I am new to this site and was wondering if the earned badge system is still functioning. I found it to be an interesting concept and fun for the users (everybody likes earning badges!). I especially like the idea of having special badges awarded to those with unique items, rare items, complete collections, etc. However, I can also see how it could become a maintenance nightmare for the operators of the site. I apologize if this has been answered or discussed in other posts.

There are numerous bugs in the code that handles these badges which is why they are a bit...off right now. I'll be looking into it some more tonight and (hopefully) finally resolving things. We'll have some big announcements regarding some new badges soon.
