I tried to add missing release dates for 2 items in the database but according to google they might be both wrong release dates
I just edited 2 Test Drive games for PlayStation 1 game entries. adding the year (the only year listed) according to the official jewel cases and I used the (R) date, (the only date I saw on both my complete copies of both) but according to google the my date edit might be wrong. as far as what year they were released on both of them. I don't know whether or not I should use the (R) year as year of release,. Both these games have no (C) year listed
I don't know what (R) (registered trademark means and it was by the (R) symbol that this release date was written because this case had no other year listed and I don't think anyone asked this before

sorry for the inconvience I was only trying to help,
should we go with what Google says? or what the Official Jewel case says?

R and C, for the most part, are when the branding was registered. It is not always a good indicator of a product's release date as the branding may be registered in a year or two prior to release. It is better to check the available sources for release dates rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.
For example on Test Drive 4:

Last night I popped in Test Drive 4 again and the year 1997 popped up on the screen so what I put might be incorrect,
I may be wrong, I have the (greatest hits) release of that game and the american version I just wanted to let everyone know that :-\
it's confusing a little but I understand
Gamespot seems to be correct on this one (1997) apparently is when the official first print was made and mine 1998 because I hold the GH version

Items in the physical game categories require the date for when the physical thing was released. The release date is not for the data contained on the chip or on the disc.
