I haven't played the first SaGa Frontier, but I really like SaGa Frontier 2. Never finished it (naturally), but I just love the art style and branching storylines.

SaGa Frontier 2 is great. It's really difficult, though. It requires a certain play style in which you need to carefully explore everywhere as thoroughly as possible in order to always have enough resources to survive the next segments. As long as you don't rush through it and take your time, then you're in for a treat.

And as Lady D said, the art style is amazing.
