Title: What is the best deal you have ever gotten in the wild?
Post by: marvelvscapcom2 on October 07, 2016, 11:02:14 pm
Have you ever gotten something really valuable or rare for extremely cheap or found an amazing deal on something you were looking for? :D.

The best deal I ever got was on a NES which I got for Free with 5 uncommon games and 2 paddles.  A man in his mid 20s was moving out and he was leaving things on the sidewalk with For free signs and I had a talk with him for a while.  I guess he was moving away for college and he didn't have room and didn't want to go through the trouble of posting everything or having a yard sale and he was pinched for time. so he said whatever I wanted I could have.  He was cool as an ice cube :).  I also got a Lava Lamp and a Homer Simpson plush from him lol.   I was so excited.

What is the best score you have ever got? :D

I got a copy of Congo Bongo for the Intellivision for 3 bucks once. (For those of you who don't know, it's considered the most uncommon/rare game for the system)

An entire Xbox 360 Retail kiosk for free. One of the perks of being able to claim right of salvage in a retail store.

Sadly, I did have to get rid of it because of a move, but I was able to salvage the system and controllers to convert it into a christmas gift for my cousins.

I've still got most of the smaller things though, which would be 2 PSPs (1 1000, 1 Go), several full games for the Original Xbox and 360, and a bunch of demo discs for the Gamecube, PSP, PS2, and 360. The 360 Pirates of the Caribbean demo disc is a nasty one as it automatically formats the system's hard drive and disables the guide button. I also still have my Super Smash Bros. Brawl retail display, as it's a perfect holder for my currently playing pile.

Otherwise, for where I had to shell out money, probably getting Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for $5 at a movie rental place's liquidation sale or a CIB Japanese Pokemon Stadium GS for $10. There was also one time where Microsoft was having a BOGO sale on their site, but screwed it up something fierce, where you could get the more expensive games for free, so by buying Angry Birds: Star Wars for $20, I was able to get the new releases Dark Souls II and South Park Stick of Truth for free.

Nothing crazy deal wise, but one day I got something like 20 Dreamcast games, at two separate Salvation Army's, for like 20 to 30 bucks.  Practically a buck a piece.  Nothing super uncommon or rare, but great deal.

One time I got Symphony of the Night on PS1 for a dollar.  This thrift shop I go to sells CD's and PS1 games for a dollar, no matter what they are, the PS1 games probably only there because they are the same size.

I'm more of an online person since the deals in the wild pale in comparison

I've found boxes of snes stuff with allot of cib stuff for less than 20 euro's and some rare games for a buck or two.

My best deal in the wild was finding one cib gameboy game for 3 euro's

A pretty crappy title but thanks to the variant I've sold it for 250 since for example a UK version was only worth 20 and really easy to get

Probably finding a Commodore 64 for $10 at Goodwill. Unfortunately it died only a few months later, but it was a still a great find!

I also got a Sega CD locally for $30 (but it also died a few months later).

Recently, I can't seem to find anything for a deal, though.

Probably when I got like 25 boxed NES games for $30. Or, my Vectrex console with complete games for $20... or, SwordQuest WaterWorld for $3. It's hard to say, back in the day it was easy to find great deals. Does Castlevania Bloodlines for $5 count? Because I have a ton of finds like that from back when.

I bought Donkey Kong Country 1-3 and Super Mario All-Stars for $2.50 total at a yard sale.

Had nearly the same deal once. Only it was DKC 2 & 3 with an SNES, for $5.

It's a little bit cheating buy I'd go with PDS and Earthbound bought new in late 90s for $9,99 and $15,99 in the discount bin.

My single greatest deal was finding a huge lot of N64 games (40+) along with an Ice Blue Console and Controller for $50 total. The lot has maybe 6 or 7 filler, throw away titles and the rest was quality, including Conkers, Mario Part 1 and 2, Castlevania Legacy of Darkness, Smash Bros, Banjo Tooie, and the list goes on and on. At the time I found it (2011), the lot was worth about $600.

My first huge score was finding a stack of PS1 games at a garage sale for $2 each. Picked up Ogre Battle, Valkyrie Profile, Xenogears, Ehrgeiz, Final Fantasy VIII, and a handful of other awesome titles in that lot.

I have a local store near where I live that is owned by Go Hastings, that also as I write this is going out of business after 5-years. I bring them up because over the years I have found some incredible titles there for only $3, the amount they price all games that are pre-PS3/360/Wii. Here are some of the incredible titles that I found there over the years for $3 a piece or less:
- Ogre Battle 64,
- .Hack Quarentine (x2)
- Skies of Arcadia
- Klonoa (PS1)
- Jurassic Park Operation Genesis (XBOX and PS2 x2)
- Haunting Grounds (x4)
- Growlanser Generations Deluxe Edition
- Winning Post (Saturn)
- Saturn Bomberman
- Mega Man X Collection (Gamecube)
- Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 (Gamecube x2)
- Buckey O'Hare
- Countless other sought after and valuable games

And the finally amazing deal I found was a garage sale I went to a few years ago where I battled a reseller with a spreadsheet over a ridiculous amount of Dreamcast, CIB NES and NES titles, and a variety of sought after Gamecube titles. While she was looking at her spreadsheet and trying to find the ones she wanted to sell, i was grabbing titles left and right that I knew I wanted. I ended up getting a bunch of valuable Dreamcast titles, a few good CIB NES games, a CIB SNES console, and few oldr player's guides all for around $30.

All of my good deals are from the 90's. It was before Ebay took off and people were literally throwing out retro games.

Neo Geo AES complete with box for $100
Sega Master System Brand New $50
Atari 2600 games sealed - $1 each (tons of these)

I found a copy of Ogre Battle 64 for $3 a few years ago at a start up gaming store. Either the guy in charge made the mistake of putting all N64 titles in the bargain bin, or he didn't realize what he had. As soon as I saw it priced for less than a pumpkin spice latte (it was during the fall season I found it and stopped into the game store before going to get my basic white girl beverage) I threw my morals of having both the box and manual out the window because I knew I would never find something for that price again.

Since I've been collecting it has been my dream to find one of these, loose or boxed. Only problem would be that once I found one I doubt I'd be able to get many games for it since they go for hundreds to thousands typically.

This game is insanely rare. I have seen a total of one in person, ever, and it is the copy I have in my collection. Paid $30 for it at the time. which from what I've seen is a steal now.

I don't care eitherway just saying that the way he said it is pretty redundant.

My best deal was probably the SNES Justifier lightgun for Lethal Enforcers I picked up at a garage sale for 10 cents.

I know that isn't "super" amazing since the gun goes for $35 on average from what I can see online. That's the best I got though :-[

What's with the chip on your shoulder? Ogre Battle 64 is an expensive game. Finding it for $3 as opposed to the $40 to $60 (cart only) everywhere else was a fantastic find.

As an aside, my copy is now complete.

Y'okay, first of all that statement about me making purchase even though the game didn't come with a manual or a case was meant to be a joke. Surely you realize that. If not, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Second of all, who mentioned anything about going insane other than you? Obviously I was excited to see Ogre Battle 64 for such a low price, but where in the world did you get this idea of me going insane?

Finally, why are you comparing Ogre Battle to Zelda CDi?

Let's get back on topic....

I also remembered a few other great deals-

- Cave Story 3D (3DS, w/ slipcover) for $1
- Tales of Xillia CE ( this was mistakenly priced as the smaller limited edition, and with my ebay seller discount came out to around $8 for it CIB)
- A NES lot with 20 games for $18
-First party Gamecube games for $2-5 at Goodwill
- $4 for the two Lunar games on PS1 ( both CIB)

Those are the extremely good deals, but I've had alot of good deals that were usually around 25-75% MSRP, especially with tales of hunting down rare Wii games at Gamestop, which saved a ton of money, especially on stuff like Fritz Chess and Dokapon Kingdom.

Ah, this ole topic again.  I always have trouble remembering my best deals.

$50 for 2 intellivisions, a Genesis w/ power base converter, 3-4 phaser light guns, a CIB phaser light gun, 30 CIB Genesis games, 10 CIB SMS games, 10 CIB Intellivision games, a couple of Wii games, Shining Force CD (missing manual), SMS 3D Glasses, replacement intellivision controllers, 10 SMS/Gen controllers (both 3 button and 6 button).

$5 for an intellivision, 20 loose cart intellivison games, and one of those display/storage box things for the system and games.

Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 & 2 Plus, Eternal Darkness, Smash Melee, Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (PS2) all CIB for 75 cents each.

.Hack // G. U. Vol 3 Redemption for $2 a few days ago.

Ace Combat 6 flight stick bundle for $10.

Blue and Pink Justifiers for about $10 total.

Hurricanes for SNES for $15 a couple of months back.

$5 for a stack of CIB Genesis games that included Rocket Knight Adventures and ZAMN

$40 for a CIB NES Challenge Set + CIB SMB 2 + B&M for Gold Medal Challenge 92.

I'm certain there are more

I pick up great deals from garage sales all the time.
I have found earthbound three times all under $5.
Heck my boxed copy i picked up for $5 on clearance at a toys r us back in the 90s.
Just picked up a chrono trigger that was in a bag full of games for $20 making it about $1.
I used to review video games back in the late 90s - early 2000s and got free games all the time. Half of my PS1 & N64 collection i got for free. Its the only reason i own a CIB shantae for GBC.

I'm always hunting for deals. From garage sales, flea markets, thrift stores or my local used game store.  ;)

I don't get it both games have some value why can't you compare the two?

Same thing to me

So, is it a random comparison like you earlier stated or is it because both games are relatively expensive?

I was initially wondering why you were comparing them in the first place because the CDi games are (reportedly) terrible whereas Ogre Battle 64 is fantastic. I didn’t know you were comparing them based on their value. I didn't realize that the Zelda CDi titles were so pricy.

Ofcourse it was based on value, since the games are pretty pricey and have some value like ogre battle. It is a topic about deals after all.

Some variants of the zelda and link ones are reaching steady prices of 70 - 80 + euro's

But zelda's adventure comes close to being as expensive as the us version of panzer dragoon saga.

Like I said, I didn't realize what you were talking about with the two games.

I did a quick check on the usual eBay/Amazon and cannot believe some of these prices. The games are supposed to be awful.

I suppose at this point, my best deal was my Super Nintendo. I had a friend who had recently moved back in with her mom (her parents were split & she'd been living with her dad). Mom was giving her crap over owning too many videogames, so she gave me her SNES collection to appease her. It included, amongst others: Mario RPG, Zelda, Donkey Kong 1-3, Starfox, and Evo. Nothing special at the time, all fairly valuable now. I did have a couple stolen, unfortunately. Luckily it was still before the prices really took off so replacements weren't expensive. Zelda switched from cart-only to a nice, minty CIB for only $20.

Aside from that: I bought my first Sega CD with a genesis from another friend leaving for college for $20. It died shortly after. I got a replacement from a local flea market for a total of $10. It was marked $40, but they took the price down when I told them not to give me controllers or hookups except for the genesis, since theirs was a model 2 and mine was a model 1. I sold them the broken one the broken one the next week (they mostly wanted the power supply for the gen model 1). The games I got from my friend included Lunar and Vay. Later on at that same flea market, I got 2 memory carts. One in box for $5 and one loose for $1. I also got a pristine copy of Sonic CD for $5.

I had a co-worker bring me a stack of Dreamcast games since system was long gone. The most notable was Lodoss War. I didn't own a Dreamcast at the time, so I picked one up with 2 controllers for $40 at the flea market (damn do I miss that place!), and a VMU for $6. Went over to Gamestop because they were closing out DC stuff, got another VMU for $10 and Evolution 2 for $5ish. When I got home and un-taped the case, a disc fell out- they'd put a disc-only Evolution 1 in the case on top of Evo 2. I was pretty happy about that, since I'd been iffy about buying the sequel first.

I also found good stuff during the $5 Classic Plastic sale (I wish Game Crazy was still around sometimes). Tail Concerto, Vagrant Story, Zelda DX for GBC... and Suikoden 2. I wouldn't let go of that one, I just held it out for the clerk to scan.

Most of my more recent hits have been accidents. Last summer, I found some boxed SNES games for a dollar each at a yard sale and bought them, just because when am I gonna find boxed SNES games at a yard sale again. Looked up prices on Ebay later... did not realize how much Wolfenstein 3d was worth on the SNES. That was a nice surprise.

I got a top loader NES with bone controller for a box of candy bars I got for a couple dollars from the company store (I work for a food company).

Blood Will Tell - 1.95$

This game is insanely rare. I have seen a total of one in person, ever, and it is the copy I have in my collection. Paid $30 for it at the time. which from what I've seen is a steal now.

It is amazing that there are in fact, rare PS2 games. Why make a PS2 game if you aren't going to do a large print? The PS2 was only one of the most owned game consoles of all time. I must have looked through thousands of PS2 games back when they were first being cleared out everywhere, and I never ever saw Blood Will Tell, God Hand, or Rule of Rose. Thankfully, I bought RoR online before the price really jumped.

Dammit, I always thought it was a pretty crappy rpg by only looking at the cover, never looked it up never bothered with it since I didn't want it anyways.

So many chances I could have own this game for ****  :-\

it is a bit cheaper here in europe 40 dollars  but still a waste since it is a really good game.

I never saw a copy of God Hand. The only times I saw Rule of Rose and/or Blood Will Tell was when I bought my copies.

Craziness.

It seems entirely plausible that one might still find these in a yard sale. I'm sure a ton of non-collectors still have a ps2 stored away somewhere with a random selection of games, unaware that anything so recent could be valuable. However, nothing is going to sneak by a retail store nowadays.

I saw they had a TurboDuo so I asked the salesperson how much it was. He looked it up in their system and since it was their last one he said it was on clearance for $99.99. I was excited! When it was released in 1992 the MSRP if I remember correctly was $299.99. Since it was in the evening I couldn't go to the bank and withdraw money. The next day I went to the bank, withdrew money and went back to The Good Guys. When the salesperson rang it up, he said it was priced at $49.99. I was in disbelief. I then asked if he thought it would be discounted some more if I wait a few more days. He said he didn't know but he muttered to himself "If I had only known I would have got this for myself".

I still have that TurboDuo, it's still in brand new condition in the box with all nomenclature and plastic bags too.

Another deal I had was back in either Fall 1995 or Fall 1996.  I bought a brand new model 1 Sega CD for $39.99 from an outlet store called Music For A Song.  I'm guessing it was NOS because by that time the only Sega CD systems found in mainstream stores were the Model 2 versions.

I wouldn't call this a deal, more like I got it for a steal.  I shoplifted a Super Nintendo from Target back in 1992.  I'm not proud of what I did but back then as a dumb kid I didn't feel bad about it.  Karma caught up two years later when I got caught shoplifting and had to pay restitution.  Had to pawn that Super NES and other belongings in order to come up with the money for restitution.

Lol how did you get a SNES out of the store.

Back then the boxes were just out on the shelves.  This was before Target used glass cases and alarms by the front door.  I bought the cheaper Control Deck for $99.99.  I then went back in the aisle where the Super Nintendos were.  Just hung out watching other kids play on the display set up.  Then I took the Deluxe Set and put it in the same brown paper bag as the Control Deck.  Walked out, got on my bike and went home.  Came back the next day to get a refund on the Control Deck.  Another time I opened up one of the SNES boxes and took a controller out, then to avoid detection by undercover loss prevention I took an AsciiPad to the register and paid for it.  Then I did the button swap to make the SNES controller look like a Super Famicom controller.

I've gotten several great deals at well under expected value, but here are the first three I thought of.  A Nintendo VS dual arcade cabinet with VS Super Mario Bros and VS Mach Rider for just under $200.  Killer 7 for Gamecube new and sealed on clearance for $3.74.  And finally...

truly I don't get very many fantastic deals but the best one I ever made was at an estate sale for a "broken box tv" that had a "hole where the power, volume, and channel buttons used to be" along with searching through boxes and boxes to find some "old 8-track tapes" and an "old rotary projector controller". what I had gotten was a Vectrix, a second controller, and about 10 games for $5 total because the people that were running it had never seen one before and assumed it was nothing.

A brand new Turbo Duo for $50....while not the literal steal you got for the SNES back in the day, I would definitely say that was your best deal based on current worth and rarity.

Have to disagree.

He stole it so it costed him nothing at al, % wise the steal is his best deal since the profit is unlimited while for the turbo duo 200 - 300% profit.

Didn't look up the prices for a duo but even if you stole a piece of candy wich is worth absolutely nothing it is the better deal since you made infinite % profit.

If both items are brand new even though the turbo duo is more rare a snes console fetches far more pretty sad actually. And he did bought them brand new so the snes console for the win even money wise is the better deal.

New unopened boxed Snes consoles reach around 1000 $ and that's a standard one while the turbo duo reaches around 800 even when brand new if there are no games included.

New unopened boxed Snes consoles reach around 1000 $ and that's a standard one while the turbo duo reaches around 800 even when brand new if there are no games included.

Yes, but I have a SNES but not a turbo duo so I'm still sticking with Turbo Duo for the win. Agree to disagree on this one.

If you sold the brand new snes console you could buy a turbo duo brand new for the highest price and at least keep 200 in the bank account. Okay 130 -  150 after ebay charges and that's for the cheapest most basic one other versions fetch more.

I'll go for the brand new snes console.

I think mine was my Goodwill find. Contra, TMNT 2 The Arcade Game, Rad Racer, Operation Wolf, Wrestlemaina for the NES, and Super Pinball Beyond the MAsk for the SNES. 12 bucks for all of them!

My best deal was probably my almost complete Vectrex CIB collection for $100.  I typically help clean out/move people into their new homes or get their home ready to be put on the market.  It was pretty ironic, but the weekend before at the one flea market I went too, one of the buddies I sell with picked up a loose Vectrex for $100 off a random vendor.  Before this, I have never seen or known of what it was before, and he told me a bit about it's rarity and collectability.  I have always been a big time SNES/Gamecube collector so it was fairly new ground for me.  Anyways, i'd like to say 2-3 days later, I was helping a gentleman remove the contents from his crowded basement, and saw a huge box with a CIB vectrex on the top (It's so hard to try and hide excitement when these kind of things happen).  I looked through the box to see what I thought was maybe 20 or so CIB Vectrex games.  I immediatley asked him if he was willing to sell it, and he responded with "It's my son's and I think he wants to keep it.". I responded with an offer of $100 for the lot of it, and after a bit of hesitation took the offer.  I didn't even know what I had until I came home afterwards.  The box was so damn heavy, I needed my brother to help me carry it inside.  In the end it ended up to be 2 Vectrex, one CIB and one broken (won't power on), a CIB 3-D Vectrex Imager (Which apparently is super-rare), and maybe 6-8 games short of a complete CIB collection.  Ever since then I've been a pretty decently big Vectrex enthusiast.  Not to mention The retro store I goto is actually owned by Sean Kelly, and I see him on a daily basis.  The world is a crazy place...

That's awesome, big Vectrex fan too (hence my current avatar) and getting that CIB 3D Imager was an amazing steal within an amazing steal. I'm sure you've done some research to know how much those are going for nowadays.

The core of my collection was mostly bought retail at or near release, they are only retro because I'm getting old. ;) Even my best deal kind of falls into this category, although the system involved had already halted production 2-3 years before the purchase was made, so technically it wasn't a current product. But it has turned out to be a highly collectable flop.

I bought my Jaguar a second controller and 5 games for $25, all still factory sealed. Clearance sales at Kay Bee Toys stores were awesome.

At the time my wife thought I had overspent, it was a Jaguar after all and this stock had probably been sitting on their shelves for 5-6 years at this point. But we were newly married, had a young nephew and no game systems at all (My parents still had the NES/Coleco/Atari/Etc... at this point) so she relented and let me get the Jag. I wish I had been able to talk her into the $15 JagCD bundle to go with it but she was already convinced this was a waste, she didn't grow up with any consoles other than a few months with a 2600 and a one time rental of an NES so the value of a game system was not apparent to her yet.

At the time it wasn't much of a deal as Jaguars were not uncommon on clearance shelves but the total for those items today likely makes it the best deal monetarily. Dusting this system off years later and giving it another go is what got me interested in retro gaming so on the sentimental side it wasn't a half bad deal either.

I have yet to find a better deal than this in the wild since my town is kinda booty for yard sales and such.  I scored a $15 working Gamecube with controller, cables and the portable TV attachment a few years back.

You know, it's kind of a funny question, it really depends on when you made your find. I first started game hunting around the tail end of when a typical weekend out meant raking in a bagful of goodies on maybe a $20 bill. Everything back then was just a find, but by today's standards it's all like hitting the jackpot. You could literally pick up a copy of Mario All-Stars every single weekend for maybe $3, and now you'd be extremely lucky to even find a copy at a flea market at all. I don't think I saw any games this summer other than from resellers. Although, a resller did hook me up with a copy of Tomba! for the PS1 at only $3. So by today's standards, that's a great deal. Had that happened eight years ago, still a good deal but probably not as much.

Because it's in plastic I can't check the quality, but it apparently includes:

  • Game Boy Advance SP - Tribal edition + box
  • 3 player Link Cable
  • SpongeBob: Lights, Camera, Pants (complete)
  • Tom & Jerry: Infurnal Escape (complete)
  • Madagascar (complete)
  • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 (complete)
  • Frogger's Adventure: Temple of the Frog (complete)
  • Home on the range: It's hero time (complete)
  • Nemo & The incredibles (complete)
  • Pokémon Sapphire (cartridge only)
  • Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire (cartridge only)
  • Something he calls '3x Pokémon, silver, red, yellow'. Whether that means all three games are in there or he means a bootleg cart, I have no idea.

He's asking €65 for the whole lot. What do you guys think, should I go for it?

It's an okay deal at best if you collect everything. However if I look at the picture it seems fake the cart is black seems like the sapphire cardridge.

the gba sp mario bros 3 and pokemon sapphire combined should fetch around 70 outside of ebay. excluding shipping.

as for the rest It's worthless 10 15 euro's for the whole lot.

There is a big difference betweem 5 to 10 euro titles that sell wich are popular and wich won't and with lots of supply these fit in the last category unfortunately. most 5 to 10 euro games are just job lot material.

An okay deal if pokemon sapphire is legit and you save shipping costs, also some bootlegs sell for some nice money but it can take a while to sell.

However I think he means the 3 seperate games, legit pokemon blue red and yellow those 3 games alone that's pretty much the cost of the whole lot wich makes it a pretty nice deal.

mmm, unrelated to games themselves, a 48" 1080p tv via dumpster diving. price tag: $0. completely functional.
related to that: i also found a genesis (1st gen one too) and NES in the ditch... both still worked and had their cables tossed with 'em. the NES just needed a quick 72-pin replacement and a controller~
really, all my best deals are from dumpster diving, regardless.

otherwise, i got a slim xbox 360 for $50 the other day, which was pretty nice. thank the sun for meth addicts~
a psp and a stack of the games for it for $50... i flipped the games to pay it off, and this was when psps were still like $100.

i can't really think of anything else. these deals aren't the best in the topic of course. but i don't go yard saleing or anything. sometimes i get lucky and find games for pretty cheap, but never super cheap or anything. my idea of a good deal is "thank god i found all these games for really cheap in one place"... so, under ebay prices and such, all in one place, in good condition. that's how most of my ps2 collection was found, actually... someone dumped their ps2 rpgs at gamestop, so i was getting games worth $35+ on ebay for gamestop's $15 prices or whatever. being able to get a stack of games for cheaper than typical used market price is a better value... time is money, after all, and i have too many hobbies to spend a lot of time 'on the hunt'.

edit: oh, oh right. twilight princess, wii version, for 8 smackaroos from the pawn shop was a pretty awesome grab ngl

So a couple weeks ago was by far the best find I ever had. I signed up to this site just so I could keep track of what I got (which games had manuals, etc). Got all this from a guy on Facebook for $250. He said he got it all from his granddad's attic. It would have been a great find without the Halloween, but finding that just in the wild made my heart skip a beat.

Both Zelda oracle games and Gamecube versions of Zelda collectors edition and Ocarina of time master quest. Got them for $4. Got almost the entire set of Duo World/Turbo Force/Turbo Play magazines for a $5 bundle at HPB. Vanguard bandits brand new for $2 (sadly I opened cause didnt realize anything about sealed collecting then). CIB Rule of Rose for $20 at Vintage stock. Traded a Tool "Undertow" CD for a Turbo Duo.

Im sure there are others, just cant think of them atm.

I got a top loader NES with 13 games for $70 from one of my co workers. Typically I see Top Loaders go for over $100 with no games on Ebay, so I had to snatch that up. I only wish that it came with the dog bone controller, it did come with two controllers though.

Back then, buying stuff was so easy.  :(

I paid £40 for the Xbox 360 Slim console, two controllers, 20 games, Kinect, Big Skylanders Bundle, Disney Infinity Bundle:

A mint used Saga Saturn and 2 games and all hookups and at least one controller. All I did was trade in some things I was not using at a local retail shop and they let me take the hall home for free. I later sold the same lot with Saga Saturn for another working PlayStation 2 later on.

Neo-Geo AES system with hookups, 1 controller, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown both CIB, for $200.

Jesus! I've seen a few of these over the years at game stores, but never for under market value. That's an excellent deal!

That was back in 1995. It's a whole new world out there now. The AC adaptor wasn't functioning. They told me that upfront. I was able to order one from SNK U.S.A. back then.
