If you need a Developer or Publisher added to the list of available options, request it here. All requests will be researched by the staff and added if needed.
You can also request Developers or Publishers that are duplicates to be merged. When requesting use this format:
Incorrect Company Name -> Correct Company Name
When a request has been handled, an admin will mark the Developer or Publisher name in either Green or Red glow.
Do not use any text effects on requests or they may be ignored!
-
Where can we check the list of developers and publishers already available on the site?
-
When you add or edit a game, you will see the options in the developer/publisher fields. (I think, I haven't actually done it since they were added back in.)

There's no dropdown list for me when I try to submit an edit for the Developer or Publisher section. That's why I was wondering if there was a list somewhere.

IIRC, Matt mentioned that - for now - it's only working for *submissions* and not for edits...try getting to that part of a submission screen - and you should get the drop-down menu & be able to see the list ;)

Actually, it's the other way around. It's only working for edits and not submissions.

What's going to happen to titles that have multiple developers? Have multiple developer fields? There's an idea!

What's going to happen to titles that have multiple developers? Have multiple developer fields? There's an idea!
This is the answer I got earlier:
Quick question, since it doesn't seem to be listed in the style guide. What should be use for games that have more than one developer? Should we list all of a game's developers in the developer section, separating them with a semicolon or a comma? Or should we only add one main developer for each entry?
Don't have a solution for this yet. We may add a 2nd field.
-
I'm presuming we're going to reuse a lot that may have been entered earlier. Is there a way the public can see what is already entered so we can make better suggestions?
-
I'll look into it and see if we can't compile a list.
-
Please add ZeniMax Online Studios. Also, I'm not sure if you're ready to clean up what's already in there but I think an edit I just submitted might have had a misspelled publisher. I grabbed the first one to come up on the list but then when I submitted the same edit on another edition I noticed there was a correctly spelled Electronic Arts and a misspelled version (Electornic Arts).
-
It's been two weeks since my request, three if you count the request in the thread about companies being added back to the database :-\ I don't like to bump the thread but nobody else has requested any adds which I find surprising. If you're not ready to add companies yet that's fine, I'm just wondering why it is taking so long. Thanks.
-
I was waiting for them to finish fixing it up before I posted any. When I submit an edit for the Developer or Publisher, it looks like the ones that don't come up in the drop down menu aren't getting approved or rejected. I don't know if this is the case, but it seems to be what is happening, So I am going to presume that all the ones I have submitted they know about. I could be wrong and if I am, then I will add the ones I find to not be in the drop down menu here :).
-
Please add Curly Monsters (http://www.giantbomb.com/curly-monsters/3010-5516/), developer of N.Gen Racing and Quantum Redshift.
-
Please add Silverback Entertainment Developer(s).
-
Please add Guildford Studio Developer(s).
-
Please add Guildford Studio Developer(s).
This already exists as Codemasters Studios Guildford.
As this game example: http://vgcollect.com/item/47872
Autocomplete when I type in the developer field makes it show up. Is that not working for you?

Thanks for the information.
It works.

I have a couple. The Coalition needs to be added to the developers list. And for publishers, we need Microsoft Studios. I'm aware that there's a Microsoft Games Studios, but they seem to have shortened it recently.
-
Publisher: Bergsala Lightweight LLC
No string/combination of Bergsala brings anything up. There is a listing for Lightweight Co. but I'm not sure this is the same company.
Publisher: Little Orbit
Developer: This one exists with a typo...Compile Heart / Idea Factory (it's listed as Compile Heart / Idea Dactory)
-
Yacht Club Games needs to be added to both the publisher & developer lists. Surprised they haven't been added by now.
-

Yeah, they are a few I need to add as well. Gotta check with the other admin about this.
-
The developer Tirnanog Co. needs to be added. They haven't made too many games, but they were responsible for Tear Ring Saga and Berwick Saga, which are in our database. I couldn't find them earlier when I was submitting an edit to add a developer and publisher for the Berwick Saga variants.
-
Developer: Adness Entertainment
-
Is there any way we can just make the Dev / Pub fields fillable like every other field? With the number of devs & pubs already out there plus the number of new ones popping up every day, asking someone to keep up with a list for us to choose from seems like an impossible task. :-\
At any rate, Experience Inc. is both the developer & publisher of Stranger of Sword City (publisher in Japan) and they aren't in the db for either.
-
For some reason, in the list of developers we have Compile Heart/Idea Dactory, rather than Compile Heart/Idea Factory.
It would also be nice if we could get Idea Factory International added to the list of publishers, since they've been handling overseas releases of Compile Heart and Idea Factory developed games most recently. As far as I'm aware, Idea Factory only ever handled publishing their games in Japan before IF International was created almost a couple years ago.

Developer: Stoic
Publisher: Versus Evil
(both were responsible for The Banner Saga)
Any way of knowing when / if these get added outside of randomly trying to edit them in?
-
Developer: Ertain B.V.

I've asked Jason about when we can get new names added, at least, and he's looking into it. Hopefully we can also get the feature working again where you can put in the name during the submission process rather than afterwards.
-
I'd like to request a few
Yacht Club Games as both a publisher and developer
MixedBag as both a publisher and developer
Young Horses as both a publisher and developer
MLB.com as both a publisher and developer
Rain Games as a developer
Soedesco as a publisher
Zoink Games as a developer
That's all I can think of as of now
-
Is it possible to get Tronica as Publisher + Developer. The have some LCD Games. Thank you!
-
Limited Run Games - Publisher
Lucid Games - Developer
Lucid Games developed Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved
Radius9 - Developer

Whitemoon Dreams - Developer
Whitemoon Dreams developed the PlayStation VR Demo Disc.
Gearbox Publishing - Publisher
Gearbox Publishing released Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour on Xbox One and PS4.
Hammond & Leyland - Developer
Hammond & Leyland created Racing Aces for Sega CD.
G Artists - Developer
G Artists developed Philosoma for PlayStation 1.
Panther Software Inc. - Developer
Panther Software Inc. developed Space Griffon VF-9 for PlayStation 1.
Digital Fiction - Developer
Digital Fiction developed Black & Bruised for Gamecube.
Does anyone actually take care of these? This is my 8th edit because I don't want to spam the thread.
-
Sorry for the delay. I plan to work on this neglected section soon.
-
Oneoreight - Developer
Oneoreight developed Earth's Dawn for PS4.
-
Please add Silverback Entertainment Developer(s).
Currently listed as SilverBack Studios, but will request that Silverback Entertainment be listed instead and will merge the two.
Developer: Adness Entertainment
I couldn't find any games connected to this company. Any links you can provide to help?
Developer: Ertain B.V.
From what I can tell, Ertain B.V. is a publisher rather than a developer. Let me know if you have info that states otherwise.
And for publishers, we need Microsoft Studios. I'm aware that there's a Microsoft Games Studios, but they seem to have shortened it recently.
Looks like Microsoft Studios is already in the list of publishers.

I've got some edits to make when I get home.
Thanks for everyone's patience! Let us know if anything was missed or needs editing.
And thanks, Jason, for pushing those changes through!
-
Michael Schwartz - Developer
Michael Schwartz developed Marble Madness for the Genesis. (On the box where EA lists the Developer Michael's name is there, it looks like HE alone ported this version to the Sega Genesis.)
Zeus Soft - Developer
Zeus Soft developed Risky Woods for the Sega Genesis.
Note: So I don't clog the thread, I will edit this post with entries until someone responds to update the database. (Might want to wait a few hours, I'm going to go through all my Genesis and Mega Drive Games.)
Edit: found the Dev in the database and deleted my original request, edits to follow.
-
Found a duplicate publisher
5pb and 5pb. (with that period on the end.)
Thanks! :)

Here's another one:
"Ubisfot" and "Ubisoft" under publisher
Was wondering, do these posts make more sense in this thread or the Duplicate Listings thread? Thanks :)

Hey!
Was trying to update the information for Superbeat Xonic and I noticed Nurijoy the developer was not on the list.
They don't have a lot of titles released yet so I can understand why you wouldn't.
-
If it is possible please add:
Just For Games as a publisher, since it's a French only publisher i'm sure no one on this site know them but they start to become more and more well-know in France, they started by re-release already released PC games at a very small price, like casual and simulation games at first then now they are working with a lot of well-know developer and even started to release games on console (only in France though).
Here is a link for them (http://www.afjv.com/societe/667-just-for-games.htm) (sadly only in French :-X) and a few link of items from the database :
https://vgcollect.com/item/125973
https://vgcollect.com/item/107314
https://vgcollect.com/item/106174
Micro Application as a publisher too, like Just For Games they release French only variant of PC games (i don't know them well but i think i have like fifty games released by them to add in my collection), here is a link for them (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro_Application) (again only in French) and a link for an already added game from them :
https://vgcollect.com/item/125970
Artifex Mundi as a developer, they mostly make hidden object games like Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden (on PC (https://vgcollect.com/item/125970) & Steam (https://vgcollect.com/item/69698)) or the Enigmatis (https://vgcollect.com/search/enigmatis) series. Here is a link for them (https://www.giantbomb.com/artifex-mundi/3010-9388/) (finally i found a link to an English site ::)).
Nobilis as a publisher, they have released a lot of PC and console games in Europe between 2001 to 2013 (when they had to close), and unlike what that giantbomb link (https://www.giantbomb.com/nobilis-france/3010-883/) say they didn't develop those DS games, they only published them. And i add a link to an item i have just added that have been published by Nobilis :

SIE Santa Monica Studio also is a similar thing, but there appears to be duplicates. What is the difference between the SCE and SIE studios? Did Sony just rename them?

I believe that SCE Bend Studio is the same studio that SIE Bend Studio. None the less, it seems that they are different from Santa Monica Studio – they do, however, all belong to the SIE Worldwide Studios. Should this be the chosen info?

I don't think Nestle published Lego Racers. It says "Distributed by The LEGO Group."
Also for the Bionicle CD, it is a music CD that has game data on it. There is no "publisher" for it, if we are to consider labels to be publishers, it would be Universal Music. Do we need to put music labels into the publisher list?

Bionicle is not music CD as there is no music on that disc but a crappy flash game, direct X, quick time, wallpapers and screensaver.

Can QuinRose be added as both a publisher and developer? They were a company that released visual novels in Japan.

The art on the entry matches to these, which show it as a music CD.

Even the picture on the entry has the Enhanced CD logo, which indicates it is a music CD with a data track readable by a computer.

I had wondered... wouldn't digital games, technically, be published by the platform? In that case, Nintendo would be the publisher. It is a different process than a physical release, where it is the responsibility of the publisher to create the packaging and basically "publishes" the game into the retail market. In digital games, this process is not done, instead the online store (ie Nintendo) is the publisher. Just a thought...
-
According to the info I've gathered from quite a few sources, Inti Creates is one of those developers that can self-publish on the 3DS eShop at least. This must be due to some agreement with Nintendo.
-
Yeah I thought about it more. Even on Steam it does show developer and publisher as separate lines. Oh well.

- Kamen Rider: Travelers Senki
- Saban's Power Rangers: Super Megaforce (3DS)
- Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuuger: Game de Gaburincho!!
- All Kamen Rider: Rider Revolution
I do need to make something apparent though. This studio is a grey area, from what I can tell. Most stuff that I've looked up never credit them in things like GameFAQs in the information field, but during the logos for, as an example, Kyoryuger or Rider Generation 2, the SeventhChord logo does show up with the CriWare logo.

GameFAQs sometimes has issues with games that have multiple developers, but this one seems to have enough information:
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/company/112649-7thchord
So using 7thChord rather than the full word, they seem to use either of these in logos:
- 7thChord
- SeventhChord
- 7seventhChord
Added as 7thChord due to GameFAQs, as well as their own copyright info on the bottom of their main site:

We typically consider publishers based on other sources, for example the Studio Saizensen is listed as both dev/pub on Mobygames. But most of the game cataloging sites do not cover the releases by companies like LRG and the others covered in this topic (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,9258.0). I think that if we consider LRG to be a publisher, then any of those other companies would be one also? Make a new thread in VGDB about this and we'll see what the rest of the users think about it.

Thanks for your response tripredacus :) If nobody else has really broached the subject then frankly it's probably a non-issue, Wikipedia lists Limited Run Games as a distributor and I suspect that's what they'll all fall under anyhow. I was just worried about asking for a company to be listed as a publisher if it wasn't the case, but since you've got cofirmation from a source that's solved the issue anyway. I'll use Mobygames to pre-check in future. Thanks for your help, as always.

I know this is nitpicking, but the proper name of Titus’ development arm is Titus Interactive Studios and NOT Titus Software (publishing name).
Hmm the problem is different than that. There are two similar developers:
Titus, which is not related to this company, but it is used as if it were.
Titus Software (short for Titus Software Corporation) which only has developed two games according to mobygames:
https://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/titus-software-corporation/developed-by/list-games/
And Titus Software is put as the developer for many other titles that they were actually the publisher for.
I'm not clear on some events of VGC past, but I do know that many old/original entries had their dev/pub reversed and this might be related to that.
In any case, Titus Interactive has been added to developers.

I hate the use of logo substitutes for an organization’s true identification. Also, why are there so many brand names in the Publisher List? In reality, there probably have been less than 200 publishing names of physical video games.

There are two things I can say
1. At some point in the past, developers and publishers were switched. As a result, there are some companies that are in the wrong category.
2. I do believe that we used to be able to type in dev/pub names into those fields. This is why there are duplicate entries and why some of them are questionable.

I remember a time where when adding a new entry you couldn't add a developer or publisher at all (at least on the browser I was using) so you had to edit the game as soon as you put it in the database. Then for a while you could put your own developer / publisher names in, and now it's the way it is where you can choose from debs / pubs already in the database.

I already new that. My question should be, who’s going to clean up the lists? Should we do it through requests? That would be fine with me. For a publishing example:
Aspyr
Aspyr Media
Aspyr Media, Inc. (real name)
Please pick one and delete the other two.

Please add The American Game Factory Inc. to the publishers list. It is the true name of The Game Factory’s NA publishing subsidiary. Unfortunately, this involves dozens of games. Since they no longer exist, maybe we should ignore this detail. It’s up to you.
https://www.mobygames.com/company/american-game-factory-inc
It already exists, the way it is on the friendly url from mobygames, as American Game Factory.
If the THE is important, I can rename it to The American Game Factory and then it would appear with the other options in the T section of the list.

Let’s try to get this developer’s name correct. It’s not LSP but rather “L.S.P.” or “Light and Shadow Production”. We should include the latter two names and get rid of “

This is a site admin action. I have put it into here (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10192), but all we can do is wait for it to be done.

Publisher: Shinsei or Bandai Shinsei
An alias Bandai went under in Japan for some games in order to get around the limit of how many games could be released by a third-party company in a certain time frame. I'm not sure whether any Shinsei games should get the Shinsei listing or just be credited as Bandai.
Example games:
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/578624-tatakae-ramen-man-sakuretsu-choujin-102-gei (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/578624-tatakae-ramen-man-sakuretsu-choujin-102-gei)
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/562974-saint-seiya-ougon-densetsu-kanketsu-hen (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/562974-saint-seiya-ougon-densetsu-kanketsu-hen) - Note that the page credits Bandai, but the box uses the Shinsei dolphin logo and the copyright on the title screen is attributed to Shinsei.

I added Bandai Shinsei but not Shinsei on its own.
I do not know if Bandai Shinsei (that uses dolphin logo) is the same as Shinsei that became Yukata.
