I believe that I started 2014 off, now I'll do the same for this year!
So, 3 days ago I went to Best Buy and got some PS3 games:
Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) ($15)
Tales Of Symphonia Chronicles (PS3) ($0 - Exchanged Killzone: Shadow Fall for it, as my parents got it for me without knowing that I had already had it.
Then I went to a local game store and used a gift card that my aunt and uncle got me for Christmas, along with my brother with whom I share my collection with, and ended getting these games:

Got my first ever homebrew from AtariAge recently, K.C. Munchkin for the 7800. The carts are very high quality.

Picked up a complete copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance ($60), so I finally have this awesome game in my collection and was No.2 on my wishlist.
Also got a Limited Edition Pokemon XD Gamecube Console for $15.
Traded a game to a friend and got Zone of the Enders 1 for PS2.

Random grab today was a PS1 game called "Monsters, Inc: Scream Team". Sealed, though not the best condition. For only 35 cents! No clue why, but there was no price tag on it at the Salvation Army and then she just stated typing in stuff, maybe a sale that day and got it for practically nothing lol Probably a crap game, but hey! Sealed! lol

I beat this game 100% around 3 days ago. It's a good platformer, but extremely short and pretty easy.

I've wanted a Star Fox 2 repro for a while. Would love to see how much of the game was carried over to Star Fox 64.
I got a good deal on it from someone on Atari Age. He said it was made by another AA member.

Got Dream Trigger 3D for the 3DS for $7. Also took advantage of a 20% of for your birthdaycoupon and the Calling reprint for about $25. And I got a pretty awesome batman figure styled after the NES game.

FINALLY found a working, cheap Halo Edition XBOX today! Also found a PS2 game I've been looking for years for, and have literally never seen in person until today. As the price tag says, only paid $2 for it. Then finally, put some holiday gift cards to use and got Raiden IV, Drakenguard 3, Toad, and NES Remix for free.

^ Raiden IV is a great shoot-em up. Raiden Fighters Aces is even better, if you don't already have that one. It collects all the Raiden Jet games.

So I got a CIB 2600 today, spotted it at an Antique store. Has everything, including the manual, some games, and an Atari branded leather wrapped cart folder with more games, cost me $45. This particular unit was originally purchased at Montgomery Wards for $139.99. I like 2600, even if the games can't hold my attention long, it's a console that I'll admit I like collecting for just to collect and it's affordable to do so. I think it's high time I pull out my stash and VG Collect my 2600 games.

Also managed to pick up a few childhood favorites today as well. It feels good when you can just go out on the town and find nice stuff. It's really hard to manage these days, depending on where you live.

No picture. But my Metroid Prime: Zero Mission arrived yesterday. Popped it in to test the battery and ended up playing it for 3 hours. Man what a great game!
YEAH! Funny enough that was the first Metroid game I played all the way through back when it was new. I remember it helped pump me up to buy Metroid Prime 2 which came out a later that year. Retrospectively I think it was too similar to the original game but that's all I need to be! -Just with updated controls and features. Really one of the best.

after watching a fellow game collector's new year's resolution on getting a complete Dreamcast collection, I figured I'd join him on his Dreamquest and finish my collection as well. So first I hit my local stores and found only a couple titles, then hit ebay and found many make offers and tried my luck getting some deals. and out of the 30 offers i sent out about 10 accepted. also made an offer on a Saturn game i've been watching for and got a deal. :D

You got some really nice finds, especially that Bangai-0 there. Both bangai-o and bangai-o spirits are awesome games, and have tons of replayability, so I hope you enjoy it and the rest of your finds. Mr. Driller's a pretty cool puzzle game, and Princess Crown is a interesting action rpg.

I played Bangai-O and it is a fun shooter, my only issue I didn't like is the controls. the D-Pad moves the mech while the analog stick shoots 360 around you. I can use the A button but i have to stop to change its direction. If the stick and D-Pad weren't next to each other this wouldn't have been an issue. lol
Mr. Driller I played but I kinda already played this game before on PS1.
Illbleed I thought was a unique Survival Horror, fun to figure out the traps, voice acting is so bad it's funny.
Princess Crown I got the most fun from. It almost feels like a beat em up game RPG.

Had one of the most epic, incredible finds of my collecting life yesterday. I travelled to a town about an hour away from me that has the best game store in the entire state as far as I'm concerned. Excellent prices, excellent selection, everything you'd want in a game store pretty much. I usually head down there three times a year, and always come home with some good stuff, but nothing could prepare me for what they had during my visit yesterday.
I went to their display case where they keep all their rarer games and spied a ton of PS1 games I was after, all for very good prices! While browsing the store some more I found everything else, also relatively low in price. While I did spend a lot on my trip, I paid about 40% less than what I would have paid for all of this stuff on Ebay, so definitely not complaining! Most of all I obtained my great white buffalo, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne for a price that rivals its loose price on Ebay. It is in like new condition which makes the deal even better :)
The final picture are some hookups from a good friend and local collector in the area who I met up with later that day. He gave me something else really awesome as well, but I'll have to post it later after I've made room for it. Overall, it was one of, if not the best trip I've had to this town, and just an awesome day overall :D

Been awhile since I've gone to the game store, let alone done much collecting, but I had some trades to bring up and a few perler beads to sell, so I popped down and picked up just a couple things. This year I'm focusing on my Zelda collection to try and complete it, really in need of most of the boxed handheld games, but I came away with just the Zelda hardback strategy guide for Phantom Hourglass to go with my Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword ones.
Then I picked up Resident Evil Dead Aim which I've been wanting for awhile, one of those games I remember liking as a kid, but don't remember if it's any good, but I got a Time Crisis bundle to prepare myself for getting the game lol
Then I'm also kinda starting on my N64 game collecting just a bit, getting just the boxed version, no manual, for Donkey Kong 64. Gonna try for the Banjo-Kazooies next, and then probably Super Mario 64.
And then on the way home, I grabbed a Wario figure from Target. First I actually seen the figure in the stores around here, though I believe it isn't just released.

I hadn't seen it anywhere till today when there was like 3 or 4 there. Usually I keep an eye out for Link since he's so rare which helps to get them out to folks in my area, but was happily surprised to see Wario there cause I've been wanting a proper Wario figure for abit.

Caught Gamestop slipping today. Found The Last Story (Wii) New for $29.99. So happy I decided to stop in there today, I usually drive right by on my collection route when I go and I never stop, luckily today I did! :D

It's a bit like Mario Party but not quite as good, it's mini-games with board game style progression. It has a certain charm, and a decent sense of humor. Obviously better played with company, if you have friends over who like some mindless fun. I'd say for $3, if it piques your interest, yeah it's worth a pick up.

I asked one of the guys that knows me pretty well if they had one. He hesitated & then said "I wouldn't do this for anybody else, but I have one at home that I'll bring you." I told him I didn't want to take his and he said that was alright, he didn't care. I had to remind him about it a couple of times, but he brought it and had never even opened it. I was very happy, that's one I had really wanted and almost bought for full price a time or two.

Got some cheap Xbox 360 games, got Tales of Xillia 2 in the mail (was only $20 when I bought it), and I got some cables in the mail for connecting my PSP to my TV. Too bad I don't have the first Tales of Xillia yet. :P

I've heard that game is pretty decent game since it seems similar to Pokemon Snap, but in Africa. It's just so hard to find, and it's one of the early ps3 exclusives I haven't found in any store yet and its probably the rarest NA PS3 game.

Tekken Tag Tournament is still one of the best PS2 games. Funny enough it was one of the first games released on the console :p

One is a fast-paced run-n-gun. And MK Trilogy is basically a mash-up of the first 3 games plus Ultimate MK3 into 1 game. Best of the original-style MK games, IMO.

Welcome to the Afrika club 8) It's a nice game, but the loading times... oh the loadings. You don't want to be saving all the time because it takes about 1 to 2 minutes, but you don't want to lose your work either. I always end up hesitating if I want to save haha.

the only thing that was really tedious was moving all the save data to a USB drive since you can only back it up one game at a time (or use PS+ for backing up) and then moving all that back on the hard drive

the only real annoyance I had was that the friend I bought mine off of had it set as his primary PS4 so I couldn't wipe the 500gb hard drive till he took care of that. I'm hoping to use that hard drive on my PS3

I was surprised I didn't get throttled especially since the last time I got throttled I remember downloading Sonic Generations on steam and 2 smaller games, the first time was when I built my computer and was downloading all the steam keyes I had which included Arkham City and Portal 2. And as I said to my friend it's BS that you can't use an external hard drive to back it all up. It also helps I only had 6 games I wanted to redownload

So I'm sticking to my "not buying any games until the end of Feb" thing, but I DID make an awesome trade last Friday. :D I've been kicking around getting rid of my Destiny Ghost Ed., because I enjoyed the game ok but wasn't crazy about it & didn't care for the end game stuff. I like to have CE's for games that I really like, and this one just didn't fit in that category. So I decided to take it to the guy at my local mom & pop shop & see what he would give me for it. He hadn't seen one before, and he's a really big Destiny fan AND a sucker for the CE stuff, so he wanted the set not to sell but for himself - so he gave me $190 store credit for it! I used that to pickup these 3 gems, and still have $35 of it left over. I am VERY happy with this deal, especially considering I gave somewhere around $100, maybe slightly less, for the Ghost Ed. ;)

You know, the first time I played Drakengard for PS2, I had a blast. I recently tried to go back to it a few months back and got bored with it, VERY quickly. Maybe the first time I played it I still had the wow-factor of my shiny new PS2 going on. But this time, it just seemed the entire game was very empty and bland looking outside of the wave of enemies.

I got my first NES game today, Xevious. I'm starting a bit late collecting for the console, I know. :P Hopefully I'll get some good deals every now and then, but I realize at this point I'm probably not going to get too many good deals. That is, unless the collecting fad goes away, prices drop, and we're only left with the dedicated collectors who were into collecting before it went a bit more mainstream.
I also got my Mario Bros 3DS Card Case from Club Nintendo in the mail today. I wonder what kind of rewards Club Nintendo will add before the service gets cancelled...

I was oddly curious at what it would be so he hit me up again today to give it to me. Apparently he had a pretty large sword collection that he was trying to get rid of and he gave me a full size gun-blade from FF VIII. :D Its pretty cool looking, I cant wait to hang it in my game room.

Really wasn't planning to, but ended up buying a game yesterday. Was meeting a friend at Gamestop, and while I was waiting I was browsing around. Found a complete copy of Fist of the North Star in excellent condition, and I've been looking for that one for a while.

Soul Blade, Soul Calibur 1, 3, 4, 5 and Broken Destiny. All complete & in great shape.
About 40 other games for the PS1. Various conditions, but all complete and working. Four of them are long box versions. Two PS2 DVD remotes. One is the original with the IR receiver and the remote itself has power and eject buttons. The other is for the slim PS2.
This year, I plan on putting together a complete set of the Final Fantasy games for PS1, PS2 and PS3 as well as all the Resident Evil games. Several other PS1 games that are all a bit on the expensive side, but I'll only buy complete games that don't look like they've had their asses kicked. LOL.

Super jealous of your Silent Hill collection. I've played them all (never completed Origins and above) but I found I own very few of them. Definitely need to get 1-4 at least.

Silent Hill 1-3 were fantastic. The series started taking a slide downhill from there. So happy to see Hideo Kojima working on the next installment. The P.T. demo they released was pure creepy and reminded me of those first three games.
The first four Resident Evil games were great (1-3 and Code: Veronica). I lost interest with 4 which is ironic since many people think it was the best or one of the best. Five was ok, but at this point the series became an over-the-shoulder action shooter. I never bothered with six.

For me I liked the motion controls of RE4 (wii) and RE5 (ps move).
I know I am in the minority. I bought RE4 on GameCube (still have it) played it for 10 minutes.
Bought it again on Wii. Couldn't put it down.
Played RE5 demo when it was first released. Set it down after 10 minutes. It's hard to go back to thumb sticks after the Wii controls.
Played the Gold Edition (using move) when it released free on PS Plus. Could not put it down.
I couldn't get into 6. Without the motion controls I have no interest.

So Im sure Ive mentioned that Im the game master at a local huge church. One of the class teachers stopped me last week and said he has something for me. I was oddly curious at what it would be so he hit me up again today to give it to me. Apparently he had a pretty large sword collection that he was trying to get rid of and he gave me a full size gun-blade from FF VIII. :D Its pretty cool looking, I cant wait to hang it in my game room.

Gamestop has marked Bandfuse for the PS3 down to $3 new, so I was around a semi-local store yesterday that had it & picked it up. Even comes w/ the cable to hook a guitar up to the PS3. Now maybe I'll come across a cheap guitar in a yard sale this year. :P

Slowly getting there to completing my collection. Mostly need certain boxed handheld ones, Link to the Past boxed, and Zelda 2 boxed. Gonna try to make this the year I complete at least the main line of games, as this wouldn't include Link's Crossbow Training, the Tingle Games, and any alternate versions of releases like if it was a collector's edition or a players choice version.

So heres a funny story. I was at my local ebgames with my younger brother and picked up Ocarina of Time for the 3ds while he pre ordered the new 3ds. As I was looking around I seen Cave Story 3D with the reflective slip cover. I remember hearing it was rare, but for some reason I doubted myself and thought that was for the DS and not the 3DS. So I didn't get it. I text abe and he told me it was rare and I should get it! At this point I was already home. I rushed back and picked it up hoping no one else got it! Sure enough it was still there.
Spent 39.99 on Ocarina of Time (Sealed)
And a HUGE 22.99 for Cave Story 3D.

Mail day! It seems like all of the mail I've been waiting for over the past month arrived today. Today I got a Super Famicom controller, Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (SNES), Star Soldier (NES) and a Japanese Super Game Boy. Unfortunately, I've just noticed that the start button on the SFC controller isn't working, and there's a small cut in the side of the wire for the controller. :-\ The damaged part of the wire wasn't showing in the pictures for its eBay listing either. >:(

I've been on a shmup binge lately that started when I picked up the NES Classics version of Xevious on the GBA over the summer. It's nice that a lot of the shmups on the NES are still pretty cheap.

For what it's worth, I loved it - thought it made a great handheld game too. Collected all swords in both storylines & saw the true ending before I could finally put it down, and I still wanted to play more. :) If you've played Odin Sphere, think that but with more of a focus on action.

How's that HDN Re;Birth2 LE? Do you think it's worth getting at some point even if I already have the standard edition? I hesitated on buying the LE for Re;Birth2 since I don't have the LE for Re;Birth1 and they're probably horribly overpriced on eBay by now. For some silly reason, I just wouldn't be happy without having the limited editions for both Re;Birth1 and 2 (and inevitably 3 when it gets released).

A very interesting day of hunting. Grabbed all of these for $5, with the exception of Grind Stormer which was actually free! The reason why is because a game store I go to occasionally could not get it to work so I asked if I could have it since they were going to throw it away. I've cleaned the crap out of the contacts, but it still won't boot. I plan on testing the contact voltage out and possibly changing out the capacitor to see if that does the trick. I guess these Genesis Tengen carts are notorious for failing.

HDN ReB 2 LE came in. Still waiting for my Tales of Zes. controller to come in.
How's that HDN Re;Birth2 LE? Do you think it's worth getting at some point even if I already have the standard edition? I hesitated on buying the LE for Re;Birth2 since I don't have the LE for Re;Birth1 and they're probably horribly overpriced on eBay by now. For some silly reason, I just wouldn't be happy without having the limited editions for both Re;Birth1 and 2 (and inevitably 3 when it gets released).
I gave up on Re;Birth 1 LE.
Its sort of worth it for the price of $57.99 atm, though it might be a stretch for some people, but later on when it doubles or increases a certain amount... uhh then its really up to preference at that point.

Me too. I think it's pretty likely that we'll get it, since Idea Factory International has done a good job of getting them all over here.

Swung by the local retro game store last night and someone had just traded in an absolute *mint* copy of Tatsonoko vs. Capcom. So I grabbed that plus two bad-but-I-wanted-them-anyway games, Duke Nukem Forever & Haze. :P Then swung by GS & used a $10 coupon to pickup Rune Factory for the PS3 - so that's another RPG down. Also got a few cheap DS games I had been looking for: Geometry Wars: Galaxies, A Witch's Tale & Space Invaders Extreme.

Nice, I've been after a copy of that for a while. I have the 2nd one but it's been confusingly difficult to find the first. I've been to every game store in my area including 3 EB Games and nary a copy.

Wife bought me Hyrule warriors for Valentine's day. Also woke up early and scored Rosalina and Sheik Amiibo. Line wasnt very long (4 people) but were only 4 of each figure so if I didnt go, I wouldnt have gotten one.

I know it's February now but I got Captain Toad Treasure Tracker for Wii U yesterday on the 31st!
