Hello Everyone :)
With the amazing success and popularity of SNES Classic and NES classic editions it seems more than likely we'll see a N64 or a Gameboy classic edition soon. Especially with how much Nintendo has been hinting around about it :).
What 10 games would you choose to be on the N64 classic edition if it ends up coming to fruition? :D.
I only say 10 because I think they will have a smaller lineup of games for memory restraints like the SNES did. It also makes this more fun as you won't be able to list every game :).
Also Keep in Mind games like Banjo Kazooie, Tooie, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Conker's are all owned by Rare and most likely wouldn't be allowed.
For me my list would be
1. Super Mario 64
2. Mario Kart 64
3. Super Smash Bros.
4. Pokemon Stadium
5. Starfox 64
6. Orcarina of Time
7. Majora's Mask
8. Paper Mario
9. Excitebike 64
10. F-Zero
What would your N64 classic edition line up look like? :)
-
my list would be
1: 007 Goldeneye
2: Mario Cart 64
3: Super Mario 64
4: Zelda Majora's Mask
5: Zelda Ocarina of Time
6: Paper Mario
7: Pokemon Stadium
8: Pokemon Stadium 2
10:NHL Breakaway 99
Any other game that currently goes above $20 lose in which is a lot of good games
-
My guess at a list of 10 would be:
1) Super Mario 64
2) Ocarina of Time
3) Mario Kart 64
4) Super Smash Bros.
5) Donkey Kong 64
6) Pokemon Puzzle League
7) Harvest Moon 64
8 ) Paper Mario
9) Kirby 64
10) Mario Party 3
I will say, if a Pokemon game is on the N64 Classic, it won't be any of the Stadium games because of the near-necessity of the Transfer Pack.
-
Mario Kart 64.
Guess it wouldnt be an N64 mini classic. It would be this -

-
Just 10, huh? I can do that. It'll be mostly first party stuff.
1) Super Mario 64
2) Mario Kart 64
3) Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
4) Excitebike 64
5) Super Smash Bros.
6) Gauntlet Legends
7) Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
8 ) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
9) Paper Mario
10) Starfox 64
That was pretty tough. I think 15 would have been better. I had to cull some good ones.
-
That's a tough challenge. I'd like to get a good mix so I wouldn't want to include games that are too similar, so keep that in mind.
Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Ocarina of Time
Super Smash Bros.
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (or Star Fox if the license conflicts arose)
Mario Party 3
007 Golden Eye
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Paper Mario
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
-
Super Smash Bros
Kirby 64
Goldeneye
Thats about it
-
• Donkey Kong 64
• Goldeneye 007
• F-Zero X
• Ocarina of Time
• Majora's Mask
• Mario Kart 64
• Mario Party

-
-Kirby 64
-Paper Mario
-Super Mario 64 (Duh)
-Ocarina of Time
-Majora's Mask
-Star Fox 64
-Mario kart 64
I'd fill in the rest with the Banjo series but and maybe Conker but that's probably not possible unfortunately
-
in no particular order
/s
-Carmageddon 64
-Daikatana
-South Park: Chef's Luv Shack
-Airboarder 64
-Superman
-Rugrats in Paris: The Movie

There's no way that this thing, if ever released, only has ten games. I mean even with the N64's extremely limited library everyone is still having to leave off decent to good first party games, Mario sports and the like. I also included two Rare games in my list. Its not as far fetched as you think, Microsoft is not in the plug and play market, would get paid a small amount for the use of the games, and could view their inclusion as free advertising for intellectual property that they are still intent on selling to people. Indeed, they'd probably be actively pushing for Killer Instinct to be included, but I left it off because the game itself isn't all that good.
Banjo Kazooie
Kirby 64
LoZ Ocarina of Time - including the master quest, which they hype up on the box
LoZ Majora's Mask
Mario Kart 64
Perfect Dark
Star Fox 64
Super Mario 64
Super Smash Bros.
Wave Race

The N64 is my favorite Nintendo console so picking just 10 is really challenging. I will go with 10 (however impossible some of these would be due to licensing), but will also put in 15, just in case. I guess look at 11 through 15 as honorable mentions or alternatives to some of the more impossible inclusions.
1. Ocarina of Time
2. Star Fox 64
3. Sin and Punishment
4. Perfect Dark
5. Super Mario 64
6. Goldeneye 007
7. Banjo Kazooie
8. Wave Race 64
9. Pilotwings 64
10. Mario Kart 64
11. Extreme G
12. Doom 64
13. Majora's Mask
14. Super Smash Bros
15. Turok

10. Hybrid Heaven

Never played Bass Hunter 64, but the list is of games that I've played and enjoyed on my N64.
Wipeout 64 might look like ass and seems to be trivial to crash, but it was lots of fun in 4 player MP.

!. Paper Mario
2. Ocarina Of Time
3. Majora's Mask
4. Wave Race 64
5. Goldeneye
6. Star Fox 64

5. Mario Party 2
6. F-Zero X
7. Mario Kart 64

Some neat other picks to me would be:
A. Sin & Punishment

C. Zelda: Majora's Mask
D. Yoshi's Story
E. Excitebike 64
F. Mario Party 3
G. Tetris 64
H. Pokemon Snap or one of the Pokemon Stadiums
I. Rumble Pak version of Super Mario 64

I guess im the only person who played all those great wrestling games. No Mercy, Wrestlemania 2000, WCW World Tour, WCW Revenge. I forget the name of the Japanese wrestling game on n64, same engine, but has even more options.

I have all 4 of the american AKI games the reason why I didn't list them is because I have my fill for them I guess.
Was it called "Virtual Pro Wrestling 2?"
or
"Virtual Pro Wrestling 1?"
in which also meets the AKI japan wrestling game description

I just found out about those. I think I need to play a wrestling game with Rickson Gracie as a character.

Yeah, those are the ones. I cant wait to get a N64. I never did try them, but im sure its more of the same, which is fine by me. I am trying to get into Fire Prowrestling since I recently picked up FPW 6 Men scamble on my Saturn. Its way different game play mechanics.

N64 Mini
1 Super Mario 64
2 Mario Kart 64
3 Super Smash Bros. 64
4 Legend of Zelda: OoT
5 Golden Eye 007
6 Star Fox 64
7 Kirby 64
8 F Zero X
9 Donkey Kong 64
10 Paper Mario
11 Yoshi's Story
12 Wave Race 64
13 1080° Snowboarding
14 Mario Party 2
15 Legend of Zelda: MM
I'd say 15 games is the minimum. it'd be nice if they continue the bonus game tradition. in which case id love to see sin and punishment or ocarina master quest. i am also of the opinion that if they cant get golden eye on this, they shouldnt even bother. perfect dark is nice and all but golden eye or bust for me...it was in my opinion THAT important to the n64 legacy
-
Likely this might be reality soon.
Nintendo have filed a number of patents relating to N64 in Japan recently.
I feel the following are nailed on.....
Super Mario 64
Donkey Kong 64
Super Mario Kart 64
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Paper Mario
F Zero X
Star Fox 64
Castlevania 64 (Castlevania tend to be staples on these things)
Pokemon Snap
Pokemon Stadium
But beyond those 11 titles I'm not sure.
I feel Goldeneye and the wrestling games are a licensing minefield.
However I do have a feeling that Microsoft will play ball; so we might see...
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Diddy Kong Racing
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Perfect Dark
Even though they're not 'classics', I feel these may be added to make up the numbers....
Kirby 64
Yoshi's Story
So would people be happy with those 18 titles as the N64 mini line up?
-
1. Paper Mario 64
2. Super Mario 64
3. Yoshi Story
4. Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2
5. Super Smash Bros.
6. Pokemon Snap
7. Harvest Moon 64
8. F-Zero X
9. Starfox 64
10. Kirby 64
-
Sounds like the Nintendo 64 classic is actually happening!
-
I feel only 10 is a little limited so I'll go with 20
Let's get the obvious out of the way
1)Super Mario 64
2)Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3)Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
4) Mario Kart 64
5) Star Fox 64
6)(While the IP belongs to RARE it's m 2nd favorite game, and I bet they could get the licensing) Banjo Kazooie
7) Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
8) Donkey Kong 64 (could be a few licensing issues again with rare)
9) F-Zero X
10) Yoshi's Story
11) Pilotwings 64
12) Mario Party 3 (my favorite of the 64 parties)
13) Pokemon Puzzle League
14) Pokemon Stadium
15) 1080 Snowboarding
16) Mario Golf
17) Mario Tennis
18) Paper Mario
19) Super Smash Bros.
20) Pokemon Snap
-
20 games or I genuinely wouldn't be interested. This one is going to go for all the predictable choices, so anything less would be rather uninspiring in my opinion. I think they should ease up on all the Mario spin offs and actually give a set that people will actually play. I've got carried away and supposed they'd give incentives (as indicated with asterisks) along the lines of Star Fox 2.
Animal Forrest*
Banjo Kazooie
Beatle Adventure Racing
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Custom Robo
Diddy Kong Racing
Doshin the Giant*
F-Zero Xpansion Kit*
Goldeneye 007
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (Ura edition)*
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
Mario Kart 64
Mischief Makers
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Pilotwings 64
Resident Evil 2
Snowboard Kids 2
Space Station Silicon Valley
Star Fox 64
Super Mario 64
Wave Race 64
I'd likely collapse if this was the line-up.
