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS on Oct. 3 easier, Nintendo is giving fans four different ways to experience a demo version of the game.
Today, Club Nintendo members who have achieved Platinum status between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014, have registered Nintendo 3DS hardware or software, and have opted in to receive emails from Club Nintendo will receive an email containing four download codes for the demo.
Nintendo encourages recipients of the Club Nintendo demo to share the three extra codes with friends who also own Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS systems. Together they can play along through local wireless multiplayer, even if those three friends aren’t Club Nintendo members. The Club Nintendo demo of the game features an unlimited play count, five playable characters (Mario, Link, Pikachu, Villager and Mega Man), one stage (Battlefield) and the ability to compete in local multiplayer matches with fellow Nintendo 3DS owners who have downloaded the demo to their systems. The Club Nintendo demo codes must be redeemed before Sept. 19.
All Nintendo 3DS owners can download a free demo for the all-star fighting game from the Nintendo eShop starting on Sept. 19. This demo includes the same content and features as the Club Nintendo demo that select members will receive one week earlier, and can be opened from the Nintendo 3DS Home Menu a maximum of 30 times. A Nintendo Network ID is required to download either the Club Nintendo or Nintendo eShop demo.
Starting on Sept. 18, select retail locations will feature in-store kiosks with the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS demo for everyone to enjoy.
For more information about Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, visit http://www.smashbros.com/us/.

I'm still waiting for a friend to answer if he wants one of my codes, but if he doesn't need it I'll have one spare, if anyone is interested. I can't guarantee you'll have it, but it's a possibility :P
All redeemed!

Anyone know how to verify if you have opted-in to get emails? Club Nintendo's website is more annoying than usual today, so I can't check.

I'm asking for the community's opinion: do you think it could be relevant to add the Special Edition Demo to the database? It's kind of like demo station cartridges, but downloadable. I know I'm happy about the exclusivity of the thing and I will keep it on my system, even if it takes 1000 blocks, because it's special. What do you all think? ???

Seeing that apparently people are selling the codes on Ebay, I'd probably say it would be fitting to add to the database since it is a unique version of the demo lol

Well, I created an entry. Forgot to input the date at first, but I already submit an edit for it. Also sent a description edit because I was too quick the first time, I blame alcohol and sleepiness. ::)
http://vgcollect.com/item/68306
I took the best picture I could find, there isn't any official image yet so I took the one on hover of the demo, since that's usually what the icon turns out to be anyway.

My overall opinion for this game is a bit disappointing. I have played Melee & Brawl at competitive levels. Base on the 3DS demo: 1) Extremely floaty (Expecting the same from WiiU) - it might change with certain character due to their weight but still very floaty. 2) Awkward Button placement 3) Bad on D-pad (Rubber Fell) 4) DI is way too easy in this game. 5) Lack of a Gamecube controller

I can agree with a majority of these points, although its amazing that the rubber analog came off so easy from your 3ds. Is DI directional imput?

I'm just trying to unerstand some points, not to bash or anything:
1)Did you play previous games recently? I have been playing Brawl a lot recently and I don't feel like it's floaty. 2) This one will indeed vary from person to person depending on hand size and preferences. Seeing as you have a small 3DS, you may want to try it on an XL for more fun. 3) I haven't had any problem, but that sucks :o 4) Did you play with three lvl9 AIs? 5) Lol :P

I have played both melee and brawl just yesterday. Sm4sh is just as floaty as brawl.
The size of my ds is not going help any thing related to my button placement.
I smashed too hard
Regardless of how many cpu, di is a lot easier here.
Overall im disappointed by sm4sh but it still fun because its a new game.

What do you mean by di? At first I thought it was a typo for AI, but since you said it twice I guess it wasn't haha. I don't know what di means, sorry.
I'm confused as to why you don't like the button placement, did you not like it in other games too? I found it easy to grasp controls because they are positioned in a pretty similar way to the gamecube controller. Also, I hate the n64 version compared to the others, if that helps understanding my position :)

DI or Directional Input is an advanced technique that is used by mostly competitive players that helps slow your momentum towards one direction by pressing the opposite direction on your dpad/analogue stick. For example an attack sends you flaying off the stage to the right, by pressing holding the analogue stick to the left asap it will prevent you from flying as far as you would to the right had you not used DI. Hopefully that makes sense.

It mostly because I play hours and hours of ssb melee & brawl that my muscle is accustomed to the position of the GC controller. Nintendo did a amazing job with the GC button placement. I dont really think the DS button placement is the same as GC (placement as in how far and spread out the buttons were).

Alright, now I fully understand why it was pretty easy to recover from those enemy attacks compared to some of the other games in the series. Also, the original 3ds button placement seems pretty cramped for those with big hands(me), so a 3ds xl from what I've seen will help you execute attacks better without interference from other buttons.

Oh, I see. Very well explained, don't worry :P Please disregard my previous comment about AI then haha. And I noticed too that it was easier to recover, though I kinda like how they did it. When you go flying, you really fly into the "wall", so you have to place a good KO.

Yes Yes I know this exist but it not going to be released due to fact how complicated the mod is. He made it with using the capture card board for 3DS. 3DS capture cards are already very expensive and only currently exist on the original 3DS.

Actually, he says he repurposed an old board and would sell the board for cheap IF he ever decides to sell it. Biggest problem would be the install (which he wouldn't do because it's not worth the time).

Yes, That ^ I must mistaken the capture card for somewhere else. Not worth the trouble to install this mod unless you are capable in doing it.

The console version is defenitely going to be better in gameplay and a absolute slaughter in visuals. Music should be the same in both, although maybe there will be more music for the wii u version.

It would be great if Nintendo somehow made an official peripheral for the 3DS to use GameCube controllers. Then I can finally stop worrying about breaking my circle pad from playing too vigorously.

That would be interesting, to say the least. I know alot of people who have been worried about breaking their pads because they've been doing smashes too hard. I wonder how they would be able to connect the controller using the same process since it seems that the controller connects to a wire that goes into the 3ds port used for charging the system. Anyway, it seems like something Nintendo will probably pass on and that this guy will work on peoples systems for money given the time and demand.
