Is it just a money making excuse extending the franchise ?  WW1 obviously is the genesis, WW2 arguably is the best, will WW3 be more of te same ?

Probably not. The next world war will be a nuclear war with catastrophic repercussions for everyone involved. North Korea to my knowledge is a barren wasteland with no spoils to be had. There is no long-term strategy of warfare there. Once the missiles start flying it's going to be quick and ugly and probably the end of us all as the US, Russia, and China all have nukes and poor relationships with one another.
