Yeah I was reading about it, for my money though, I have no idea how they're going to top Pikmin 3 without the new game being too "samey." Although I adored Pikmin 3, I really wish Nintendo was working on something else, I don't think we really need a Pikmin 4 right now, especially seeing as it's not one of Nintendo's more popular franchises. Either way, I'll probably get it day one but I don't really know why we needed a new Pikmin game so soon.
I've really been hoping for a new F-Zero or Metroid like everyone else, maybe even a new EarthBound compilation, all they have to do is take all three Mother games, "officially" translate Mother 3, (although it'd probably be inferior to the fan translation) slap them on a disk and I'd lap it up as I know a lot of others would too. It just seems like Nintendo is just taking the safe road right now with "new" games that were probably quickly and easily built with already existing assets like Mario Tennis, Hyrule Warriors 3D, Pikmin 4, Mario and Luigi Paper Jam and the list just could go on and on. It's like: "Oh we don't have anything new to show you, but here's some amiibo figures that you'll never get, and a few games you've sort of played before!"

Oh, I know I would buy the crap out of that. ;D
It's too bad that there isn't really that much information yet, so we could maybe see what will be done differently (if anything) from Pikmin 3

Yeah, it seems much too soon, and like you and all other Pikmin fans, I'll of course be buying it. But Pikmin is Miyamoto's pet project now, so it's not much of a surprise that he wants to keep pushing them out. Still strange considering the plethora of other games they could potentially make are not being worked on or unknown at best.
Everyone is clamoring for a new Metroid, at least outside of Japan. I know over there Metroid isn't as popular as most other Nintendo series. I'm not really a big fan of the Prime games but I'd even take that at this point. F-Zero would be great, but given that Miyamoto has said he doesn't know how to make a new one that isn't just the same game gives me little hope. And heck, we could use a Kirby game like Return to Dream Land, too. We could go on and on about games we want though, I guess.
Anyway, Pikmin 4: not a bad thing. Strange choice though. Maybe they have other unannounced games they've been working on like this, too. I'd imagine they do since they haven't announced any 2016 games other than Zelda and FExSMT.

You should play it, even if you think you won't like it give it a try. I absolutely loved it.

I seriously have Zero interest in any of those franchises...And re using assets isnt the worst thing if they can deliver fresh gameplay. Pikmin is one of the most underrated franchises Nintendo has, we had to wait 9 years for a sequel, im very glad we don't have to wait that long again. :')

It would be nice to see a reprint of Pikmin 3 before they release a new one.

Don't get me wrong, Pikmin 4 isn't a bad thing, I'm happy, but I could've have waited a bit more for it. It just comes off as lazy which was basically the whole point of the rant. Almost every "new" game they make is just piggybacking off of something that came out a year or two ago, and in this sense they don't seem to be innovating like they think they are.

I could see that happening in the future like they did with the Nintendo selects. I'd be really interested in a reprint of Smash Bros Wii U down the line with the DLC already on the disc.

So much this. As soon as I read the P4 news the first thing I thought was "And yet I still can't find P3 physically anywhere...".

My Wal-Mart had copies in January, that's when I bought mine but otherwise I haven't seen a physical copy of the game since early last year. The price skyrocketed during the holiday season as did Wii Sports Club.
