So I'm sure all of us have been there. You have tons of games staring you in the face and you have an overwhelming feeling of blah.
I want to dedicate this thread to helping solve that problem!
Here are the rules:
1) Post if you need some help deciding.
2) Post any genre you really don't want to play that's in your collection (RPG, for example)
3) Specify any console you'd like to play a game on if you know, or if you want to avoid hooking anything up at the time.
4) Other members will look through your collection and pick a game for you to play! (Let's keep it at a 3 game max for each player request at a time, one suggestion per user at a time).
5) The player must Play one of the 3 games suggested for a minimum of one hour (the ideal situation would be for you to play it until you beat it).
6) Report back your thoughts on the game!
I'll start us out.
I would like a non-RPG SNES game to play tonight. Help!
-
Aladdin
Donkey Kong Country
or
Zombie Ate My Nieghbors
EDIT: I broke the rules already >_>
-
Wow...that was record rule breaking time!
I'll go with DKC!
-
How bout The Lost Vikings. That game is full of awesome!
-
DKC 2
Killer Instinct, play with Eyedol!
f-Zero
-
Well I went with DKC tonight. It took me just over 2 hours to beat but I sat the controller down for about 15 minutes. Not sure if the timer keeps counting while the game is paused. Also, I didn't save. I did it without running out of lives :)
If you haven't played it then you should. The game is challenging and is one of the best looking games on the SNES. This game has water levels that I actually enjoy because they look so nice. Also, the music is excellent.
Here's the proof (sorry...forgot the game didn't have a "The End" screen):

Nice!

Awesome man!
King K Rool is still a tough boss

Yeah, he took me 3 tries because I forgot his stupid jumping patterns after you knock him down once.
The top 3 most frustrating levels for me are (and have always been):
3: Ice Age Alley
2: Elevator Antics
1: Platform Perils
I remember a lot of people having serious problems with some of the barrel levels and Mine Cart Madness. I always had to beat them for my friends. I love them.
-
Ok I'll give this a go. Since I have a pretty large Game Boy collection, I'll go with that.
Give me a Game Boy game that I should play! No genre restrictions!
I'll play that game tomorrow night after work for the allotted hour and see how far I get. 8)

In the spirit of all the Kid Icarus love, how about Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters?
-
My vote is Ninja Gaiden Shadow.

I don't own it. :(
-
How about Super Mario Land?
-
I'd go for Balloon Kid. I might be wearing my retro goggles but i remember that game being super fun and unique
-
I've never played past the 1st level of Ninja Gaiden Shadow, and I've actually never played Balloon Kid. Hmmmm, choices.
-
So I got home from work, and was unsure which game to play between Balloon Kid and Ninja Gaiden Shadow. So I used the most scientific approach possible. I dug into the box I have the Game Boy games in and picked which ever one I found first:
I ended up finding Ninja Gaiden Shadow first.
Popped it into my Game Boy Light and started it up. Played through the 1st 3 levels without dying, but with only 1 heath box left on each boss. Then came Stage 4 and the vertical climb with water chasing me... I think I spent 10 minutes dying before I finally got through it. Then came level 5, not too bad, but damn that end boss is a pain in the ass. Ended up not finishing the game, but I played for about an hour and a half.
One thing I don't like about the game is the lack of wall jumps, and the climbing chain instead. I can't tell you how many times I dropped down into bad stuff because I hit A and disconnected myself from the ceiling.
Next time I'll load it up on my Game Boy Player I think. Even with the contrast adjustment, it's is hard to see some of the moving enemies.
-
I'm glad you played it because I was considering picking it up.
Who's next?
-
ya I bought it a while back, and prolly over paid for it too. But I'd been looking for it for awhile and there was a B2G1 so I guess I did pay less than it was marked.
-
Well I guess I will be the next to go. With the three day weekend coming up I am looking for something to play. I have to have dinner with my parents and then the inlaws so I am looking for something portable. Anything for any Nintendo handheld system is my only guide.
-
Golden Sun on GBA. Should give you a weekend worth of game play.
-
The Pokemon Trading Card Game for GBC. It's so random...I dig it out every couple of years and start a new game.
-
I second Golden Sun if you've never played it. It's really well done and it shouldn't take you too terribly long to play through.
-
Reminds me, I need to replace both Golden Sun games for GBA. Like a fool I traded them in, prolly for something stupid.

Aw, those are some of my most cherished CIBs, considering how easy it was for people to destroy those cases.
Getting the 3rd Golden Sun felt kinda of anticlimactic with its hard shell case.
-
Looks like I will be putting in some time with Golden Sun this weekend. I think I've put in about an hour before so I will see how far I can get in it.
-
I loved Golden Sun and put in a good amount of time with it. Trading them in was one of the worst choices I've made.

details!

I feel a jones to play some Saturn. But I have over 70 Saturn titles... so give a Saturn game to play tomorrow. I'll play it for the allotted hour or more and report back how I feel about it afterwards, as per the rules.
-
It's got to be Last Bronx.
Also, how on earth do you have games in your collection without artwork? For shame.

I really didn't want to post it since I was stuck almost the whole weekend before finally just checking a guide. I have put about 11.5 hours into it before so I was in a mine. After I booted up the game I remembered why I had stopped playing it in the first place. I was stuck and I didn't know that I was supposed to freeze the puddles into towers. After I finally looked on Sunday night I had put about another 1.5 hours into the game with no progress. I have now made it through the mine but that was as far as I got.
-
I'm going down the list on the side bar. I'm on "Sega Genesis" right now, almost there.
-
I would go for Die Hard Trilogy
-
Looks like I won't have much of a chance to play games tonight. But I'll knock it out tomorrow, I think I'll go with Die Hard Trilogy, since I've never played it.
