Retro Console Promises To Play ALL The Games
(https://fbexternal-a.akamaihd.net/safe_image.php?d=AQDVJtuKUMZ1bCfS&w=487&h=255&url=http%3A%2F%2Fi.kinja-img.com%2Fgawker-media%2Fimage%2Fupload%2Fs--x6q5mDq5--%2F1259703601390474388.jpg&cfs=1&upscale=1)
This is the Retro Freak. It’s promising to play games from the Famicom. SNES. Genesis. PC Engine. TurboGrafx-16. Game Boy. Game Boy Advance. Game Boy Color. And even the Supergrafx. Holy shit.
It comes in two parts; there’s the actual console, which is a small box that takes care of all the actual work, then there’s a giant “adapter” which is where you plug all the cartridges in (the console slides in under the adapter). The console has various settings that let you change video (and conversion/upscale) options, as well as built-in cheat support. It also supports USB controllers, so you can plug just about anything in there.
Most interesting, though, is the fact it’ll let you install games from a cartridge onto the console (which looks like it’ll let you use a microSD card).

Currently announced only for Japan, if there is a Video Game God, it is time to pray to him/her/it, and ask for a Western release (or at least a semi-affordable import and some language FAQs).

I so hope this does well and gets a Western release.
-
Wonder if it will work with the powerbase converter.
-
No wonderswan? :'(
-
Meh looks like just another android based emulation box. Kind of hard for me to get excited about a machine that just dumps my cartridge's ROM and runs it on an emulator.
-
Wonder if there will ever be a complete cartridge emu-box that does N64.

This is what I am waiting for. If one has all the above, N64 and (long shot) atari 2600 and 7800. I would consider it.

Ugh, so many of these consoles exist already. I want to see something that'd include the n64 and most disc systems. :/

No chance of that happening. The systems aren't that easy to emulate - the N64 alone is an emulator coder's nightmare.
You're better off building your own mini PC and using that as an all-in-one solution. One of my oldest friends did that and he's happy as heck.

And now my hopes and dreams are now crushed. :(

wait! no NES?
-
I guess they figured the Famicom slot was sufficient to cover the NES? Interesting that they are putting in SFC and SNES in together, though.
-
wait! no NES?
because its japanese

I'm sure there's one poor Japanese guy with a CIB Acclaim / THQ / LJN set who's heartbroken over the lack of a NES port.
:P
If this makes it here expect a NES slot or an adapter to be included.
-
The article says N64, but the pics don't show it. The console in the pics definitely looks like a prototype and not a finished product for the public. So I'm hoping that the article is right and we do get N64.

Where is N64 mentioned in the article? Anyways, as foxhack said earlier, its probably a long shot for the system to emulate the n64, ( unless this guy is ridiculously good at what he does)given how difficult of a system it is to work with the way it's set up.
-
I must have seen the N64 part on the original Facebook post I pulled this from.

If I remember correctly... To play NES, the customer has to buy a Famicom-NES adapter.

Well yeah, at this point it's a Japanese-only console. If it succeeds and gets a Western-release, I'm sure the Famicom slot will be changed to an NES slot for the Western-release.
-
I love how old school the images look. The adapter reminds me of the CD caddies that operated as the CD tray on towers:

If this work am totally fine with this but my worst fear is about the price once it's released, if the price is to high at United States really don't want to know the price that it will be here in Mexico, they over exaggerate them when they come to my country :'(

¡Gracias, Peña Nieto!
A friend told me that Amazon now shipped stuff to Mexico. Maybe get it from there, if it ever comes to this side of the world?

To be quite honest the Mexico border patrol are some Hijos de Puta that a lot of times if they like what they see they stole the packages for themselves and said that it were lost of never received anything, had a lot of bad situations in the past with these mothafuckas that I do prefer to paid a PO Box than send something directly into my city >:(

... why are you blaming customs? You know as well as I do that it's the postal service who steals the parcels. :P
-
Maybe because when I started to perform my social service or practices at school they assigned me to do it at the border between USA and Mexico so most of the time I saw when these bastards stole the content of the package in the offices, learned a lot of stuff there and also how to piss them off, one time my dad asked me to purchase some Buchanan bottles for a party and when intended to enter Mexico they told me that they had to retain the bottles because I didn't filled up a form that I never saw and that I needed to cross to my city with out them, so instead of giving the bottles what I did was to empty the content of them in the sewer and then give them the empty bottles what by the way is totally legal, the look at their faces was epic and I was practically laughing all the time anyway Pat the Nes Punk has released this past days a video about this all in one console (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72iQMuFihA4) ;D

If anyone actually buys it and after they get it, they should come on the podcast and discuss about it.

Since this will be the first time that I will be able to see a podcast at the forum so here goes a basic question, how it works ?, is there an schedule or a direct video like Youtube live videos or the streaming events like those at Deviantart cause I really don't want to miss it.

Get a Master System. It's the same thing.
-
You'll probably be able to use the Sega Power Base Converter for Master System games, like on the Retron 5. And there are more affordable, third-party versions of it that have come out recently.

Kinda.
The MK II and Streets of Rage 2 games were better on Game Gear than on the Master System. Also games like Ninja Gaiden are completely different on each.

And Game Gear has it's own exclusives that aren't on Master System at all. And vice-versa.
-
Game Gear has slightly modified Master System hardware; if anything they should include Game Gear compatible hardware that can also handle Master System software. :P

Haven't played it yet. Been working and gabbing on the internets too much. Maybe I'll give it a shot this weekend.
