The official release date on this game is somewhat sketchy because they've delayed it a few times so various news sites have stated differing dates. To make it more confusing the PS4 release has a different date from the Switch version so it's even easier to get them mixed up. Even retail sites also have vary on release dates.
There's been a small battle going on in our database entry for Penguin Wars (Switch) (https://vgcollect.com/item/146470). It's bounced between August 15 and 30 a couple times and I would like to present some evidence for why 15 is the correct date - at least for the Switch version. I'll start with a direct tweet from the game's publisher.

Street date was August 15th, but some stores (EB Games in Canada) may have started selling copies before then.
Putting the information into Description would be OK, to say the game was to release on August 15 and Best Buy didn't sell it until August 21.
In any case, putting dates into description, don't forget to put the year!
It would be interesting if Best Buy has a different game altogether, such as an exclusive version they sell, then if this is the case then the information wouldn't be valid on the main entry.

If Best Buy does have something different (which I highly, highly doubt) they certainly didn't attempt to inform consumers of that by any means.
Feel free to update that if you want. I ain't touching it. At a certain point it becomes gratuitous.

I actually did get my copy of Penguin Wars already but I figured it was a fluke since Amazon canceled my initial preorder on the seventh. The stores I went to on the "street date" didn't have it in stock (Target/Wal-Mart/Best Buy) AFAIK, Amazon doesn't have it in stock right now.
I ended up pre-ordering from Dispatch Games and got it on the 17th.

Dispatch Games has a "launch" version: https://readytodispatch.com/products/penguin-wars (https://readytodispatch.com/products/penguin-wars) but it hasn't shipped yet so perhaps the official release date is the 30th.

Yes there are plenty of the Launch Edition on ebay yesterday when I looked.
