i'm wondering - did nintendo pay homage to their masterpiece, the NA super nintendo, by making the gamecube purple? it matches the purple trim on the SNES and SNES controllers.
-
Perhaps, but the SNES was only purple in North America. I don't really know what thought process went into making the GameCube purple, but it worked.
-
sorry, thats what I meant by 'NA'.
i agree, it worked!
wasn't the gamecube orange or something like that in japan? does that have any connection to the ole' super family computer?

The Famicom was maroon and gold whereas the spice colored GameCube was bright orange so I don't really see the resemblance personally.

hmm ok. i have no idea, i've never seen a SFC in person. or the wild GC color
neat to think about, though!

There's also also silver and black GameCubes (not to mention the more collectible variants). So I don't think it was intended as a nod to the SNES, just a different color choice.
-
yeah definitely lots of colors in available.. but there could be a reason behind each color. I'm not saying there is, i'm just saying its not impossible.

i do agree, however..
