Does anyone know any good ninja games? Except ninja gaiden. Or eastern themed like feudal japan or a china setting?
-
Blue Shadow on NES. You can play two player on it co-op too ^^

Oh yeah I played that one. Pretty amazing that it included the co-op.

Ninjatown. lol
-
Ninja Golf for the atari 7800 is surpisingly good
-
Mark of the Ninja comes to mind!
EDIT: For feudal or old-style Japanese themed games, Okami is a definite one for that
-
You'd probably have to run them via emulator, but Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru, Ninja Warriors Again, and Sengoku 3 are all pretty fun side-scrolling ninja games.
PS: I would add Nightshade for PS2, but since I just bought it myself, I don't really know if it's good or not. I hear good things, though!
-
The Way of the Samurai games have great feudal Japan settings, IMO. Toukiden: Kiwami gives more of the older Japanese folklore feel as does Okami.
-
I will also recommend Ninja Golf on the Atari 7800. It is a lot of fun to play, and incredibly odd.

Nightshade got ripped to shreds in the reviews. But aside from some really, really bad aliasing, I thought the game was fun for a play through.

The Fireworks Factory level in Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

I haven't put much stock in reviews for a long while, so I'm looking forward to it. God Hand had terrible reviews as well, and it was a blast!

I can't believe no one pointed out the obvious: The Shinobi series. Starting on Sega Master System, and on multiple systems up to today.
My two personal favorites in the series are Shinobi Legions, which is on Saturn. It's a 2D action-platformer. It has Mortal Kombat-esque digitized graphics, and oh-so-awesome live-action ninja cutscenes in-between levels.
And my other favorite is Shinobi on PS2. It has super-smooth controls, and is a 3D hack-n-slash.

May not be the games you want...
But I like Izuna legend of the unenployed ninja and Izuna 2 for the DS, I think they take place in feudal japan.
Also, the Goemon games. Legend of the mystical ninja (SNES), Goemon's Great adventure and Mystical Ninja starring Gonbare Goemon (N64)

Give this two fellas a try Ninja Warriors (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ninja_Warriors_%281994_video_game%29) and Kid Niki: Radical Ninja (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kid_Niki:_Radical_Ninja) :P

Ninja Commando for Neo-Geo is fun game. It's an overhead run n gun style. You can also find it on the Wii's Virtual Console.

LOL
Why does everyone mention those mediocre ninja games or shoot em ups wich aren;t even ninja games.
I never here anyone saying some decent 2d ninja games.
The return of shinobi for the megadrive/genesis for example
or
Shinobi III for the megadrive or genesis wich is even better
Or the best one shinobi X for the sega saturn
(pal version has superior soundtracks over the us version though)

Burningdoom mentioned Shinobi already, so that's probably why no one else has mentioned it again :)
-
Someone suggested it to me, I don't think I've managed to find it yet... but
Red Ninja End of Honor
I haven't heard great things, but I've heard it's cheap and worth a look.
Look at that... I have it for PS2.

Hell yeah man.
Through you liked shinobi x the most?

If by Shinobi you mean the 3 first games and Shadow Dancer I would agree but please, Shinobi Legions/X is a complete mess.

Shinobi Legions is awesome. I'm in complete agreement with him. Love the digitized graphics, the 2D gameplay, and the oh-so-awesome live-action ninja cutscenes.

Those bad ninja cut scenes are priceless
Gameplay, music, sounds and presentation wise it is the best in the series.
@turom
I can't blame you I you prefer the 2d grapics though and that you don't like the classic ninja cut scenes and the less serious visuals, if that's the case the former games are indeed a better choice for you.
-
My concern with Shinobi Legion/X isn't much the "ninja cutscenes" with goofy sentaï-like jumps all over the place, this is kinda cool since its fits pretty well the Shinobi universe even if you're right, I prefer the darker presentation of the first installments and 2D sprites over digitized characters, for me the 2D games aged much better in term of presentation.
No the main problem with this game is the controls are clumsy, the level design is boring, the bosses are meh, the whole gameplay experience is clearly inferior to SMS/Genesis counterparts IMO.

Thanks to the digitized grapics I find that some bosses look pretty intersting in the shinobi universe.
Also some enemies look pretty bad like the snake etc but I personally find it pretty funny it gives it some charm just like the bad ninja movies from back in the day.
Furthermore The AI is smarter in shinobi x than in the genesis counter parts.
Also they if I am not mistaken shinobi X has one of the more difficult final bosses in the shinobi series.
I disagree with you on everything aside that 2d grapics age better.

Wait, Shinobi Legions is 2D.

It is a 2d game but the grapics are digitized not anime 2d games like the former shinobi games the differences are pretty clear,

Yeah, they're digitized graphics. But it's still 2D.

Ninja Crusaders is a game that I really like. I don't know where it sits on the ninja game cred scale, but it's one of my favorite NES games.

That one was pretty good actually.
-
What about Strider? He's a highly-stylized ninja and those games are a lot of fun! There are three to four total if I'm not mistaken.
And I can't believe nobody has mentioned...NINJABREAD MAN!!!!!
-
Ninjabread man as a concept was freaking awesome. But, the game is more like a senior project. It's four levels long and without much to do in it.
