Title: SNES Replacement LED
Post by: darko on April 04, 2012, 12:00:52 am
I "modded" one of my SNES systems to play SFC games recently and now I would like to change the color of the power led to signify the difference from my other consoles. I've taken it apart and was wondering if the replacement led had to be a certain type?

Also, does anyone know if I can get the led out without de-soldering all 12 pins that connect the controller ports to the controller board? That looks like a giant pain.

You can get the LED out without desoldering the controller port, but it's tricky and basically involves breaking the plastic and re-gluing it after you're done.  Desoldering is harder, but looks way better in the long run.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think pretty much any standard LED would work.

It doesn't have to be anything special I'd try and fit it with one with about the same dimensions though.

5mm?
