FOR MUSIC COLLECTORS A TOPIC CREATED JUST FOR THEM TO DISCOVER SOME NEW KIND OF ROCK MUSIC
I'd like to start a new series of music topics involving some of the older rock bands and also some of the newer ones also the Pop bands as well.
Does anyone remember MTV back in the 1980's 1990's and early 2000's.? 3 Doors Down used to come on MTV back in the year 2000 with thier song called krytonite off their "The Better Life" album. the original Music Video is no longer on the Internet only some man in his underwear holding a bird. It may have been stupid but the origional one is what got me hooked as a young teenager along with other bands like :D
GodSmack
Creed
Blink 182
Tool
Radiohead
Disturbed
my Favorite rock bands are from the 1990's 1980's 1970's and 1960's
Anyone ever listen to DOKKEN or FIREHOUSE, or SKID ROW, or BEATLES, BON JOVI, KISS, JOURNEY, HALL & OATES, SLAUGHTER, DAMN YANKEES, 38 SPECIAL, ALLMEN BROTHERS BAND, MOLLY HATCHET. LYNYRD SKYNYRD, ROLLING STONES, VAN HALEN, SAMMY HAGAR, MICHEAL JACKSON, THIN LIZZY, MICHAEL BOLTON, THE LITTLE RIVER BAND, FOGHAT, MEGA DETH, AIR SUPPLY, STYX, KANSAS, GEORGE MICHEAL, BRYAN ADAMS, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, TEARS FOR FEARS, LITA FORD, FIONA, BLONDIE, PAT BENETAR, JIMI HENDRIX, GUNS 'N' ROSES, WHITESNAKE, NAZARETH, HUMBLE PIE, JOHNNY WINTER, EDGAR WINTER, WHITE LION, TOTO, PINK FLOYD, SANTANA.
Make this thread for all your rock and pop band suggestions and I'll be back after I review my over 8000-9000 song collection thanks for tuning in :D

I remember watching MTV and MTV2 when they actually played music videos. Thinking about that, 3 Doors Down's Kryptonite was one of the first songs I've learned to play on my guitar! I'm with you on discovering rock genre around the millennium, before than I would listen to mainstream pop as kid.
Korn
Deadsy
Slipknot
Linkin Park
Papa Roach
Mushroomhead
Those were some of the early bands that lead me into the rock, than metal genre eventually. Can't say I listen to many artist of the 1960's below. As for bands a few of my favorites throughout the decades are:
QUEEN , LUNA SEA , X JAPAN , SEIKIMA-II , SEX MACHINEGUNS , 17DED , BEAT CRUSADERS , MUCC , GEMINI SYNDROME , VENTANA , DREDG , PLASTICZOOMS , PLACEBO , DIR EN GREY , THE CRÜXSHADOWS , CLAN OF XYMOX , THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE , A PERFECT CIRCLE , THE CURE , DEPECHE MODE , OBLIVION DUST , GARBAGE , SHE WANTS REVENGE , ZILCH , XTC

Once upon a time, I found this band called Metallica, and they're quite the hidden gem.
Here around where I Live near Rock City Detroit Michigan, Metallica was never hidden at all. In fact mostly all the 1990's and 2000's that is all my favorite radio station played at the time called 101.1 THE WRIF. yea Walmart sell all their albums at discount prices. My favorites include RIDE THE LIGHTNING. THE BLACK ALBUM, LOAD AND RELOAD. BUT, I am not a fan much of Master Of Puppets and Kill Em All. and the rest of them. Now Mega Deth is pretty much forgotten around here and pretty much all else metal bands of the 1980's and 1990's. :(
Anyone rememeber MOTLEY CRUE, TWISTED SISTER, GEORGE THOROGOOD, JEFF HEALY BAND, W.A.S.P, POSION, JAMES CHRISTIAN, JOHN MELONCAMP JOHN LENNON, KEEP EM COMMIN PEOPLE I LOVE MUSIC

I listen to just about everything. Too much out there to limit yourself. Just saw Iron Maiden. Got Lionel Richie/Mariah Carey coming up and Shakira not too far out.
I first heard of a band called Therapy? on MTV in the 90's. Nurse and Troublegum are my favorite albums from them. They have many variants on their b-sides too.
I bought a Charles Bradley CD after seeing him on an episode of Luke Cage. Man that guy can channel some James Brown!!
There was this commercial on MTV around the mid 90's that I've searched out youtube for hours on end looking for. It's an overweight guy slurring his words eating lobster. If you ever come across it, post the link please. "This lobsta was alive when it hit the boiling frothy water. The Horror!!!" /takes a bite "Oh the horror!!!" :D

Not really accurate; popular music has always been around for centuries and takes many influences from other genres while still focusing on its main goal of appealing to a general audience.
For rap, most of its influence is from blues, West African tribal music, jazz, funk, along with some other genres as well.

I was really into NuMetal in the late 90s / early 2000s, but I've soured on a lot of it since then. Maybe it was oversaturation, or it could be my evolving tastes, but the only ones from that era I still really listen to are Disturbed (still making pretty good music) and Linkin Park with some Godsmack thrown in.
My tastes tend to skew towards guitar heavy riff rock /metal now, but I have found that I like the more modern stuff I hear on the radio more palatable than I used to.
Here are a few that are heavily in my current rotation:
Judas Priest, Turbo Lover
https://youtu.be/JhY9GOhFwN4
Amon Amarth, Death in Fire

Dethklok, The Galaxy

Greta Van Fleet, Safari Song

Five Finger Death Punch, Gone Away

Judas Priest is one of the founders of heavy metal I think. I used to listen them too.
if you like their modern stuff then try one of their old albums called "Defenders Of Faith"and "Screaming For Vengeance" spring to mind as some of their best older music in the 1980's era but they have been around since the early 1970's

Oh for sure, Turbo Lover is from 1986.
The modern rock comment was about the state of current rock, not necessarily the songs I had chosen.
