As soon as I heard they were reprinting this, I immediately ordered it on Amazon.

There are still folks trying to sell it for over $70 bucks on there too, haha.

I have a bid on one of the limited edition ones with the outer shell and a sealed soundtrack. But if that fails, Ill just buy it when it reprints.

Yeah, those copies will definitely be the ones that are the high in demand.  But at least with the reprints, more people will be able to (legitimately) purchase and play this unique game.

What's the gameplay like?

It's almost a traditional turn based RPG. Three character party on the right side of the screen with enemies on the left. The enemies are on a 3 x 3 grid. They can move on the grid and you have the ability to push them into each other which allows your character to do damage to more than one enemy at a time. Sounds a little weird but it works very well.

The story is based around decision making. You can go back and replay certain sections sections of the game (time travel) and make different decisions which will change your future (and those of others).

Honestly, it's a little difficult to describe. Definitely worth playing and definitely something unique.

Well, less than 24 hours on my bid. Sadly, I bid it up before I saw the reprint thing. My bid is pretty high but its at max right now so any bump will clear me from it. I just hate to give it up cause its a sealed copy of the limited edition with the box/soundtrack CD.

Thanks @darko, I think that I'll wait on this one and hope that I can find it for cheap one day. I've never been a fan of strategy RPGs and that's really what it sounds like.

Yeah, it probably sounds that way because of the grid system in battles. It's kind of difficult to describe but it's definitely NOT a strategy RPG. It's a turn-based JRPG with a tweaked battle system. I'd check out Youtube before you make your final decision.

The grid system sounds kinda like the Mega Man Battle Network games. Only without the ability to move yourself around.

@soera do you want to change the title of the thread so that everyone knows what it is about?

Same here. But mostly because I'm playing so many rpgs already. I think if I started this it would put the count up to 5?

That's crazy!  I can't keep that many storylines in check.  I'd love to go back to P3FES, though, despite having done PS3Portable also...  something about playing on the CRT... Now to get a hold of a CRT.

I have 23 inch CRT at the Rents house. Sadly I lack a space to put it at my place so I am playing it on my ps3 on my LCD. The only other CRT I have is a 13 inch I've had since I was 8ish... but still no shelf space. Ha

I just can't look at it on the HD tv through the PS2.  It looks ok, but I have such fond memories of how great it looked on a CRT TV.

That's the nice thing about the ps3 it kinda smooths out the edges and makes the game look slightly more pretty. Though I wouldn't mind having a crt hooked up for 8 & 16 bit gaming. And my Saturn.

On topic. I started up Radiant Historia last night and got through the tutorials. I can see that my DS time will be for RH rather than DQV...

During the time I had a PS3 in the house, I was annoyed because I didn't have the adapter for it to use PS2 saves... can't recall how it initially looked on that system.  Bah - another reason to look into getting a PS3!  Been watching gameplay videos of Journey and have been very tempted..

The ps3s that are BC have the ability to make virtual memory cards for both ps1 and 2. Though I want an adapter for grins.

Has anyone received their re-released copy and does the packaging look different than the original? I got a first print with the limited box and stuff but it wasnt cheap ... hope they dont make the re-released stuff look exactly the same and I wasted a fair share of cash.

As far as I know, my copy looks just like the images that are listed on the site already. I didn't look at the part number to see if there was a -1 or anything after it though. But as far as I can tell I think they are identical, except for the special box and soundtrack...

I think Darko got the re-release, you should compare them next time you get together.

They cover art is identical but they didn't release a LE. The box/soundtrack is why the LEs still have a nice price tag.
