Picked up a new scanner yesterday from local thrift store. Mine just gave out yesterday and so I went to the only thrift store that I knew that still carried them on occasion and I found a Visioneer 9450 USB for $6. I was pretty stoked and it actually works. I know it's not a game but thought I would mention it because it helps fill in the images here.

Found these a couple days ago, does anyone have any idea if they are worth anything? They only cost me a buck each so I decided to take a chance

Picked up these three games for $10, nothing too special here except that they were bundled with this:

These were 1.00 each, really happy to get the Skyrim, now I just need the game. Also I didn't even know that there was a guide for Ecco so I will have to try out the game now.

About a buck each for these in varying degrees of completeness

Neat story about the GBA games, they are all from an EB Games that found them in their back room after 6 years. They are all "new" but none are sealed.

Not really. These are ten years old. :P

What do they contain, paperwork? If they have old software you might be able to flip it on eBay. Regardless I love to buy those old binders, Microsoft gave out some quality ones and I use them to store backup discs.

I didn't think they were going to be worth anything lol

The contain paper work and cds of training material for sales and technical resources for all of MS software from 2002.

The binders are worth more than I paid so I figured it was a good deal :)

Picked this up today from thrift store for a $1, anybody know the manufacturer of this thing? There are no markings on it.

Is that an XBox VGA box? :o

Judging from the oval thing on the plug, I'd say Mad Catz.

Yes it 's a VGA box, I didn't even think about the oval on it, Guess it could be Mad Catz. Also I got the photo online and on it it says Frozen VGA but not finding any info on Frozen VGA.

Guess I should mention that I got my copy of Limited Edition copy of  Diamond Trust of London in the mail the other day, even though I posted about it in the Diamond Trust thread. Still haven't had time to play it yet, which I should get on that soon. If I like it I may buy an extra copy through his mail order before they sell out.

I had to skip Monday because I had no money. :P I went there on Tuesday and picked up:

Diablo II Expansion Pack CD keys x2 (no discs, for trading)
Victor Vector & Yondo: The Vampire's Coffin (Mac / Win 3.1 CD - keeping)
Mario's Time Machine Deluxe OEM / Not For Rental in sleeve (Mac - keeping)
Abuse For Macintosh - keeping, unless it's worth something since it was made by Bungie?
Gadget (PC / Mac - keeping)
For $4

And I also picked up Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition, sealed, for $5. That one's going to eBay.

Today, I found these:

SiN (Expert Software budget rerelease), Quake II (PS1), X Uprising - $1.50 for all
Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova / Beatmania Gamers Day 2006 Exclusive Sampler CD (new) - $1

You Don't Know Jack
You Don't Know Jack Mock 2
Um Jammer Lammy
Red Vs Blue Seasons 1 and 2

For $5 total :o There were a few other PS1 games there but it was mostly EA Sports crap and Need For Speed games missing the disc. Red Vs Blue's discs are mint, but the packages are trashed... I've been curious about the series so why not grab the discs this cheap, right?

I couldn't decide if this should be posted here in the "Recently Added To Collection" thread or hidden deep in the recesses of the "Worst Pickup" thread.  But in light of the 30 year anniversary, the historical account of bringing down the gaming industry in the 80's, and because I am looking forward to the AVGN movie, I decided to proudly display my most recent purchase.  (BTW, it's ok to wince, I know you all want to).

I snagged this little gem this week, it is factory sealed (and seeing no reason to ever actually want to relive a childhood nightmare by playing, it shall remain sealed) and even still has the hang tab attached.  Now I just ned to track down James Rolfe and see if I can get a signature added to commemorate his upcoming movie!

as bad as it is  it is history and  it should go to a collector of video game also did you know the developer  howard scott warshaw (yars revenge) only had about 3 to 9 weeks to make a game based on ET and a normal game on the 2600 takes about 6 to 7  months to make and thats why its so bad and if you want more historical  video game info like the pac men on 2600 ask me (i spend way too much time on the net :'( )

I actually bought this late last month, but only today did I finally get it up and running the way it's supposed to. There are still a few little things I could do, but overall it's working great.

This Asteroids Deluxe machine is the new star of my collection. I'm so filled with child-like joy every time I play it knowing that it's mine.  ;D

You Don't Know Jack
You Don't Know Jack Mock 2
Um Jammer Lammy

Nice pickup on the YDKJ and Um Jammer Lammy!  I still debate with a friend about whether the first Parappa or UJL is better (I think the former, he thinks the latter).

I love YDKJ and still hope they work on releasing new versions of it.  The 360 version is ok but certainly not the same since there is no usage of the keyboard.

I've managed to avoid all FB games thus far, but damn.  Wish I didn't know that...  :-\

Sometimes I ask myself if I have done all I could for my son, have I been a good Father, a role model...  Have I passed on to him what the important things are in life....  I think I can say yes after today.

After unboxing our most recent little toy, he asked if he could try it out to make sure it worked.  A warmth filled my soul when the first cart he grabbed was Zelda!  Oh my Boy.... ;D

A pretty great day today at garage sales.  For $17, I picked up:

XBox - Pac Man World 3, Ghost Recon 2
PS2 - Power Drome, The Simpsons Road Rage
GBA - Wario Land 4, Super Mario Advance 2, Mario Kart Advance
GB - Pokemon Blue, Harvest Moon 2
Gameboy Pocket System - Ice Blue

The Gameboy pocket came with Pokemon Blue for $5, a killer deal.  Though when I opened it up, the batteries had leaked corrosion inside.  Hopefully it works.

In addition, I picked up some movies for my video game movie collection:
Doom, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill and House of the Dead.  In all, it was a great day for pickups.

So far I like it, only unboxed it about 30 minutes before posting.  As most have pointed out the speakers do have a small hiss sound, after playing for awhile I can see this becoming annoying. Nice clean sharp screen image and TV out.  The size is almost laughable, but in a good humor way (but super lightweight).  I can just image shortly after take-off on a long flight seeing the kids breaking out the 3DSs, PSPs, iPhones, and then me digging out this honking SNES player  :P

I like that it plays SNES, SFC, and with an adapter (@ about $20) NES and Sega carts.

I bet you could use a super gameboy on there and play all the gb/gbc games too! Ive looked at one myself and it seems pretty cool looking, if nothing else.

You mention the Zelda game. My son runs into my game room yesterday when a fellow gamer pal was over and he goes straight to Link to the past and asks if he can take it into his room and play. My son is 4. :) He is learning well!

Just dusted off my Super Gameboy, it has a tighter fit due to the extruding lip under the gameboy cart slot, but yes, yes you can play Gameboy Games on it as well.

I actually use a system called the GP2X Caanoo for my retro gaming.  I just download all the emulators and games I need.  There is also an official app store where new games are released.  I only really use it for retro games though.

Edit: Nevermind on the app store.  Looks like they went out of business.  This is a nice site that I had been using though:

Did a day long trash digging trip today.  My wife and I hit up some dirt malls, a flea market, some thrift stores, and a few game stores.  How'd I do today? Not too shabby.

Donkey Kong 64  - $1
Tiny Toons Adventures 2 NES - $5
Shenmue Complete DC - $2
Shenmue missing disc 1 and the manuals - $2
Unreal Tournament DC was in the Shenmue Disc 1 spot - Included in the above $2, so FREE
Dreamcast Import Converter disk thing - $2
Street Hockey '95 SNES - $1
Metal Combat SNES $1
2 NES Dogbone Controllers - $10

I shouldn't have bought but 1 dogbone controller, but I had a brain fart.  I thought I only had 2, but I had 3.  I wanted 2 for each Top Loader.  Oh well, now I have 5.

It was a pretty good day.  I'm tired as balls though.

Nice work with Dark Spire!

I lucked out and got it "new" from Gamestop when they'd dropped the price of the new copies to $5 for some reason (with soundtrack) not too long after release.

I enjoyed it, but it's definitely got the difficulty issues of the old "draw your own map" RPGs.

Sadly, the Game Boy Pocket I picked up on Saturday isn't working.  It powers on (power light turns on), but nothing appears on the screen.  I may take it apart and clean everything out as best I can (as it was covered in mud and grime), but I'm not expecting much.  At least the game that was inside works fine.

Received something else! Catherine on Xbox 360.
I wanted to get the PS3 version (to continue my saved game from when I rented it), but the 360 version is cheaper and I like the boxart more :P

Catherine is really good.
This guy, who seems to be having doubts about his relationship with his girlfriend Katherine (including cheating on her with the titular "Catherine", despite not remembering that happening), gets nightmares about things that are going on in his life, and if he dies in those nightmares he dies for real.

The fun part here is that those "nightmares" are really fun and surprisingly original and hard block-pushing puzzles, where the goal is to "build" your way to the goal on top (sometimes with giant bosses trying to kill you). There's frankly nothing else like this in the industry right now.

The Xbox ones seem to be cheaper than the PS3 ones, if anything, at least on eBay and Amazon.

I'm sure it'll keep dropping in price in case you're interested in those crazy puzzle sorta things.

I really like Catherine, it's kinda like an interactive Anime movie/ Puzzle game. The puzzle sections start out pretty easy and then get harder as you go. It's really a cool game, but hard to pay attention to if there are other people doing stuff nearby, especially if they start asking you questions.

Hey all, I'm new here so I thought I'd say "hello" first, and now on to my recent purchases :-)

I got this beauty yesterday from a local store. $140 dollars, but for CIB and how great of condition it's in it was a steal.  The discs have no visible scratches and the only cosmetic issue is that the case and disc are a little dusty.  Methinks it was sitting in a storage room forgotten for a while.  The store actually called me to tell me a guy was there trying to sell it, and held it for me until after work.  I find that there is great value in building rapport with local businesses :-P.

This is the other major purchase I've made this month, from the same place.  Dracula X was $70, but is CIB and has a beautiful looking box and manual.

Guess what I just got a deal on.
My very first dedicated Arcade Cabinet!  PlayChoice 10 is mine!  Picked it up for what I thought was a pretty good deal.  SMB1-3, Dr. Mario, Double Dragon, Contra, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, TMNT and two more I can't remember right now.  I found it in a pawn shop.  I have to pick it up Monday.  I had to wait until I could get some help moving it into the house.  Now, I just have make a good spot for it.

Blood omen: Legacy of Kain is underrated, I think.  I really enjoyed that game.

VAE VICTUS!

I too thought it was a pretty good game!
Picked this up today from thrift store for a $1, anybody know the manufacturer of this thing? There are no markings on it.

Divineo (http://mag.divineo.cn (http://mag.divineo.cn)) is the company who made them via a contract with frostythesnowman.

I have been looking for one of these cables for a long time... These are made to be used with the FrostyTheSnowMan's *fixed* Vga bios, so unless your xbox is modded its useless.

Another bit of info is it requires a monitor that supports sync on green.

Did a little game chasing today.

Advanced D&D Heroes of the Lance (NES) $5

Ogre Battle 64 (N64) $15

I did a lot of hunting and trash digging today, and that was all I found worth picking up.  It seemed everything I found today was WAY overpriced (Super Scope for $55??)  or just junk.  Oh well, some days you hit home runs; and some days you can't even get on base.

Stopped at Goodwill and found Tony Hawk 1 & 3 CIB (N64).  I started another thread about Tony Hawk 3, because I've heard that it's extremely rare (hopefully), as it was the last game released on the N64.

I also snagged a Gamecube for $5, which I've been missing since I traded mine in for my Wii six years ago.

Got the Kirby collection on Wii.
Also received Darksiders 2 Limited Edition... Except I found out after ordering it that it was the PAL version.  Thankfully it works, but I was worried for a while. Not gonna use that code it comes with though, so I'll probably sell that on ebay for a couple dollars.

Oh and might as well mention Borderlands 2 now since it's pre-loaded and just about ready to play :P

Agreed.

Picked up the PS3 Journey: Collector's-Edition (includes: Journey, Flow, Flower, 3 (previously unreleased) That Game Company "Mini-Games", OST's for all 3 games, 'additional content' ("Making-Of", etc); and it comes w/ a Free, 1 month trial for PS+ (which, I already have).

Funny...I hadn't even heard anything about this collection being released...

Also picked up Dead Island.

Both games were ~$20/Each - still new & sealed; so...Meh

On the subject of those 3, they are really more "experiences" than they are games - the goals are usually pretty simplistic and there's very little danger at all.  Of course, that's not to say they're not worth playing.  I would urge everyone on this board to at least play Journey, as the final stretch of it is absolutely breathtaking; a perfect fusion of imagery, music and a sense of freedom.

Anyway, taking off my artiste glasses now.  Picked up R-types and R-type Delta both CIB

NES - 1942, Burai Fighter, Al Unser Turbo Racing
PS1 - Blood Omen, Tomb Raider, Tekken 2, Tenchu
PS2 - Manhunt
360 - FEAR3, Dante's Inferno

I mentioned I picked up Tekken 2.  It's funny because earlier in the day I found and picked up a Tekken 2 strategy guide at a different garage sale, then I end up finding the game on the other side of town an hour later :D

I havent posted here in a little while. I have had a couple of lucky shots. I got Ninja Gaiden 3 for $20 ... the kicker was the guy gave me CIB Ninja Gaiden 1 and I traded it off for $10 and got half my money back. I scored a copy of Motor City Patrol for $20 as well with box. Going to trade off that box too for $15. Then I got Snow Bros for $20 from someone I bought a top loader from 3-4 months back. Finally I walked into a pawn store today and saw Mario Wii and Mario Kart Wii in their big Wii pile. I just asked generically "How much are Wii games?" Guy said $10 each ... I lazily said Id take those two. :)

Not knowing really *anything* about either Gameboys or Pokemon, I'm not really sure what I just got...but it was cheap enough to get regardless:

Pokemon: Special pikachu Edition/Yellow version (Sealed) @ 50 cents (for GameBoy)
and, the following for $1 more:

Yellow velcro case w/ belt-loop "Pokemon Gotta' catch 'em all" on top & pic. of Pikachu on front (like new),
(1) Pink Gameboy Color inside (gotta' clean-up replace batteries), otherwise mint w/ a Pokemon: Gold-version cartridge inside of it,
1 Tetris cart. (in plastic case), and
1 loose (Frogger) cart.

All for $1.50

Did I luck-out w/ anything special here?

I'd feel a little bad for the sellers, but then again, it's *so* easy now to look up eBay prices (on a phone even), that if they didn't bother to take that extra step, well... lucky for buyers like you.

Hopefully sellers like that don't ever go back to check their sold items online...

I splurged at a local game store. Picked up a bunch of CIB Genesis stuff...

Batman (Sunsoft)
688 Attack Sub
Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion
Light Crusader
Evander Holyfield Boxing
Boxing Legends of the Ring
NBA Showdown 94
Bio-Hazard Battle
Road Rash 3

Some PSX stuff CIB

Jet Moto 2
Power Move Pro Wrestling
Monster Rancher Card Battle Ep 2

And I got a 16 GB Vita memory card for 20 bucks, which I thought was a great deal.

There may have been something else on PSX, but I just don't recall off the top of my head.

Last night, I ordered 3 more games for my recently (and cheaply:) acquired Game-Boy Color.

When I initially got it, it came w/ Tetris, Frogger, Pokemon Gold (all carts. only) and Pokemon Yellow (Pikachu's Special-Edition) / still sealed.

Anyhow, I ordered:

Final Fantasy Legend 1, 2, and 3.
From what I've read - they're really more "SaGa" games than they are "FF" ones, but they still looked fun.

Now, I'm considering also ordering:

Dragon Warrior III,
Dragon Quest Monsters II, and
Lufia (can't remember the rest of the name), but, I think that it's the only GBC-exclusive Lufia game...

Any thoughts, opinions, and/or suggestions/recommendations concerning the 3 that I'm thinking about ordering?

Any other great/not-to-be-missed GBC (or even playable/compatible w/ the GBC) RPG's worth looking into?

Thanks-

I don't know much about English GBC RPGs but I can recommend the Jp GB game Cave Noire. It's a really neat roguelike, I had a lot of fun playing through it this year.

Sounds like it could be something that I might like.

*Goes to look into it*

Thanks!

I have all 3 of them. Dragon Warrior 3 is the same as the one on NES. DW Monsters is interesting. Not as good as the normal DW games but ehhh ... Lufia I havent played yet. I just found it one day in a storage unit. :)

Are the DW: "Monsters" games the same as the "Joker" games on the DS?

It's part of the same sub-series, yeah. It's basically Pokemon with Dragon Quest monsters... But beyond the whole monster collecting thing it's very different

On another note, picked up some 360 stuff. Bionic Commando (following that conversation in that other topic), Kameo and Chromehounds.

Picked up Tales of Vesperia (360) this week on sale at Newegg.  I put 80 hours into Tales of Symphonia on the GC, so I'm naturally excited to get into this one.  I've played about an hour and I'm enjoying it quite a bit, though I'm not a fan of the battle system at this point.  Perhaps it will click after more time with it.

I didn't mention these, but:

Tuesday:
Wallobee Jack: The Thai Sun Adventure - $1
Paper Planes - $1
Gamecube Component Cable - not telling :P

Wednesday:
Fantastic 4 (Greatest Hits) for the PS2 for $5.

I picked up that Wallobee Jack game because I already owned one other game in the series and it was developed by the people who went on to create Jersey Devil on the PS1. So I was curious to see how they began.

I hit a garage sale and saw a small stack of games under a SNES. It said $45 for all, so I took a look and this is what I got.

SNES, not in great condition with all the cords and two controllers.
An NES controller and some cables.

SNES Games:
Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Mario Paint w/ Mouse
Yoshi's Safari
Michael Jordan in the Windy City
Chuck Rock
Blackthorne
Pac-Man 2
Super Ghouls n' Ghosts

For NES:
Big Nose (Gold Cart)

And the game that made it all worthwhile....

Godzilla 2

I figure between the SNES, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and Mario Paint w/ Mouse, I should be able to get my money back.

I'm pretty sure there was more Nintendo stuff that she didn't put out there, because I expected to see a Super Scope with Yoshi's Safari and a NES to go with the controller. Oh well.

UPDATE:

Just grabbed Crash n the Boys: Street Challenge for NES. Well worth the $10 price tag.

September 2012 is the huge addition to my gaming collection:

Today I bought this 29" Sony Wega Trinitron SD beauty. She was heavy as hell, but totally worth it. I almost died by dread when it slipped from my hands in like a 5 centimetres height. Fortunately everything works like a charm, God must had mercy.

I hope that the graphics will be even better when I finally receive the XCM 1080p Mega-cool vga box together with the PS2 component cable from Taiwan. In fact it's now in Czech for about a week already, but our post is so annoying regarding things received from foreign countries so they have to declare it first and give me a huge tax then...

Also I am thinking about buying the Bose Companion 20 speakers.

In photo are the games I've got through this month. The first person who tells me which PS2 game is running on the screen will get a cookie. :)

I was in a Barnes & Noble today (had an old gift-card that I've kept forgetting to use)...

...and, they actually had a surprisingly decent section of books dedicated to video games.

Anyhow, I ended up buying this *REALLY* cool Persona 4 art-book w/ tons of pics, art, interviews, etc.

I forget the name of the company that makes these books (I've also got the same size & kind of books by the same company for Ar tonelico & the Atelier series), and I must say, that they are all very nicely done.

I usually only get these books when I have a gift-balance to use-up...as they run $40 - $50 per book  :o

Is it the official design works series?  they came out with one for P4 and P3 at the same time, I think.  they're pretty sweet for sure.

I'm pretty sure that's the one.

It's by "Udon", and the top of the book's spine says "Persona 4" in English, and in the middle of the spine (where English titles are usually found) is all in (I think) Japanese...

I've seen four of them, so far:

1). "Tony's Shining Art" (don't have),
2). "Ar tonelico" (have),
3). "Atelier World" (have), and
4). "Persona 4" (Just got:)

Last weekend was a bust.  I went to a garage sale that listed Nintendo and Atari, and it was an N64 with two games and he wouldn't sell separately.  Then I hit one that had a Genesis, Sega CD and 32X with about 20 games, half being common Sega CD games.  She wanted $125 for all, but I only wanted a few games.  I pulled four fairly common games and she wanted $40 for the four games!  All I ended up with last weekend was a vintage Donkey Kong plush, which was nice.

Today we were in Omaha, so I hit some game stores in the area that I know carry retro stuff and I found a few decent deals.  I picked up:

720
Jurassic Park
Image Fight
Alpha Mission
Soccer
Mystery Quest
Taboo
Demon Sword

and the great find of the day:
Kid Icarus (CIB)!
