Title: Board game category
Post by: mrfoxhound on November 01, 2016, 12:49:28 pm
While I don't like the whole "Swag" thing, could we get a "Swag - Board game/cards" category? There are video game themed board games that I think is grounds enough to have it. I don't think it really belongs in "toys/novelties"

Most websites categorize board games as "toys"

I agree that we should just keep in the swag category. But maybe a sub-category for board games would be appropriate, like we have for movies and print media.

During the 80s, and early 90s there were a LOT of board games made. Plenty based on video games, too.

Toys/Games*
Target lists them as "Toys"
Walmart lists them under "Toys/Video Games"  so still "Toys"
ebay lists them under "Toys/Hobbies" which is closer to "Toys/Novelties" than "Toys/Games"
Gamestop lists them under "Collectibles" which is just something different altogether, but again, closer to "Toys/Novelties"

Explain to me again why we should follow what some stores do for categorizing rather than being a little more specific with this community site?

Currently, put these into Swag - Toys/Novelties

Category requests go into this thread:

This is my thought as well. I would think there's enough releases to justify a sub-category under Swag for just board games/table top games that's apart from Toys/Novelties.
