So, Retro City Rampage DX will be seeing a very limited edition physical release (2000 units) for the PS4. It's only $25 and comes with a digital soundtrack and a few other digital bonuses in addition to the game itself. As far as I know, this is the only physical release for the game so far on any system and it may very well continue to be the only physical edition.

Edit: Looks like it's all gone now.

Noo! Why is physical disappearing!!

Noo! Why is physical disappearing!!
Well. physical releases are pretty expensive for most small studios to do if you consider all of the processes needed to get the game to the customer, whereas going to mostly digital can help companies avoid the costs, while being able to make a profit off a game that doesn't cost too much. I still think this is pretty cool that they are doing a physical release, considering how most small companies can't afford to make a physical version of the game, and the price is pretty reasonable for what you get.

Hehe, I was just coming here to post this - I've been behind today. :P Anyway, got my preorder in! $29 shipped, not bad especially since that includes the soundtrack (digital download, but still...).

DARN! I forgot to pre order.

I have this for the PS3. Bummed I missed my chance. :P This is why I stopped paying attention to homebrews. By the time I'd learn about them no more copies for sale.
-
My game tracks as to arriving here tomorrow. :)
-
Sucks. I didn't have a PS4 when this was available. I didn't have any intention of having one. Funny how things change. :-\
-
Where do we track the game? Was there another email or at there website?
-
It was in my shipping notice email.
-
Weird I didnt get one. When did you get your ship notification.

The dev of this game just made a big post on Nintendo age about this game about the legitimacy of this game in the PS4 library. :) Glad I picked up a copy when I did.

I didn't even know this was a debate. :o
Glad we don't get quite that anal around here. I mean, we're picky no doubt, but...wow. :P

There are lots of old school collectors at various forums who look down on us digital collectors / players and don't think our games "count" because they're not physical.
Yes, it's dumb, but whatever. You can't change the way people think. :p

I get digital stuff when it's digital only but I want to play it. Generally speaking I don't "collect" digital stuff since all the DRM makes it "leased" software at best.
If I want it for the long haul and physical copy is an option I generally go that route.
But no question digital games like this and Scott Pilgrim vs the World are legit games. They just have a shorter life expectancy than a physical copy.

Oh I agree, but that's not even what they're debating - they're talking about whether or not the physical pressed copy of RCR DX that was up for order counts as a "real" PS4 game. Which is just...weird. :o

Ah... Yeah, that I could actually see the point.
They make a few token copies and toss it out there but don't do anything even remotely close to a full print run.
For the 5 people that nabbed a copy it's real enough. For the rest of us though it's vapor/scalper-ware
