What's the biggest or most awkward thing for you to store?
For me, I'd say it's all my Rock Band stuff.

All. The answer is all. I'm in a 2-bedroom apartment, and me and my wife have simply out-grown it. There is stuff cluttered EVERYWHERE! We got a home loan approved, and then my wife got pregnant. So first we're gonna see how this baby thing affects our budget, then we'll rethink the house idea.

Rock Band/Guitar Hero stuff is abit unhandy to store, consoles are definitely a problem as I don't have space to display them in front of the TV or on a shelf, so they just sit in a closet. All the extra stuff for consoles too. I have some plastic drawers now for most of it, but still takes up a good amount of space. And then pretty much anything that is a bigger box than the usual game sizes. Limited editions, bundles of things. I don't even have a large collection, but I also don't have a lot of space lol

Granted I don't have a huge collection but my issue is space. My entire collection is in my bedroom. The most awkward thing would be my boxed Famicom Gun (http://vgcollect.com/item/52608) and Lefty RX (GT Sport) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsvMfeRpTKc). Both boxes are very old and fragile so I placed them inside of other boxes with bubble wrap. So there's just two good sizes boxes just floating around my room.
The other thing is a loose holster for the Famicom gun. It doesn't stand up on it's own. It doesn't lay flat. I don't have a place to put it. Maybe I'll just wear it?

I'm going to echo the sentiment of "everything" since I'm all cooped up in a single small room right now. I will be house hunting at the beginning of the year and hopefully find something soon.... Rock Band stuff is a pain in the ass but I can't bring myself to getting rid of any of it.

Everything, i live in a duplex, and everything has to stay in my bedroom, which isnt very big.

Anything with a special controller. Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Fishing, that stupid Baby Sitting Mama game I bought.
I also have a tough time with Collectors Edition stuff. I don't want to destroy the box, but what do I do with it? It takes up so much room.
Skylanders, Disney Infinity, these damn Amiibo. They devoured an entire book case.

Probably the collectors edition and big box games. They just get placed where they fit. No particular order. Kinda throws off the alphabetical system
All my dupes are in storage cabinets out of site.

I'm going to assume store = display, or at least it does for my answer. ;) The Rock Band stuff is bulky, but I don't display it so it's just tucked away in a closet - no problem. But to DISPLAY...since I'm running out of space in my small game room, it would have to be the big CE's - I mean the BIG ones, like Batman: Arkham Origins, Killzone 3 CE and the Wolfenstein: The New Order CE. Also, I'm having trouble right now finding a good place to display the Heartless plush that came with the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 CE set. :-\

Rock band sure takes lot of space and is awkward wherever I put the instruments... Skylanders are something to store too, I don't want to break them but I want to optimize space at the same time :-\ And for those, it's not just the figurines either; it's also the box they come in. These don't fit in any shelf whatsoever, at least not for display purposes.

For me, its those amiibo's and collector's editions, the boxes just take up a lot of space. My shelf space in my game room has already gotten filled up, and I'm storing extra stuff in my bedroom and brother's bedroom, so I'm hoping to get more shelves at some point to display the stuff without angering my family. I also hate how my hooked up consoles are stored, because the cabinet that holds them is way too small and holds enough space for 4 at the moment, so I'm gonna have to upgrade that soon as well.

I have a couple of closets... and a shower... and a bathroom... full of boxes with physical CDs, DVDs and games though. @_@
(The bathroom and shower haven't been in use for close to 7 years.)

Same, except my magazines are digital now.
Definitely need to sell some items, especially ones in my Sell List, if I want more space.

My N64 games look ghetto because of this. I couldn't stand looking into my pull-out drawer and having to lift each N64 game individually. So I made cheap-labels out of duct-tape and a sharpie.

Easy fix for that. I keep all my Game Boy games in 6-pocket trading card pages in a binder (the long card plastics).

The most awkward thing I deal with is posters since I buy a decent amount of posters and wall scrolls on ebay and refuse to fold them so I have tons just tossed around and they are a pain no matter where I put em.

You can buy poster tubes to roll them and store them in. Some local comic shops sell them. Or there's always eBay.

I have mine in 9 card sleeves. You can fit more in a binder that way.

To me, it is oversized LE game boxes. I only have so much display room, so the rest of these bulky size disproportionate things get stuffed where ever they might fit. This is why is try to avoid LE versions. They're too disruptive to flow of standard editions, and I don't have much room to display them elsewhere.

Since I don't have any GH/Rockband Stuff I'd have to say big box PC games. While we all cant be LGR and have a PC dedicated room those things are a huge pain in the ass to store. Can't have em nice on a shelf because each one is different sized and there really is no good way to display them.

Aside from the obvious (boxes like the Skyrim LE, the dragon that came w/ it - if one's not inclined to displaying it, and my 6 Giclees),

I used to live is a small apartment where my whole living room was my game room, but I out grew that 5 years ago. lol
So I finally made the leap and bought a house and now my finished basement houses my collection beautiful.
But I agree with most people the most annoying are magazines, strategy guides, guitar hero/rock band stuff & CE that have big boxes. I also have a NES Miracle Piano CIB that takes up space.
This is why i don't get into promo standie collecting, its the one thing i see other collectors having the hardest time storing or displaying.

They sell Magazine-size boxes (which are also made from acid-free cardboard, so the magazines won't wear down). That's what I use. Most comic shops sell them. They're just like the comic boxes, except in a size to better store magazines. If you don't have a comic shop in your town, you can order them directly from BCWsupplies.com.

Yes. And I'll add boxes in general. The console ones are the worst. I keep them because I like having the original boxes especially when I am moving and want to pack my stuff up safe...
But man do they take up A LOT of space.

The Steel Battalion controller, hands down. That thing just doesn't fit ANYWHERE. Pretty close second goes to the Ion Drum Rocker back from Rock Band. It's huge, but it gets used enough I forgive it.
Just about everything else can fit into big, stackable, plastic tote boxes in our storage room. Those two are the glaring exceptions to that.

I like how most of my collection is displayed or stored, but I am a bit annoyed by game boxes. My NES, SNES, Gameboy (and color and advance), N64, etc game collections take up twice the amount of room because I have the cartridges in the house and boxes of game boxes in the garage. Same thing with my consoles. Those boxes all together take up a ton of room.

Console boxes are definitely the most annoying thing to store. Limited edition games are in second place for most annoying for me to store. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Guitar Hero stuff is pretty annoying to store too.

I completely agree with this. Unless it has similar dimension to the standard release games on the system and can be stored on a shelf or it's a LE that is so cool I have to have it, I tend to avoid them because they are a pain to display and store. As much as I love my Tales of Xillia CE, the thing takes up a massive amount of display space.

For me I'd say it's the whole collection. :) My living room is basically a retro gaming museum now. Which can be cool when grown up company is over. But a nightmare when toddlers or less than respectful young-ins are running around.
