Title: The difference between Description and Box Text
Post by: scott on February 25, 2011, 03:42:31 pm
Just a heads up guys, cause I noticed that some of the box text that has been entered on a few games isn't the actual box text.

The Box Text is the synopses that is on the back of the game packaging. This should be written into this field, and no other notes, or descriptions.

The Description should be notes about the games packaging variants/ pack ins/ collector's edition details.

Here is an example (http://vgcollect.com/item/6094)

This should be in the style guide

I know this is an old thread but this seemed like an appropriate place to ask and it may remind people what the description field is for in case they don't read the style guide. I noticed a few of these incorrect descriptions this morning and am wondering how do these get fixed? Do we just submit an edit with a blank description field?

Yup and then we'll approve it.

The box text should probably be -above- the description then. Otherwise we'll have stuff like this:

... where the description is "N/A" and that kinda makes things look weird, eh?

I can't remember, but I think the Box text is above the description text field in the submission form and edit form, but when it goes to the item page it flips them.
