Have you ever bought a game because of the cover artwork or title intrigued you?
Recently I picked up

I've never heard of this game. The cover is just weird, and Martian Gothic Unification sounded too strange to pass up.
Any other blind purchases because of curiosity?

Yeah...probably the most egregious example would be X-Men by LJN for the NES. Loved X-Men comics and this looked straight out of them. What I got was a complete turd. Others include:
Apocalypse PS1
Cardinal Syn PS1
Wizards & Warriors NES

Pretty much an LJN game back in the day. Being that I was a comic-book and cartoon kid, anything with super-heroes interested me. So LJN had me targeted. So many disappointing games.

Yep. I bought this one:

Boy was I in for a big disappointment.
As a kid I absolutely loved the film and my favorite segment was the sorcerers apprentice. I wonder how many other people got roped into buying this one.

Project Overkill PS1 just based on the title alone
Skelton warriors for the PS1 and Saturn honestly I saw the cover and it reminded me of Army of Darkness

^ I don't know how such a small licensed title got away with being a 2D game on PS1 during that early era.
It's not a bad game, but it's not a good game either.

I pulled up LJN's games list on Wikipedia. Yeah...I think with the exception of Adamantium Rage which was ok, their entire catalog was to paraphrase the internet: teh-suk.

One day, I bought a PS1 game only published in Europe called "All Star Action" due to his cover.
In my opinion, this is the BEST VIDEO GAME COVER I EVER SAW ! ;D

Most games. lol
I don't read magazines or IGN, and never really did. I buy based on the name + artwork + screenshots on the back. That's the way it used to go and it's the way game chasing still go. 75% of the time it works every time. But really, I am pretty good a sensing a game that I will enjoy based on those things.

I've bought most of these because of their boxart, except for Henry Hatsworth. I haven't played any of these yet. :P

For the most part, I guess I'd agree. But I remember enjoying quite a few of their games growing up. Gotcha the Sport was probably the first I played from them, it was an amusing light gun game. Who Framed Roger Rabbit had some fun exploration gameplay that changed every time you played. Back to the Future Part II & III was a little shaky, but the puzzle screens when finding artifacts were great. True Lies on Super Nintendo was pretty good too.
But yeah... that Uncanny X-Men game was awful. Nightcrawler can run through walls and die instantly... :o

That entire game was full of fail.
