It just takes forever, that's how it's different. I didn't take nearly as long going from location to location in Skyrim or Oblivion. I'd get a quest, go straight to the map-point, and get down to slaying.
I'll be honest, I don't mind the weapons breaking. For the most part I think it adds a bit of strategy to the game and keeps me from just swinging aimlessly. Not to mention I'm also a big fire emblem fan and one of the big mechanics (until fates) was weapon durability.
I've really love how everything in the world works. Sneak into an enemy camp while they're sleeping attach an octo Balloon to a TNT barrel and run a few seconds later the balloon pops and the barrel explodes reducing their numbers, or takes care of all of them. I used the metal weapons to cheat a electrical puzzle. He'll throw metal equipment during a lightning storm near an enemy and the lightning will hit them. Hitting the ChuChu's with elemental weapons will change their drop from the usual jelly to the other colors (fire for red, ice for white, electric for yellow). And honestly with how open ended the game is you got so many people playing it and it seems like so many have a different story to tell
Is the game flawless... no, but damn it is think this might just be my new favorite game
The weapon system is really starting to annoy me, though. Durability, I get it. But everything breaks too damn easily. A weapon should be able to last through one battle, at least. Instead I go through like 3 weapons when attacking a group of orcs.
I spent so long going to shrines to up my health since many enemies were walloping me; only to find out that I just needed to do one more freaking quest in the main storyline to access the Fairy Fountain and increase my defense...I feel like a dope.
So what are the items like opal, topaz, and ancient parts used for? (Other than the parts you turn into the lab for upgrades)
Can you craft weapons and armor? If so, how?
I know that, but do I really need 90+ bokoblin horns? :)
Upgrading the Champion's Tunic after the first level is a pain in the ass. There are 3 spots that are fantastical to get the scales.
Getting those damn dragon scales are harder than hell. Even if you are by a dragon, they move so fast that it's harder than crap to get close enough to get into firing range. I've gotten one scale so far, and it's not even from the dragon I need the scale from for the Champion's Tunic upgrade.
So does the game try to scale difficulty to your character as you get stronger?
I'm wondering because I just went to fight one of the Hinnox's (giants) to get some Hinox Guts' for an armor upgrade. And literally as I'm going up to him, the game spawns one of those giant assassin's with the wind sword, and some of the skeleton monster things that come out at night showed up at the same freaking time! As if the giant isn't enough to deal with on it's own! Holy crap!
So I used a couple Giant Cores to make Ancient Bows and such earlier in the game.I know when I played last I got a Giant Core from a Guardian.
Unfortunately, there's not more Giant Cores in the game to be had. And I still have one final upgrade for my Ancient Armor Helmet as well as my Diamond Circlet that both require them.
That's a pile of shit.
I know that Guardians supposedly drop them. But the drop rate must be incredibly rare. I've gotten a few regular cores from them (and those are rare enough as it is), but I can't recall getting Giant Cores from them.
I beat this a couple of months back and really enjoyed the game. I found it odd that the hardest enemy i faced was the white lynel, or perhaps the flying guardians. I didn't realize until after it was over that there are two different endings. I guess I need to go back and beat all the quests. For some reason I thought if I uncovered all the memories it would be good.
I haven't picked up DLC 1, but will probably buy to get DLC 2 since it has some new story. It would be cool to have some sort of online feature added to the game for Switch. I enjoy Miiverse on Wii U and feel disconnected on the Switch.
You get the basic ending by just beating the game, doesn't matter about the memories. The true ending is if you have all the memories, beat the dungeons, and have the Master Sword. The true ending is basically just an extra few minutes added to the end that you probably got.
